Upon arrival, officers find Fletcher's wife, Leann, dead from an apparent accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. As detectives dig deeper, they uncover a connection to her death. Meanwhile, when firefighters in Palo Alto, CA, extinguish the flames from a burning house, they find the charred body of promising young realtor Jennifer Schipsi. Her boyfriend, Paul Zumot, collapses in tears when he learns the horrible news.

As police unravel this baffling case they find the power couple had a less than perfect marriage. And later, in a quiet suburb of Detroit, beautiful businesswoman Tara Grant disappears after returning home from a trip. When a bloody plastic bag is found in a nearby park, this missing persons case turns into a murder investigation.
