May 16, 1988

Towards the end of the Ching Dynasty, China was in the middle of a revolution. A plantation owner, YU-HIN, have only one teenage daughter, YIK-CHEE. When his wife is pregnant again, they were excited. YIK-CHEE is promised to KU LAI-CHUN, a son of a wealthy man, KU MOU-KUEN. The two families are pre?paring for the wedding. YU-KAI, YU-YIN's half brother, didn't get a warm welcome, because he was made a eunuch and that shames the family. CHAO KAN-YE sneaked out through the back door being afraid to be scold~ because he works for the European at the mine. YIK-CHEE is having a bath meanwhile, and he was seen by WAI-HAN, who suspected him with bad intentions. YIK-HUN 's grown up into a very carefree person and doesn't want to learn the family business. That made his father mad. YIK-CHEE wanted to experience the city life of Shanghai, and also to visit PAT-NIN who has now lost his wife. Her father disapproved. The tea in the warehouse keeps on disappearing. YIK-HUN went there and was tricked by the servants. KAN-YE returned and was warmly welcomed, because YU-BIN felt guilty about treating him wrongfully. YIK-CHEE sent a letter home after she ran away, and said she already married PAT-NIN. Her parents became furious. YIK-HUN went to the warehouse again and found AH-SING and AH-KUEN together. AH-SING got away and AH-KUEN started to call rape. His father came and beat him heavily.

1x4 - Episode 4

May 19, 1988

KAN-YE found out AH-SING's behind the tea stealing, and YU-HIN throw him out. YIK-HUN reclaimed his innocence. YO-HIN wanted KAN~YE to stay and work for him, but he refused. CHUNG-YUK was bullied by thugs. She later worked as a maid in a whore house ‧ ‧.. MOU-KUEN is trying very hard to have another son, but not successful. YU-HIN has only hope for YIK-HUN, and sent him to Shanghai to study. CHUNG-YUK stole a piece of Jade from a man and ran away.

May 20, 1988

CHUN-YUK met YIK-HAN on the way, but not recognizing each other. She tricked them and took all their belongings. YU-KAI accidently killed a dog belonging to the Empress and took his mistress back to Shanghai. With nothing to live on, they started a whore house, and SUI-LIN-LON as the Madam. YIK-HUN it too attracted by the new things in his sister's home, and the life of the city, he soon forgets his studies. CHUN-YUK escape City Shanghai and lived on her stolen goods. Soon she became brook and worked hard. She got into trouble, and with evidence in SUI LIN-?LON's possession, she was sold to her. SUI LIN-LON started to work her way amongst the rich.

1x6 - Episode 6

May 23, 1988

YIK-HUN finally got to school, and there he met HAWK-SUN again, and took him home to his sister. She felt that she owned him his love, and asked her husband to employ him as private interpreter; Through HAW-SUN, YIK-CHEE met CHIN HQ-FU and was attracted by him. CHUN-YUK knocked down a hawker's supply and was asked to pay with the gold pendant she has got on. YIK-HUN came and found out that piece belongs to him and demanded for it. She screamed and scared him off. MOU-KUEN met CHUN-YUK in the whore house and wanted her. YIK-HUN met CHUN-YUK again and got his gold piece back. They also have a chance to remember each other, but she became self-pity and ran off.

1x7 - Episode 7

May 24, 1988

CHUN-YUK saw YIK-HUN paid to reclaim her, and getting things ready for a wedding, she thought he wanted her as his wife. But when found out he's going to marry her to his driver, she ran away again. On her way, she met the man whom she stolid from before, and now wants her to return them. She got him to the whore house and used YIK-HUN's background as shield and got away. The man now wanted money from YU-KAJ; and SUI LIN-LON got mad. HQ-FU's father, PAT-TUNG, operates with MOU-KUEN in illegal business. They have SO HA-MAI's help to ship strong men as cheap labour to another country. CHUN-YUK went gambling and was won by HA-MAI. She followed him home and hope to steal her money back. She found out about the labour but was caught by HA-MAI. He detained...

May 25, 1988

CHUN-YUK found YIK-HUN amongst the labours and helped him escape. She got told off and she was so angry she fainted. He took her to an inn and got her a doctor who said she's pregnant. She knew it must be from a customer and asked him to get some medicine to help her get rid of the baby. They start feeling for each other again. YIK-HUN went home and told his sister what happened, She went to the police ‧.. for help. HQ-FU introduced HA-MAI to YIK-HUN. He's not sure he recognized HA-MAI as one of the gang, so he was silent. YIK-HUN went back with his driver, AH-BING, who's so in love with CHUN-YUK. She's now gone and he started to look for her. She went and worked in a restaurant and was molest by thugs. YU-KAI and took her back to the whore...

May 26, 1988

YIK-HUN disapproved of CHUN-YUK's return to the whore house, thinking she only greets for money. YU-KAI's body is covered with red spots. He thought he's dying and spent a lots of money for treatment. Finally he has got to turn to MOU-KUEN. YU-HIN missed the children and went visiting them. YIK-CHEE is thrilled. But for her father he thought her husband is getting as old as himself, and feeling embarrassed. SUI LIN-LON is request for loan from MOU-KUEN which gave him a chance to bargain for CHUN-YUK. But LIN-LON insists he can only see her in the house. YU~HIN's hurt because his children has become too Westernize. CHUN-YUK accompanied MOU-KUEN to attend YU-HIN's party, there she met up with HA-MAI again. She thought twice before not expos...

May 27, 1988

YU-HIN likes CHUN-YUK, and asked MOU-KUEN for her hand for YIK-HUN. But he changed his mind when he found out where she works. He wanted his son to join the Imperia exam, but the system is cancelled. He then purchased a ran] for him instead. YIK-HUN felt sad about leaving but for his own future, he agreed. CHUN-YUK fell off a cliff while running away from the man. But she was saved by LOK MAY-YUNE, an opera performer. With no where to go, she followed him as his assistance. MOU-KUEN thought CHUN-YUK is dead, and asked LIN-LON for repayment. She did it in kindness, but his mind's still with CHUN-YUK. YUK-HIN has got a position in the Government through help of a relative.

1x11 - Episode 11

May 30, 1988

CHUN-YUK started to avoid MAY-YUNE when he tried to be too close. After PAK-NIN died, YIK-CHEE felt very lonely. HG-FU approached with tender loving care. She excepted him without fear for disapproval. YIK-HUN went with his uncle, JONG MAN-HAN, to inspect a fire that was set burning the opera house. He also met CHUN-YUK and they had a heart to heart talk. JON MAN-HAN on the other hand have set eyes on MAY-YUNE, and tried to get close to him. He somehow liked his persuasion of wealth. HG-FU and YIK-CHEE are now in the open. Although attacked by society, they insisted to be together.

1x13 - Episode 13

June 1, 1988

After his wife died, YU-HIN felt lonely. He let his old servant, KAM-FUK take care of the business, and went to YIK-CHEE who had invited him to stay. YIN-HUN is now a tutor to a very spoiled kid. That reminded him of himself, and he left with pain in memory, Since he’s jobless, CHUN-YUK has to work. He resisted the idea of asking help from his father. YU-HIN met HA-MAI in a gambling house, and they both felt surprisingly close to each other. YIK-HUN followed CHUN-YUK giving a helping hand, but the colleagues laughed at his experience. One day he saved a child from drowning, and they all changed their minds about him.

1x14 - Episode 14

June 2, 1988

MAY-YUNE tried to persuade CHUN-YUK to leave YIK-HUN and be with him. She declined. YIK-HUN is unhappy about being jobless.LEE TAI-CHE reminded him of the country is in need of help. He sprung to the idea. PAT-TUNG co-operate with MOU-KUEN for tea trade. HA-MAI cannot be promoted because of his special background. That made him mad and hated his mother. KAN-YE and LEE TAI-CHE had joined the revolution. They’re ordered to assassinate an officer, LEE KIN-WO, and KAN-YE got wounded.

1x15 - Episode 15

June 3, 1988

PAT-TUNG and MOU-KUEN trade firearms to the revolutionist. They hide the merchandise in the club, and by accident it exploded. They bribed HA-MAI and blamed it to the night watchman. MAY-YUNE kept giving gifts to CHUN-YUK, and YIK-HUN is mad. After she scot him, they announced their wedding. YIK-HUN followed TAI-CHE and found KAN-YE wounded. Understanding their intention and admiring them, he took back him back for treatment. PAT-TUNG and MOU-KUEN set a trap for YU-HIN so that he can pay for their financial mistakes. During the wedding, a group of soldiers shot at them. They escaped.

1x16 - Episode 16

June 6, 1988

KAN-YE took on the secret mission personally and left for Shanghai. But YU- HIN stopped him because he is still unfit, and went for him. YU-KAI overheard about the conspiracy towards his brother, and told him. While being doubtful, YU-HIN found prove. In his anger, he left shanqhai and went back home. HQ-FU disapproved of his father’s behaviour and they had a fight. The revolution party had a warehouse where they hide firearms for later use. It's next door to the YU's warehouse. YIK-HUN arrived at the warehouse and saw the place had been searched. He was caught later when HA-MAI found the firearms hidden in the tea warehouse of his father.

1x17 - Episode 17

June 7, 1988

YIK-CHEE thought he has been used by the Party, and asked him to tell on the others. But he insisted he's one of them and rather die then tell. YIK-CHEE thought the head of police, Nelson, can help her brother and went to him. He tricked her to HA-MAI's house, and tried to seduce her. HA-MAI came back in time and set fire to the house and saved her. NELSON tried again and ransacked her house to search for YIK-HUN as an excuse to provoke her. H0-FU stood up for her. YIK-HUN escaped and on his way to meet the Party member. He met HA-MAI and the members helped him to question about LEE KIN-WO's whereabouts. Knowing LEE will be at the whore house that evening, they. set a plan to assassinate him. NELSON concealed the death of LEE from the Government, and killed...

1x18 - Episode 18

June 8, 1988

CHUN-YUK left MAY-YUNE to look for YIK-HUN. NELSON was ordered to take the LEE murder case. He went to HA-MAI for information, but failed. He again tried to get YIK-HUN. YIK-HUN asked HA-MAI to notify YU-KAI to pick up CHUN-YUK when she arrives. ~ He got caught by NELSON, and everybody thought HA-MAI betrayed him. YIK-CHEE went to Nelson again for information. He told her YIK-HUN's dead. She believed it. NELSON has got YIK-HUN and imprisoned him at KO's house, and HA-MAI has to watch him. HA-MAI wanted to tell H0-FU, but scared of NELSON's power.

1x19 - Episode 19

June 9, 1988

CHUN-YUK, although hurt, strongly believed YIK-HUN is not dead. She met MOU-KUEN and went back with him, and found YIK-HUN is being imprisoned there. She spend the night with MOU-KUEN to have a better chance to save YIK-HUN. YIK-CHEE went to question NELSON about his lie. He took the chance and seduced her. While fighting to get loose, she remembered he's the man who had raped her before. She had him killed accidently. She ran back for help, and KAN-YE first got YIK-HUN freed,. and then put NELSON's body in a bag and dumped it to MOU-KUEN's garden. YIK-CHEE told H0-FU about the pass. He blamed her for being dishonest and asked her to leave Shanghai to start a new life without him.

1x20 - Episode 20

June 10, 1988

HA-MAI was ordered to arrest YIK-CHEE, but by chance he found out she is his mother. He took her back to the YU house and blamed MOU-KUEN instead. MOU?KUEN resented that and bribed the force to arrest him. YIK-HUN wanted to marry CHUN-YUK. She found out she is pregnant with MOU-KUEN and wanted an abortion. He promised to treat the child as his own. YIK-CHEE didn't want HA-MAI to be in trouble because of her, so she committed ‧.. suicide. For revenge, MOU-KUEN took away the baby, until CHUN-YUK is forced to tell him it's his own flesh and blood. What really happened next? Please watch the ending!
