1x1 - Episode 1

August 8, 2008

LING HO-LEUNG and FONG CHEUK-LING are found dead in a car. Police say they are likely victims of carbon monoxide poisoning while having sex inside the car. YIP LAI-CHU, LEUNG’s mother, puts all the blame for her son’s death on her daughter-in-law, SIT CHI-YIU. She believes her son will not have an affair if YIU has treated him good. LING’s husband YIU LAP-TIN does not believe at all that his wife had an affair. He pretends himself as LEUNG’s old school friend and starts to find out any clues from LING’s family. TIN rents a flat next to LING’s family and installs surveillance camera. During his investigation, TIN finds YIU has worked very hard to support the family, she even sells her wedding jewelry in order to get more money. YIU receives a letter and a flash memory drive which are the gifts LEUNG had prepared for their third wedding anniversary before he died. CHU believes YIU is having an affair with TIN……

YIU’s flash memory stick necklace is snatched by a man who has a tattoo. TIN accompanies YIU to the police station. TIN thinks there is something unusual with the video clip inside the memory stick. YIU finds there is a half-hour phrase missing in the clip. TIN tells YIU that he is able to find out the man who attempted to steal the memory stick, nevertheless, YIU asks TIN not to go further about the investigation anymore. Without listening to YIU, TIN finds out the man is called CHAN KEUNG who is a cancer patient and a client of LEUNG. KEUNG kidnaps YIU and demands a ransom of one million dollars from TIN. Eventually, TIN finds YIU on a rooftop and saves her life. KEUNG jumps off the building when TIN is asking him about the memory drive. YIU encounters LEUNG’s boss ANSON TSU YEUK-YUE in a supermarket. YUE finds her a job in his insurance company. YIU works under the supervision of JACKIE CHING NGO-YEE……

YIU scares and faints away. TIN rushes to the hospital to visit her. YIU has decided to quit her job. TIN wants to follow YIU to her office and carry out investigation. TIN finds that there is not any ghost. YUE hires TIN to carry out security tasks on the night when his wife SOPHIE TUNG SZE-TING performs. Staying alone again in the office, YIU becomes very scared. She phones TIN. Later, TIN and YEE find out it is two of the staff who works under YEE made the ghost joke. TIN is blamed by TUNG YAN-WO for not doing a good job as he has left the venue when he is carrying out his duty. At this time, YUE helps to explain about the situation to WO. TIN teaches YIU how to be a successful insurance agent. YIU is able to make her first successful deal finally. KEI brings a drunken young woman home whom he met in the street. CHU does not allow the woman to stay behind in her place……

YING scolds TIN heavily for causing the death of her sister LING, and does not listen to the explanation by TIN at all. Without any choices, TIN has to stay behind at SZE NAI-WAI’s home. YIU is asked to dress in a sexy way when meeting her clients. Fortunately, YUE is there to help YIU so that she does not get harassed. YUE learns the true identity of TIN from YIU. YUE hires TIN again for the security work over the jewelry show organized by WO. TIN brings drunken SUM back home. He settles the debt for SUM and tells SUM that he needs to stay behind at his home. KEI finds a job in a convenience store successfully. During the jewelry show, TIN finds from the surveillance camera that a man is attempting to steal a jewel. He chases the man to a car park. The man threatens to kill YUE. To save YUE, TIM has to let the man go. Unfortunately, TIN hurts YUE accidentally.

TIN accompanies YUE to the hospital. He recognizes YUE is his old friend when he sees the birthmark on his stomach. CHU wins money in the stock market; nevertheless, she loses all the money soon when she buys warrants. YIU finds CHU is disturbed by a finance company for loan repayment. She wants to negotiate with the finance company and asks TIN to go with her together. At last, TIN lends her money to settle the debt. YING invites her friends to TIN's home. YIU tries in vain to stop YING from doing wrong things. She rings TIN for help. YING finally accepts that she has been wrong and asks TIN to come back home and live with her together. The convenient store that KEI works in is robbed. KEI is able to get the money back after a chase. He nevertheless hesitates if he should return the money or keep it by himself. However, this is known by SUM. CHU blames KEI for his selfishness……

CHU finally understands how hard YIU has been working to support the family. She also works hard to earn a living. TIN helps YING to enroll in a college. But YING is not happy with TIN as he makes the decision for subjects she is going to take. YEE gets sick. YIU meets YUE when she is visiting YEE. YEE does not want the affair between YUE and herself been disclosed, she makes up an excuse and asks YIU to leave. YUE finds TIN is unhappy when they go fishing together. Then, he knows that TIN is worrying about YING's chance for school admission. TIN feels grateful when YUE suggests YING should try to enroll in the school where SOPHIE is the school governor. CHU makes a mistake that her son has read pornography. She sees him going into a building that is full of prostitute syndicates. YIU seeks the help from TIN after CHU has talked to her about KEI……

MING tells YIU frankly about his past. YIU gets very angry with MING for he has abandoned his family. MING hopes very much that KEI will stay longer in his shop. YIU feels extremely difficult as MING wants her to keep it secret, he does not want CHU to know about it. KEI wins the comics competition. CHU encounters MING in a gold jewelry shop when she is buying KEI a gift. MING is delighted to learn about KEI’s achievement, he buys a gold pig and needs CHU to send KEI the gift. CHU earns a lot of money by reselling the garments MING has given to KEI. Then, she talks to YIU that she wants to get more merchandise from the garment shop. After YIU has tried in vain to stop CHU, she informs MING in advance that CHU is coming over to his shop. YUE's idea helps Yan Wo Group in wining a design competition. WO buys him a house as a gift. Actually, YUE wants to work in WO's company rather than receiving any gifts……

YIU worries so much as KEI and CHU still have not come back home. CHU realizes that YIU cares about her so much when she has learnt the conversation between TIN and YIU. At this time, KEI is home. He apologizes to CHU. MING visits KEI once when he knows that CHU is going outside. He encourages KEI that he should never give up his dream. YIU finds YUE is using a very special cell phone strap, she is told by YUE that the strap is unique because it is designed by Sophie. CHU and MING meet each other in the street. MING says to CHU that she should not keep KEI at home all the time. CHU finally promises to allow KEI to work in HUNG's garment shop and meets with HUNG and MING to negotiate the employment terms. CHU and HUNG does not get along with each other. MING cannot bear anymore and tells them about his true feelings. YEE and YUE secretly enjoy a short break to Macau……

YIU has a discussion with TIN after she has discovered that YUE and YEE are having an affair. She asks TIN for advice if she should talk to YEE and her affair with ANSON. TIN thinks YIU should not do anything about it. YUE seeks the help from TIN for dealing with the blackmail concerning WO and needs the service of TIN's company to provide twenty-four-hour protection to WO. TIN asks WO if he is in enmity with anyone. Then, WO tells TIN about something that happened long time ago. WO sends someone to investigate and what he gets is the news of YUEN KAI's death in jail, who was his former business partner. And KAI's son YUEN SIU-KWAN has gone missing. WAI's wife CHING is not happy as WAI has been too busy to go home. Unfortunately, their home gets robbed. CHING and her son KWONG are very scared, though they do not get hurt. WAI does not appear even CHING gets sick and faints at home……

WAI receives a phone call from the kidnapper. The kidnapper threatens to kill his wife and son and forces him to shoot Sophie. Without speaking to anyone about the dialogue for the fear that his wife and son's lives will be endangered, WAI is going to kill SOPHIE. The kidnapper KWAN makes it clear to WAI that he will not release them until he read the news about SOPHIE's death. TIN predicts that KWAN will not set them free. He needs WAI to pretend that he has killed Sophie. Eventually, TIN is able to find KWAN out. TIN suddenly thinks of the star folding habit of LING. Soon, he discovers the messages inside LING's lucky stars and the sender of the stars called himself "D". TIN tells YIU about it. YIU makes a mistake that TIN is overanxious about YING for starting a love relationship. YIU wants to show him the things left behind by LEUNG……

TIN decides not to disclose the truth as he does not want to hurt YIU’s family. TIN and YIU come back home together. CHU scolds TIN as she thinks he wanted to harass YIU. YIU finds that WAI has not taken good care of KWONG, WAI and his wife are thinking about divorce after a dispute. WAI forces to leave with KWONG together. YIU cannot tolerate with TIN anymore, she brings him to a back alley and pour water over him. Eventually, TIN is able to stand up and face reality. YING finds out at last her sister was killed by LEUNG. TIN and YIU attempt to stop her informing police. TIN follows YUEN when his is buying medicine and soon he realizes WAI hides KWONG at YUEN’s home. TIN persuades WAI that he should talk with his wife seriously about the foster care of their own son. SOPHIE discovers the button on YUE’s clothes is fixed unusually. WO hires a private detective to investigate YUE……

YIU loses temper with YEE and YUE. She asks them to end their relationship as soon as possible. YUE thinks WO may know about his affair. Although he attempts to explain to WO about it, WO simply does not listen to him. Nevertheless, he manages to gain the trust from SOPHIE. YEE wants to end the relationship as she does not want to become a burden to YUE. KEI meets YING in the street. YING vents all her anger about her sister’s death on KEI. YING coaxes KEI into going a love hotel with her together. Then, she phones TIN and tells him that KEI attempts to sexually harass her. TIN rushes to save YING and beats KEI badly. CHU scolds KEI and leaks out the truth that LEUNG was the murderer. KEI sends YING a card to ask for forgiveness. Finally, YING is getting good together with YIU’s family. YIU introduces TIN to her client CHAN KAU when she knows that the client wants to hire a bodyguard……

YIU helps to provide evidences of KAU's insurance fraud for police investigation. Her effort is reward with star of the month in her company. On her birthday, YEE receives a flower bouquet and a text message from YUE. Yet good things never last, she encounters YUE and SOPHIE who are dinning in a restaurant. YIU wants to pair up YEE with SUM. YEE quickly promises to meet with SUM when YIU tells her about it. SUM is so funny that YEE cannot stop laughing when talking to him. YIU believes chance is high for them to develop a relationship. KEI finally accepts the fact that MING is his father. To everyone's surprise, CHU does not show any signs of disagreement in this matter. After meeting with SUM, YEE tells YIU frankly that she has not got any special feelings towards him……

In a party, SOPHIE asks YEE to come on the stage to give her and YUE best wishes. YEE feels extremely difficult. She feels sweet relief soon when YUE helps her out. YEE does not go to work. YUE worries and visits her at home. He feels heartbreak to find YEE is torturing herself with drugs and alcohol. SOPHIE is eager to find her husband a job placement in Yan Wo Group, she hopes her man will leave YEE soon. YUE gives TIN a security task again, and the mission this time is to protect a pet dog. LUNG and TIN are responsible to guard the dog in a village house. LUNG enjoys very much the time she works with TIN together. SUM accompanies YIU and CHU to the market. To ease SUM's illness, YIU gives him ginseng slices. SUM giddily tells TIN about it. TIN is not happy and loses his temper with LUNG, he blames her for damaging YIU's gift. TIN and YIU search through again the things left behind by LING and LEUNG……

Dr. Daniel meets TIN and tells him the fact that he loved LING. By now, TIN realizes the lucky stars and red wine to his wife were sent by Daniel. Conflict evoked again between CHU and HUNG. The dispute is not settled until KEI pretends himself wanting to jump off a building. SOPHIE asks YIU to take over a school insurance project. YIU suspects money laundering in the company when she is reading the insurance policy handled by YEE. She informs YUE about the scam. After retrieving computer data, YIU is told the policy was in fact managed by LEUNG before. YIU tells TIN that LEUNG may be used to help launder money and recalls a client’s name called TO FUNG. TIN immediately thinks of the suspect that SUM has just arrested. YUE sends WO to the hospital who is suffering from sudden heart attack. WO decides to assign YUE as the person in charge of the elderly village project. In view of this, YUE decides not to meet YEE in the meantime……

YEE promises YUE that she will wait for him. SUM ransacks FUNG’s garage and finds out an account book. FUNG does not mention anyway who is the one behind the curtain. YIU finds YEE is scolding a woman badly in a car park. YIU sends the fainting woman to the hospital. Soon, she knows that the woman is YEE’s mother LIU LAI-NGO, and that NGO has cancer. YIU hopes YEE will visit her mother, however, YEE is indifferent to her mother. TIN successfully coaxes FUNG’s wife into disclosing the secret that FUNG is helping WO to launder money. He speculates LEUNG was killed because he wanted to get away. TIN asks in vain for YUE’s help to collect evidence. WO discovers YUE’s car is planted with a bug. YUE gets mad and breaks off with TIN. YEE coaxes YUE into coming to her home. She quietly takes photos when she is lingering with him. WO is shocked and enraged after he has received the photos. He gets sudden heart attack after falling off stairs.

WO suffers a cerebral hemorrhage and falls into a coma. YUE suggests that he should take charge of Yan Wo Group. YUE secretly deletes a surveillance camera recording. SUM invites YIU to Macau for celebration of his birthday, yet she turns him down. YUE starts working in Yan Wo Group. YUE feels extremely helpless after everyone has paid no heed to his suggestion. Frustrated, YUE pours out his heart to YEE. They quickly patch up their relationship. NGO tells YIU that she had an extramarital affair with a married man. NGO is seriously deteriorated; YEE finally patches up the relationship with her mother. SUM confesses his love to YIU in his birthday party, he however gets turned down again. YUE successfully causes SOPHIE to push the directors to accept himself as the new president of Yan Wo Group. He sacks MOK YING-KIT immediately after he has gained control of the company……

YUE tells the police that he killed LEUNG and LING. SOPHIE provides evidence that YUE was not in Hong Kong and could not be a murderer. The soft news story about YUE and SOPHIE has made YEE envy. NGO is invited to dinner at YIU’s home after touring around the city with YIU’s family together. YIU gets NGO a scarf in her bedroom. NGO is stunned when she sees the wedding picture of YIU and LEUNG. TIN realizes that LUNG and YUEN start dating. TIN thinks of YIU when LUNG tells him how important it is for a woman if there is someone to care about her when she feels sad. YEE wants to share with YUE her grief over the loss of her mother. She tells him she wants to end her life. YIU reads the letter written to her by NGO when she collects the scarf she has given to NGO before. In the letter, NGO told her that YEE had an affair with LEUNG. YIU questions YEE about the affair……

TIN and YIU are lucky to survive after a fatal car accident. They cannot wait anymore to express their love for each other. After investigation, SUM confirms the car accident was premeditated. He tells TIN further that YEE had made a phone call to YUE before she committed suicide. SOPHIE claims that YUE was staying with her together. KIT demands five million dollars from YUE to keep the secret behind WO’s injury. After TIN has heard the conversation between them, he tells SOPHIE that he suspects YUE has caused delay in rescuing WO deliberately, because he casts his greedy eyes on WO’s wealth. It is found that YUE has used a fake passport. YEE regains consciousness in the hospital. She tells YIU that she did not commit suicide. When YIU is about to call the police, there is someone quietly standing behind her…
