Kaptenen på färjan, Sandberg, måste visa upp ett friskintyg för att få fortsätta köra den. Dr. Steen upptäcker dock att han har hjärtfel. Sandberg vägrar godta det och går till dr. Holt som raskt intyg att han är fullt frisk. Inte ens när färjan är nära en allvarlig olycka vill Sandberg erkänna att han är sjuk. I skolan har Wilma det svårt tills hon räddar färjans passagerare när hon hjälper sin pappa när Sandberg väl får hjärtinfarkt.

Det är midsommar och Saltö invaderas av människor som vill fira helgen där. En försupen direktör kommer dit med sin båt men blir desperat när alkoholen tar slut. Ett ungdomsgäng sprider oro omkring sig men visar sig vara änglar. Bruno Franzén har misshandlat sin fru i flera år och hans hustru och dotter har försökt gömma det för omgivningen. Wilma och hennes kompis Maddo lyckas få tag i starköl och dricker sig berusade.

Ett ungt par i segelbåt behöver läkarhjälp när kvinna skall föda barn i årets tjockaste dimma. I denna hamnar även Wilma när hon skall lära sig segla alldeles själv. Den dödssjuke Viktor Wendt visar sig vara betydligt friskare än vad han förespeglar dr. Steen.

Maddos mamma Lindelius äter alldeles för mycket lugnande medel. När doktor Steen föreslår något annat än piller får Wilma inte längre träffa Maddo. Gamla Oscar har hjärtfel men vägrar inse det.

Paret Willy och Helena skall snart iväg på långsegling men Willy verkar inte må så bra. Bra karl reder sig själv tänker han och säger inget till Helena. Men doktor Steen börjar misstänka malaria. I skolan har alla angripits av hårlöss. Och Eva skall komma tillbaka.

The series took place in the fictive middle class suburb Mälarviken, located in the vicinity of Stockholm. The exteriors were filmed in Sätra, a suburb of Stockholm, and the interiors were filmed in a studio in Kvarnholmen as well as in Kungens Kurva. Tre kronor aired at the same time period as Rederiet was on SVT and the shows where rivals of the viewers and they both had around 1-2 million viewers. TV4 started Tre kronor in 1994 to compete for the viewers of Rederiet. The signature tune was written by Lasse Holm. The spin-off movie Reine och Mimmi i fjällen! was based on two of the characters; Reine and Mimmi. The series had a dramatic ending where all the characters besides six were fatally wounded in a suicide bombing that took place at the local restaurant Tre Kronor. It was a priest himself who was the perpetrator. Two big cliffhangers in the series was when Hans Wästberg, played by Ulf Brunnberg, robbed the post office and shot his son Hans-Åke by mistake. Hans Wästberg was taken to prison and disappeared from the series after the second season. Season Three ended with Sirpa "Bimbo" Koskinen, the girlfriend of Hans-Åke Wästberg, died in a bus crash.
