The Prime Minister voices his concern about the outcome of Samar's arrest to Gangadhar. Gangadhar asks him to send Raghunath to look into the security at Samar's village. Nelson and Malcolm unleash terror on the villagers, so Samar reveals his identity, but the villagers fight bravely against the British. Nelson then holds the groom at knifepoint, so Samar goes to fight but is held back by the British soldiers. Samar surrenders but Nelson kills the groom. Laxmibai arrives just then and warns Malcolm not to even touch Samar Singh, so he shows her the arrest warrant signed by Gangadhar. Laxmibai is shocked. The mayhem unnerves Laxmibai and Tatya Tope. An elder lady accuses Gangadhar for getting Samar arrested and blames him for treason! She curses that even Gangadhar will pine for his child someday! Laxmibai vows by her motherland that Nelson will have to pay for this bloodshed, and that she would free Samar and Karma.

Laxmibai is upset to know that Samar Singh and Karma have been arrested as per Gangadhar's order. Gangadhar is informed that Lord Dalhousie wants him to attend a meeting in Gwalior. When Laxmibai gets ready to return to her palace, she feels a little faint. However, she manages to reach the palace and learns that Gangadhar has left for Gwalior. Dalhousie warns Gangadhar that as per the Doctrine of Lapse, Jhansi would soon go to the East India Company because he did not have an heir. However, Gangadhar assures him that his queen was capable of managing Jhansi, in the event of his death. Dalhousie taunts about a woman running his kingdom, so Gangadhar reminds Dalhousie that even his queen is a woman! Nelson admits to a furious Laxmibai that Samar did not kill Ross; he did. Just then, he receives a court order and informs Laxmibai that Samar Singh and Karma would be hanged unto death. Laxmibai collapses hearing the news.

The royal physician announces that the queen is pregnant. Everyone is thrilled. However, he advises Indu to make sure that the queen gets as much rest as possible because she is anaemic. Meanwhile, in Gwalior, Lord Dalhousie warns Gangadhar to solve the problem involving Samar Singh, else Jhansi would be annexed, but Gangadhar assures him that all problems would be tackled. Bhagirathi appears again before Laxmibai and tells her that she is pregnant. Laxmibai is delighted. Bhagirathi advises her to abide by her duties as a wife and a queen because she has great responsibilities now. In the midst of the meeting, Gangadhar gets a letter informing him that Laxmibai is pregnant. Gangadhar proudly announces to Dalhousie that Jhansi will soon have an heir. Dalhousie is dismayed. Back in Jhansi, it is announced that Samar Singh and Karma would be killed in a cannon blast the next afternoon.

Laxmibai manages to release Samar Singh and Karma, and they thank her. She tells Samar that they must seek revenge for the injustices inflicted on the villagers and absolve the king of the blame. Laxmibai kisses her lucky charm tied on her wrist. Kashi, disguised as the queen, informs a shocked Indu and Chimnabai that Laxmibai has gone to save Samar and Karma. Meanwhile, Nelson informs Malcolm that the man in disguise was none other than Laxmibai. Nelson vows to prove that Laxmibai is not a queen but a bandit, and this would disgrace the king as well. Meanwhile, Samar, Karma and Laxmibai speed on a bullock cart to the palace but Nelson, who is chasing them, shoots Samar and Karma. The cart gets stuck in slush and the frightened bullocks free themselves and run away. Laxmibai gets down and tries to pull out the cart herself. The good luck charm given to her to protect her pregnancy falls down.

Samar Singh and Karma, burdened with grief and guilt, are unable to tell the queen the truth. Tatya Tope arrives later, and Samar Singh and Karma break the news to him. Tatya Tope is heartbroken. Meanwhile, Nelson rejoices at his success as he is certain that Laxmibai must have surely had a miscarriage. Nelson writes to Fort William to have a battalion sent to Jhansi because of the prevalent anarchy. Fort William accepts Nelson's request and also assures him of a promotion. Meanwhile, Gangadhar arrives in the village to take Laxmibai home. He is upset with her, but when he sees her, he smiles. Daima enters just then and praises the king for being so brave and understanding in spite of such a great tragedy. She says that the queen would have trouble conceiving a second time. Daima realises that the king and queen are not aware about the miscarriage. Gangadhar and Laxmibai are devastated at the news. Gangadhar accuses Laxmibai for the loss and walks away in anger.

Laxmibai tries to convince Gangadhar about her innocence but he walks away in fury. When he returns to the palace, he is upset at the welcome. Laxmibai too comes to the palace and informs Moropant and Chimnabai about her miscarriage. Moropant accuses her of betraying Gangadhar's trust as a queen and a wife. He warns her to mend her ways at least now. Laxmibai pleads with Gangadhar to forgive her but he accuses her of only wanting to be a warrior, not a mother. He says that she would have even made her child as selfish as her. He then gives her an ultimatum ' she should remain either a queen and a warrior, or a wife and a mother. Gangadhar declares that, henceforth, they would stay in separate chambers. Laxmibai is shattered with his announcement.

Indu tries to stop Siddesh who keeps crying to meet the king but Gangadhar does not heed even the cries of a child. Laxmibai removes all her ornaments and wears a black sari. On the other hand, thoughts of allegations from his subjects for not providing an heir, and of Dalhousie asking him where the heir was, overwhelm the king. Gangadhar tells Moropant that Laxmibai could not be a good wife, a good mother or a good queen. Moropant apologises to Gangadhar and asks him to remarry. Meanwhile, Laxmibai's depression turns into hysteria. She then climbs the 'malkhamb' pole to find an answer to the king's ultimatum. On the other hand, Nelson writes a letter to Gangadhar informing him that an English battalion would be arriving in Jhansi soon. Back in the village, the midwife pleads with Karma and Samar to find a remedy for the queen's plight.

Samar waits for Laxmibai's order but she tells him that she has vowed to be only a mother, not a warrior. Samar tries to dissuade her but she remains firm and asks him to tackle matters peacefully. Gangadhar reads Nelson's letter informing him about the arrival of British battalion in Jhansi because of the poor law and order situation in Jhansi. Nelson then reminds the king of how Laxmibai rescued the prisoners from British custody in spite of Gangadhar's orders to arrest them. Gangadhar is embarrassed and questions Tatya Tope about Nelson's allegations. Tatya Tope informs Gangadhar about the mayhem in Samar's village, and how Nelson had violated Gangadhar's order.

Laxmibai decides to leave the palace but her alter ego reminds her to stand by her husband through thick and thin, and asks her to understand Gangadhar's plight. Meanwhile, Gangadhar asks the Prime Minister to inform Nelson that he will personally inspect the battalion. On the other hand, Samar and Karma gather materials to make handmade explosives. Daima hears about Samar and Karma's plan and tells Laxmibai about it. A worried Laxmibai decides to inform the king but is told that he has left to inspect the new battalion. Looking at the arms and ammunition, Gangadhar asks Nelson whether the battalion is here to protect Jhansi or capture it. Just then, Samar orders his men to throw the bombs. Laxmibai reaches the spot and informs Gangadhar about Samar and Karma's plans.

Nelson tortures Samar and Karma, and drags them through the streets of Jhansi to warn people about the consequence of challenging the British rule. Meanwhile, an Englishman, John Lang, keeps writing about the peaceful protests in India in his newspaper - The Mofussilite. Laxmibai too gets to hear about it. On the festive occasion of `Raksha Bandhan', Laxmibai gives Nelson the permission letter to meet her brothers. She is horrified to see Samar and Karma badly tortured and vows to have them freed soon. Nelson is furious reading John's articles praising the Indians, especially Laxmibai, so he flings it. Laxmibai picks it and Nelson taunts her about being uneducated. However, Malcolm and he are stunned to hear her speak in impeccable English.

Nelson bribes Samar Singh with freedom by asking him to confess about Laxmibai's role in releasing him. However, Samar spits on Nelson. Nelson continues to torture Samar and Karma so much that they collapse. Laxmibai meets John Lang for the first time. She requests John to save Samar and Karma, and John agrees. John says that he needs secrecy and privacy, so Laxmibai replies that he would get it in her palace but only after seeking her king's permission. On the other hand, Gangadhar asks Raghunath to find out where Laxmibai has gone with Tatya Tope, and why. The subjects of Jhansi voice their grievances about the injustices inflicted by the new battalion, and about Jhansi being in deeper trouble because Gangadhar lacks an heir. Gangadhar promises to look into their problems personally. When he sees Laxmibai outside, he taunts her again about only Samar and Karma being everything to her. Laxmibai gets upset. She orders Tatya Tope to bring John to the palace at the earliest.

When a British officer tries to kill a little boy, John manages to save him at the nick of time. John and the officer have a verbal duel. John threatens to take him to King Gangadhar's court. Laxmibai tries to explain that with Lang's help they will be able to free Samar Singh and Karma using the legal procedures of the British. Gangadhar tells her that they should be punished as they tried to blow up the British battalion in his presence. Laxmibai vows that not a single Englishman would remain in Jhansi, and even the new battalion would leave it! Laxmibai promises him that as long as she is alive, no harm would befall Jhansi. Meanwhile, John prepares a case against the atrocities of Nelson. Queen Laxmibai signs the documents. John narrates to Laxmibai how Nelson had destroyed his life as well. Hearing that Samar Singh and Karma are still alive, Nelson decides to burn them alive. However, Laxmibai arrives just then and warns Nelson to stop.

When Nelson sees that it's John fighting Laxmibai's case, he reminds John about his license to practise law being revoked for 2 years. However, John retorts that the ban period was already over. Left with no choice, Nelson stops torturing Samar and Karma and asks his men to take them to their cell. Sakhubai, Jankibai and Lacho display fake concern and advise Gangadhar to remarry so that Jhansi is assured of an heir. Gangadhar gets furious and retorts that Jhansi will soon have an heir. Daima tells Gangadhar that if given healthy food and taken proper care of, the queen will be able to beget an heir soon. However, Gangadhar orders John to leave the palace at once. Laxmibai promises Gangadhar that they will win the case but Gangadhar replies that his decision remains firm. Not the one to give up easily, Laxmibai rings the bell to seek justice from the king and compels him to hear her plea.

Laxmibai voices her plea to Gangadhar. She narrates the kind of mayhem that was unleashed by the British at Samar's sister's wedding, and the chain of events from that moment on till date. How the British had conspired at every step against Jhansi. Laxmibai demands justice from the King of Jhansi. However, he merely walks away without answering. Laxmibai is hurt and disappointed at his lack of trust in her. Gangadhar informs Raghunath that he will be setting off on a secretive journey. Laxmibai is surprised to hear that the king has gone away without even informing her. Moropant tells her that Gangadhar must have gone to remarry. Laxmibai is distraught hearing this and says that she doesn't deserve to stay in the palace anymore. However, she vows to remove the British battalion from Jhansi before leaving, even if it meant stepping over a queen's limits.

Laxmibai tells Moropant that she did her duty as a queen when she saved Samar and Karma. Moropant chides her that she should have waited for Tatya Tope to free Samar and Karma. Laxmibai tells her father that she is equally shattered on losing her unborn child as any other mother would be. Laxmibai laments that Gangadhar has gone to remarry as he does not love or trust her anymore. Gangadhar is haunted by Laxmibai's pleas for justice. In the court proceedings against Samar and Karma, the lawyer builds a strong case. John Lang demands judicial custody of Samar and Karma. Samar and Karma thank Laxmibai. Laxmibai tells them that she will never let anything happen to them as they have to drive out the British battalion from Jhansi. Nelson meets the jailor and makes an evil plan. He plans to keep Samar and Karma with the most ferocious prisoners so that they will be killed and Nelson will not be blamed. He keeps Samar with Fateh Singh and Karma with Jwala, who are deadly and cruel criminals.

He threatens Nelson that he will tell Laxmibai about Captain Ross's real murderer. Nelson tells his soldiers to take Kundan away. Laxmibai sees Kundan being dragged by the British and wonders who he is. John Lang and Laxmibai are shocked when Nelson proves that Samar Singh has killed Captain Ross by providing Samar's necklace as proof. Laxmibai blames herself for not being a good wife to Gangadhar. She thinks that Gangadhar has gone to find himself a new wife. Gangadhar meets Lord Dalhousie to free Samar Singh and Karma.

Samar Singh is shocked when Kundan confesses to him that he stole the necklace on Nelson's behest. Kundan tells Samar and Karma that Nelson has killed Ross. In the court, Samar Singh and Karma try to signal a message to Laxmibai about the locket. Laxmibai is shocked when Nelson proves Samar Singh killed Captain Ross. When the judge is about to pronounce his sentence, Laxmibai asks the judge permission to seek blessings from Samar Singh. Samar manages to tell Laxmibai that Kundan is a witness who can prove his innocence.

Laxmibai dreams that Gangadhar is getting married again and gets disturbed. Gangadhar accepts a marriage proposal from the royal family. Laxmibai gets the order of presenting Kundan in court. Nelson wants to shoot Kundan but the jailor stops him. The people of Jhansi come to know of Laxmibai's efforts to protect Samar and Karma. They too reach court in support of Laxmibai. When Laxmibai leaves for court, she sees servants carrying wedding gifts. She is hurt that Gangadhar is marrying again. Tatya Guru reminds Laxmibai of her purpose. Moropant is distressed that Gangadhar has accepted the proposal. Laxmibai wipes her tears and gets ready to go to the court.

The judge pronounces the verdict that Samar Singh be hanged until death for the murder of Captain Ross. While being taken to the prison Karma pleads to Nelson to hang him instead of Samar Singh. The shrewd Nelson offers to toss a coin to decide between Samar and Karma. Nelson taunts Laxmibai but she tells him that only time will prove who has won. The people hail Samar Singh. Gangadhar receives the news of Samar Singh's sentence and immediately leaves for Jhansi. Laxmibai picks up her sword and decides to teach the British a lesson. But then Motibai reminds her of her promise to Gangadhar. Laxmibai decides to use her intelligence to defeat the British and save Samar. Fateh Khan and Jwala too pray for Samar Singh. The prison inmates hail Samar Singh. Laxmibai wants to file an appeal in the court. The officer says that it is impossible as a lot of signatures would be required to file the appeal.

At the palace, an Indian guard of the British jail comes to meet Laxmibai. He tells Laxmibai that the prisoners are ready to rise against the British. Laxmibai disguises as a soldier and meets Fateh Khan. Laxmibai inspires him to revolt against the British. Fateh Khan tells her that Kundan had told him how he had stolen the pendant from Samar Singh which he sold to Nelson. Nelson killed Captain Ross and kept the pendant in the dead body's hand. Laxmibai drafts a letter of appeal to pardon Samar and gets all the prisoners to sign the letter. The officer tells Lang and Laxmibai to wait till nine thirty am as that is when the court opens. Nelson comes to know of this and prepones Samar Singh's hanging. Laxmibai gets the stay order and rushes to the prison. Laxmibai is shocked to know that Nelson has already left to get Samar Singh executed.

Laxmibai is shocked to know that Samar's execution has been preponed. Nelson shrugs off when he learns that the stay order has been passed. Laxmibai screams out Samar's name. Samar hears her voice and talks to her across the wall which separates them. Samar tells Laxmibai to rejoice on his death and to use his death as the first step towards kicking out the British battalion. Samar thanks her for showing her the true path. Laxmibai speaks to the people of Jhansi gathered outside the prison. She inspires the people to revolt against the British. Nelson asks Samar his last wish. Samar tells him that all the Indians will fulfill his last wish by kicking out the British from India. The people of Jhansi take to the streets in protest against the British. The British battalion is forced to flee when they see the horde of people attacking them. Samar is hanged.

Laxmibai tells Gangadhar that she has fulfilled her promise of driving the British battalion out of Jhansi without bloodshed. Lord Dalhousie gets very angry that the battalion has been driven out by common people. He decides to send a political agent to Jhansi. Ellis is a British man who was well versed with Hindu customs. Samar Singh is cremated with full honours. Nelson comes to the cremation and tells Gangadhar that the British are angered by the driving away of the battalion. Gangadhar insults him and asks him to leave. Laxmibai apologises to Gangadhar and tells him that all that she has done has been for the good of Jhansi. A couple comes to Gangadhar's court begging for justice. The woman tells Gangadhar that her husband keeps on threatening to leave her. The man tells Gangadhar that his wife lost their child when she took a risk to save another child. Gangadhar is in a dilemma as he remembers Laxmibai's predicament when she too had done the same.

Gangadhar remembers how he had become angry on Laxmibai when she had lost their child. He goes to speak to Laxmibai but does not find her. Laxmibai is at the crematorium sitting besides the ashes of Samar Singh. Ellis comes there and picks a handful of the ashes. Laxmibai is surprised to hear the British man pray in Sanskrit. Ellis tells her that he had come to pay his respects and goes away. Gangadhar is worried as Laxmibai cannot be found anywhere. Ellis reads out the order from Fort Williams that Gangadhar still holds all the administrative powers. Gangadhar is pleased and gives all the credit to his queen, Rani Laxmibai. Gangadhar finds Laxmibai in a temple. He begs Laxmibai to return to the palace and take part in the celebrations at the palace. He asks her if she does not want to meet the bride. Laxmibai agrees to come to the palace. Laxmibai is in tears when she sees the bride. Gangadhar asks her if she agrees to the marriage.

Ellis plans to win over the confidence of the King of Jhansi. Nelson beats up the Indians who are celebrating the festival of 'Ganesh Chaturthi'. He bans the celebration of the festival. Laxmibai gets angry when she hears this. Ellis stops Nelson from committing atrocities on the Indians. Nelson leaves. Laxmibai arrives and she thinks Ellis is trying to stop the festivities. She warns Ellis. Daima's grand daughter, Ganga, wants to see the queen. Gangadhar Rao and Laxmibai are shocked when they get the news that the king of Sambalpur has passed away and that the East India Company will annex the state.

Gangadhar Rao and Laxmibai are shocked when they get the news that the king of Sambalpur has passed away and that the East India Company will annex it. Jankibai taunts Laxmibai that they should think of Jhansi instead of Sambalpur. Gangadhar Rao gets angry at her comment and asks her to clarify. Jankibai taunts that what was most important at that moment was to get an heir for Jhansi. Laxmi Bai has no option but to keep quiet and bear the humiliation. Ellis tells Nelson that he has come to repair the image of East India Company. Laxmibai sees Ganga trying to climb the 'Malkhamb' pole. Daima pleads to Laxmibai to pardon Ganga's audacity. Laxmibai wants to show Ganga how to climb the 'malkhamb' but Ganga stops her. Ganga tells Laxmibai that the people of Jhansi say that because Laxmibai practices 'malkhamb", horse riding and sword fighting, she will never be able to give Jhansi its heir. Unfortunately, Gangadhar Rao too hears Ganga's words.

Gangadhar tells Laxmibai that people will talk and it is not wise to listen to them. Laxmibai tells Gangadhar that she vows to sacrifice everything to bear an heir for Jhansi. Daima and Ganga tremble with fear when they are summoned by Gangadhar. Laxmibai tells Gangadhar to forgive Ganga. Gangadhar tells Daima to live in the palace and take care of Laxmibai so that she can conceive. Ellis visits Gangadhar and tells him that Jhansi need not fear East India Company taking over. Ellis tells Gangadhar that he would love to take part in the religious ceremonies. Gangadhar is impressed by Ellis's interest in the Indian tradition and culture. During the 'aarti'(singing of the hymn), a lizard falls on Jankibai's hand and she throws the burning lamp in fear.

Ganga saves Laxmibai from getting injured during the 'aarti'. Laxmibai thanks Ganga for saving her life. Laxmibai gives Ganga her jewels and new clothes. Ellis gets lost in the palace. Laxmibai pulls Ellis's leg when he mistakes Ganga as the Queen of Jhansi. Ganga tells Laxmibai that she had only heard about the greatness of the Queen and is very pleased that she witnessed it too. Hirabai, whom Gangadhar considers as his elder sister, comes to Jhansi. Hirabai tells Gangadhar that the British have taken over Sambalpur. She tells Gangadhar that he should have an heir to protect Jhansi as the British do not consider adopted children as legal heirs. Hirabai taunts Laxmibai for not having the heir of Jhansi yet.

Hirabai tells Laxmibai that the British will annex Jhansi if there is no heir soon. Nelson tries to complain to Lord Dalhousie that Ellis is not following the British policy. Dalhousie tells Nelson that Ellis is doing what he is supposed to do and that Nelson should continue on his plan. Laxmibai is worried about being unable to give an heir to Jhansi. Gangadhar tells her that he is always with her and that everything will be alright. Hirabai again taunts Laxmibai about the heir to Jhansi. Laxmibai does not feel quite well. Daima examines her and tells Laxmibai that she's pregnant. Laxmibai is very happy and gives Gangadhar the good news. Gangadhar is very excited. Even Hirabai is very happy that Jhansi will get an heir. Jankibai and Nelson are upset on hearing the news of Laxmibai's pregnancy.

Laxmibai asks Gangadhar not to announce about her pregnancy to the people of Jhansi till she completes three months. Dalhousie gets very upset when he hears the news of Laxmibai's pregnancy. He directs Nelson that Jhansi should never get an heir even if it means that Laxmibai should die. Hirabai tells Laxmibai that they should visit the temple of the Goddess. Nelson gets the news and sets a trap to kill Laxmibai. Ellis again mistakes Ganga to be the queen of Jhansi. Hirabai tells Laxmibai to get used to living away from Gangadhar. Lord Dalhousie gets very angry when he hears about Gangadhar's marriage. He orders Nelson to stop the marriage. Nelson assures Dalhousie that all this is according to their plan and that the new queen will be a puppet in their hands. Gangadhar is distressed when he sees all the proposals that have come for him. Laxmibai interviews the proposals that have come and rejects all of them. Hirabai tells Laxmibai that she is rejecting the proposals as she does not want to get Gangadhar married. Laxmibai and the royal ladies attend the immersion festival of Lord Ganesha. A desolate Gangadhar shares his decision of self-immolation with his ministers. Laxmi Bai regains consciousness and is in labour. Raghunath lights the self-immolation pyre. Jhansi celebrates the arrival of its crown prince. Dalhousie is angry with Nelson, and an apologetic Nelson promises to kill the crown prince. At Laxmi Bai's request, Gangadhar does not punish her. The crown prince's naming ceremony is planned. Sunder goes to fetch milk for the ceremony, and Lachchu Bai feeds poisonous milk to an infant.

Burning with revenge, Lachchu Bai digs the ground to bury Damodar and is shocked to see Anand Rao's name written on his arm. A dying Vasudha tells Laxmi Bai that she has sacrificed her son for Jhansi. Laxmi Bai rescues Anand Rao from Lachchu Bai. An angry Gangadhar arrives with his men and orders for Lachchu Bai to be buried alive.

To repay her debt of gratitude to Vasudha, Laxmi Bai adopts Anand Rao. Nelson arrives at the court disguised as Sage Sudarshan and gives a box with a fake snake, which camouflages a real snake. He gives it for Damodar's protection and asks for it to be placed by the side of his cot. At night, Nelson has someone play the snake-charmer's instrument, which disturbs Anand Rao. Laxmi Bai and Gangadhar try to pacify him. The snake from the box gets activated and bites Damodar.

Nelson kills the snake so that it cannot be used to remove Damodar's poison. All the snake charmers of Jhansi play their instruments in an attempt to bring the snake back. Seeing Damodar's critical condition, the palace doctor suggests the use of an allopathic antidote. Nelson breaks the last bottle of the antidote and threatens the doctor. Ellis is informed about the presence of Nelson in Jhansi. Laxmi Bai and Tatya Tope arrive at the clinic and, with the aid of Ellis, look for the antidote.

Laxmi Bai finds a bottle of the antidote, which the doctor terms a miracle, but it is too late. Damodar breathes his last. Moropant reminds a grief-stricken Gangadhar about his duty as a husband and as a king. Laxmi Bai and Gangadhar recall Damodar's short life. Vahini Saheb asks Gangadhar to have patience. Damodar is given his last bath. Gangadhar takes Damodar's foot and hand prints and takes him to perform the last rites. Laxmi Bai breaks down, and Nelson rejoices at his victory.

During Damodar's last journey, Ellis warns Nelson. Happy with Nelson's success at killing Damodar, Lord Dalhousie reinstates Nelson and promises him the post of Assistant Governor General if he kills Gangadhar. Amidst tears, Damodar is buried with his toy horse. A mournful Laxmi Bai misses Damodar. She apologises to Anand Rao for immersing herself in her grief and neglecting him. Feeling dejected and incapable, Gangadhar finds no purpose in life. Laxmi Bai urges him to find solace in Anand Rao.

Nelson instigates the crowd by firing at the people. Gangadhar is stabbed trying to rescue a child.

Ellis urges Tatya Tope and the ministers to take Gangadhar for the treatment of his injury. Gangadhar makes Tatya Tope and the others promise that Laxmi Bai will not be told about his injury. Gangadhar calls for an urgent meeting in the court wherein he declares Anand Rao as the next King of Jhansi.

Gangadhar interrupts Laxmi Bai's questions and tells Ellis to expedite the formalities concerning the legal adoption of Anand Rao. Gangadhar and Laxmi Bai perform the `puja' for Anand Rao's adoption. Ellis signs the legal document and, while countersigning, Gangadhar's strength wanes and his condition is out in the open. Nelson is unhappy to see Ellis arrive with the legal document proclaiming Jhansi's safety. Everyone offers fervent prayers for Gangadhar's recovery.

Laxmi Bai imagines Gangadhar's death and her widowhood. She is woken up from her stupor by a fakir, who urges her not to lose time. Nelson asks Rao Dulhajo to kill Gangadhar. Nelson stabs the British doctor, and the dying doctor confesses the truth to Laxmi Bai. With the ministers trying to control the unrest, Rao Dulhajo gets the opportunity to stab Gangadhar.

Laxmi Bai motivates the jobless British army soldiers of Indian origin to fight for Jhansi. Lord Dalhousie approaches Ali Bahadur, who wants to avenge Lachchu Bai's death.

Lord Dalhousie promises Ali Bahadur the throne of Jhansi within 10 days by crippling Jhansi with economic pressure. Gangadhar approaches the merchants to loan him money on interest to set up a large army. Ali Bahadur bribes the greedy merchants, and they defect. The merchants decline Gangadhar's proposal. Ali Bahadur presents himself in the court of Jhansi as their ally. Ellis reads a message from Lord Dalhousie stating the East India Company's decision to make Ali Bahadur the King of Jhansi.

Ali Bahadur is arrested. Laxmi Bai tries to dissuade Gangadhar from going to Kanpur, but he leaves to meet Lord Dalhousie. Consumed with greed, Ali Bahadur states his overconfidence in getting the throne of Jhansi to Rao Dulhajo. Lord Dalhousie deceives Gangadhar into believing that, in return for the British flag being reinstated on the commissary, he would maintain Gangadhar's rulership and give the merchants' money to him. Laxmi Bai threatens Ali Bahadur. Rao Dulhajao helps him escape.

Laxmi Bai saves Tatya Tope from the attackers. They find a lifeless Gangadhar in the lake. Tatya Tope blames himself for the lapse in security. Whilst everyone gives up, Laxmi Bai refuses to accept the fact. Everyone's hopes are revived when they see some movement in Gangadhar. An unconscious Gangadhar is brought back to Jhansi and a deathly silence welcomes them. Lord Dalhousie refuses to believe Ali Bahadur till an official statement is issued from the palace regarding Gangadhar's death.

Gangadhar refuses to consume the allopathic medicine given by Ellis's doctor. Everyone is pleased to see a conscious Gangadhar. Gangadhar tells the priests to chant the mantras for the crowning ceremony and places his crown on Anand Rao. Gangadhar breathes his last longing for Damodar. Jhansi is grief-stricken. Losing the desire to live, Laxmi Bai states the desire to give up everything. Vahini Saheb comforts her. Dalhousie rejoices and welcomes Ali Bahadur to be the King of Jhansi.

Laxmi Bai requests to be left alone with Gangadhar's body. She cleans his wound and readies him for his last journey. Remembering her special moments with Gangadhar, Laxmi Bai's sole thought is to join Gangadhar and Damodar. The people of Jhansi plead with Laxmi Bai not to abandon them. Ali Bahadur motivates his soldiers to capture Jhansi and, putting his flag in the British commissary, heads towards the fort. Gangadhar is laid on the pyre, and the widow's ritual begins for Laxmi Bai.

Raghunath and Tatya Tope urge a numb Laxmi Bai to defend Jhansi from Ali Bahadur. The people of Jhansi plead with her to save them. Laxmi Bai is woken from her stupor by Gangadhar's soul, who admonishes her for ignoring the pleas of the people and urges her to return to her identity of Kranti Guru. Rising like a phoenix, she orders Tatya Guru to combat Ali Bahadur while she pays her last respects to Gangadhar's lit pyre. Laxmi Bai threatens Ali Bahadur and forces him to run for his life.

Laxmi Bai cuts Ali Bahadur's arm with her sword. Dalhousie is angry at his plan being foiled again. Looking at her portrait sketched by Gangadhar, Laxmi Bai misses him and Damodar. Amongst Gangadhar's clothes, she finds his last letter written to her, and she breaks down. Laxmi Bai announces a warning to all the traitors, especially the merchants, that Gangadhar's ashes will not be immersed till the British are ousted from Jhansi. Hamilton, a cruel British officer, gets orders to go to Jhansi.

A furious Laxmibai asks Shyam Chaudhary and the other treacherous traders to leave Jhansi for supporting the British and not protecting their motherland. Shyam Chaudhary apologises to her and promises to lend her his support. Moropant tells Laxmibai that Anand needs to perform a ritual and be cleansed with Holy Water. When the ritual gets completed, Moropant and the others are shocked to see that Anand is missing. A worried Moropant informs Laxmibai that Anand is missing. Hamilton, who arrives in Jhansi, sees Anand alone and crying in the forest. He realises that Anand is the Prince of Jhansi. Later, the East India Company flag is hoisted at the Commissionerate by Hamilton. Just then, he sees Anand crying and his dogs barking at Anand. Meanwhile, Laxmibai pleads with her subjects to help her find Anand. Ellis too promises to trace Anand. The wicked Hamilton decides to set his dogs loose on Anand.

Ellis arrives at the nick of time and rescues Anand from Hamilton's dogs. Hamilton introduces himself as the Special Political Agent of Jhansi. Hamilton accuses Ellis of not annexing Jhansi and promises to set things right now. Meanwhile, Laxmibai is delighted to hear that Anand is safe. Ellis then informs Laxmibai about Hamilton and his motive to create problems because the throne of Jhansi was now empty. After hearing about Hamilton from Ellis, Laxmibai decides to hold a coronation ceremony for Anand. He is renamed Damodar Rao Nevalkar and crowned the king. Hamilton informs her that the East India Company has refused to accept the adoption as legal, and that's why as per the Doctrine of Lapse, Jhansi would be annexed. She vows not to ever give Jhansi away. Ellis then tells Hamilton that the Queen of England had the right to reject Lord Dalhousie's new order, and that Laxmibai could challenge it.

When Laxmibai talks about war, Hamilton mocks her about her inferior weapons compared with the might of East India Company, but she warns him that every child in Jhansi would fight the British and drive them out. Shyam Chaudhary arrives then and declares that the traders would sacrifice everything they have to protect their motherland. Keeping the impending implementation of the Charter Act in mind, Lord Dalhousie realises that he cannot afford to take a wrong step, so he decides to appeal against Laxmibai instead. Laxmibai hires her trusted lawyer and confidante, John Lang, to fight her case in England. Three years pass by, and there is still no verdict about the case. On the other hand, the East India Company continues to create havoc and annex Bundelkhand and other weaker states so that they are unable to help Jhansi.

Lord Dalhousie gets anxious hearing about the revolt arising in his army, so he decides to use the enmity between the neighbouring states of Orchha and Jhansi to his advantage. Hamilton asks him to fuel the bitterness between Ladai Sarkar, the Queen of Orchha and Laxmibai. Meanwhile, John Lang informs Laxmibai that the Queen of England has rejected her appeal, so Laxmibai willingly accepts the verdict and promises that a united India would create a revolt that would drive the British out of India. However, she is disheartened to see the malfunctioning ammunitions in Jhansi and is informed that Ghaus Khan makes the best cannonballs. On the other hand, while Ghaus Khan fires the cannon to test it, Hamilton watches him and quietly puts a part of the wreckage inside the Orchha border.

The King of Datia welcomes the royal members to the game and thanks Ladai Sarkar and Laxmibai for participating. Ladai Sarkar gets furious when the spectators assure Laxmibai that she will emerge victorious again. She vows to have the flag of Orchha fly high this time. The game begins and the two queens take a different route. During the course of the game, Laxmibai tries to broker peace but Ladai Sarkar vows not to befriend Laxmibai because the Nevalkar family had betrayed Orchha. Laxmibai tries to convince her to return Ghaus Khan but Ladai Sarkar asks her to return Jhansi to her! Laxmibai then tells her that it was a ploy by the British to annex not just Jhansi but Orchha as well.

The two queens prod away on separate ways, and a scream is then heard. Meanwhile, in Jhansi, Raghunath informs his army that Laxmibai has been held captive by Ladai Sarkar and readies them for a war against Orchha and its queen. The informant tells Nelson about the turn of events. Nelson is happy. When Hamilton informs Nathey Khan, who is like a brother to Ladai Sarkar as well as the commander of her army, about the unfolding events, he is surprised at the irresponsibility of his sister to take on the mighty Laxmibai. Just then, he is informed that Ladai Sarkar's life may be in danger and she may have been held captive by enemies. Hamilton instigates Nathey Khan against the King of Datia for joining hands with Laxmibai. Nathey Khan readies his army for a battle against the King of Datia. Hamilton is happy.

Raghunath and Tatya Tope release Ghaus Khan from prison. Back at the playground, the spectators laud Ladai Sarkar when they see her approaching the finishing line. However, her happiness is short-lived when she hears Laxmibai tell her that she was carrying the flag of Jhansi! Laxmibai emerges as the winner and she posts the flags of Jhansi and Orchha on the finishing line. She tells the King of Datia that her motive was to have a united India to drive the British away. Hamilton arrives then and informs Ladai Sarkar that Tatya Tope had entered the palace of Orchha with his battalion. Ladai Sarkar is enraged with Laxmibai for betraying Orchha once again and declares war. Laxmibai tries to explain to Hamilton that the British want to create internal enmity, and urges Ladai Sarkar to join forces against them.

Ladai Sarkar tells everyone that Jhansi and Orchha were united now. Hamilton asks Ladai Sarkar to check out the truth in Orchha, so she slaps him and has him arrested. Laxmibai promises him that there would soon be a day when all of India would unite and he'd have to run! Laxmibai prays that Raghunath and Tatya Tope are in Jhansi and not in Orchha. Ladai Sarkar takes Laxmibai to her ancestral temple and narrates tales about her lineage. Back in Jhansi, Moropant is shocked to learn that Laxmibai and Ladai Sarkar have become friends, so he senses a conspiracy. Meanwhile, Ladai Sarkar takes Laxmibai near her palace and orders that she be arrested! Ladai Sarkar warns her that Jhansi will once again belong to Orchha. Laxmibai is stunned at being betrayed.

Nelson sends Laxmibai to her cell. On the other hand, Hamilton vows to annex Orchha along with Jhansi to seek vengeance for getting slapped by Ladai Sarkar. Meanwhile, Ladai Sarkar calls for Laxmibai to be presented in court. She taunts Laxmibai that she could make the British as well as her dance to her tune, and that the British would give her their army if she needed. Ladai Sarkar then goes to burn the flag of Jhansi but Laxmibai retorts that the flag belonged not just to Jhansi but to entire India. Laxmibai then jumps on the burning flag and salvages it. She accuses Ladai Sarkar of becoming a queen only after being the lackey of the British. Laxmibai also accuses her of being a coward. Ladai Sarkar then accepts Laxmibai's challenge for a battle.
