Jewel says she hated opening her eyes every day, and as a teen, oftentimes pretended to be blind, even walking with a white cane for as long as two weeks straight. She says that living with sight, to her, felt like living in a personal prison. She claims that seven years ago, she traveled 19 hours by train to visit a “sympathetic” psychologist whom she met online, and allowed him to pour liquid drain cleaner into both of her eyes. After a massive three-day search, her parents’ worst nightmare became a reality: Nicole’s body was discovered by the side of a road in North Carolina. Police arrested two unlikely suspects, 18-year-old David Eisenhauer and 19-year-old Natalie Keepers, both Virginia Tech freshmen. Eisenhauer, a collegiate athlete, and Keepers, a former NASA intern, have both been accused of plotting Nicole’s murder and luring her to her death.
