1x1 - Episode 1

December 30, 2002

While FANG is tidying up the house, SHUI, the second wife, is helping her daughter, DIP, to dress up. She wishes her daughter would catch the eyes of CHUNG, the millionaire’s son. FANG has bought a goose for the welcome dinner of his father, CHONG. But the goose has been stolen while she is helping SHAUN, the mentally handicapped son of “Smiley Cake Shop”. FANG doesn’t want her father to hustle and bustle for making a living anymore, so she wants to restart “Fragrant Tea House”, her deceased mother’s shop. FANG has a quarrel with CHUNG’s cousin, FU, when she is buying the Smiley cakes. FANG goes to Hing Fung Company to discuss the rental details, but meet FU again. Meanwhile, someone has come to buy the first class tea, “Monkey Pick”. FANG points out the defects and makes CHUNG and FU change their perception on her. CHUNG even agrees to lease her the shop. DIP is delighted as she thinks CHUNG has crushed on her……

1x3 - Episode 3

January 1, 2003

When CHUNG wakes up and finds out he is sleeping with DIP. He thinks he has been cheated. He tells her the girl he loves is FANG. DIP is sad after hearing this. CHUNG’s father, FUNG doesn’t want to affect the reputation of the family and afraid that DIP will commit suicide, so he asks CHUNG to accept the fate. LIN complains to SHUI and says FANG doesn’t want to have sex with SHUAN. SHUI tells her the tactics. When CHONG comes back home, he’s shocked to know her two daughters have got married, so he goes to the DING’s family and grasps FANG away. On the way, they are nearly caught by the police. To save her father from swallowing the bitter in the jail, FANG agrees marrying SHAUN. CHONG is very angry and comes back home for blaming SHUI, but surprisingly to have seen SHUI hung herself. SHAUN’s father, LIK, teaches SHAUN how to have sex with his wife, but he seems doesn’t understand……

1x4 - Episode 4

January 2, 2003

FANG comforts CHONG that she will make the DING family breaking off the marriage for her. FANG makes use of DIP’s note and threats SHUI to support her for reopening “Fragrant Tea House”. SHUI invites FUNG to go to the opening ceremony of the tea house, but he shows his disdain. CHI even says something discouraging. So DIP could only use her own money to buy a golden tea pot as the gift. At this moment, CHUNG suddenly comes and pays for her, she feels sweet. On the opening day of the tea house, LIN and LIK come without invitation card, and they have made FANG greeting them in front of others. After that, FANG takes SHAUN to buy accessories. But they have bought nothing and have no dinner to eat when they come back home. That night, FANG wants to find something to eat in the kitchen, but she fails and is locked up in the kitchen by LIN. Even SHAUN doesn’t help her. Two days later, FANG becomes very humble and does the housework……

FANG wants to help in the tea house, but is bothered by SHAUN. So she scolds him for his laziness. KWUN has come from the city to find her missing fiance, CHUNG. However, she has lost her wallet on the way, so FANG lets her stay at the tea house to work. KWUN thanks her very much. SHAUN wants to go to the school. MR LU, the teacher, asks him what will he do in his spare time. But his answer makes FUNG embarrassed. SHAUN and KWUN meet by chance, when KWUN sees him, she calls him “CHUNG” loudly. SHAUN is scared and runs away. KWUN is astonished to find that SHAUN is FANG’s husband. FANG wants to ask KWUN to be SHAUN’s teacher. During the lesson, KWUN continuously asks him whether he can remember her or not. SHAUN is very scared at her. When FUNG knows his staff, TIGER, has a new baby again, he asks CHUNG and DIP to be hurry. KWUN prepares snacks and sings to SHAUN, so as to provoke his memory……

KWUN explains to her the reason for the acupuncture. FANG regrets to have blamed her. SHUI asks DIP should give birth hurriedly, but DIP comments that giving birth is a job of both husband and wife. So, SHUI makes her the tonic tablets. DIP wants CHUNG to drink up the medicine, but by mistake, she has taken the medicine instead and nearly makes up a big trouble. FANG doesn’t want to go home. She meets CHUNG on the way and advises him to devote his heart to DIP. CHUNG is disappointed after hearing this. KWUN takes SHAUN to the riverside and tells him the story of the mountain thief. SHAUN suddenly becomes very frightened and has nightmares at night. SHAUN draws the profile of the masked man in his dream. KWUN is sure that there is an inside story about his identity. KWUN sees LIK leaving home secretly, she follows him and overhears he is talking with a woman called MONG. Their conversation is something about SHAUN’s identity……

1x7 - Episode 7

January 7, 2003

LIK knows FANG has worked in the tea house and wants to tell LIN about that. So FANG says she will also disclose to LIN about his affair if he has done so. The tenants want to reduce the rent, but FUNG rejects. FU even punishes one of the tenants in order to give others a warning. CHUNG is worried but CHI says FUNG’s enemy, “the Steamed Pork Bun Hero” will rescue that tenant. At night, “the Hero” really comes and gives that tenant rice and money. FUNG wants DIP to be the supervisor, but CHI deliberately creates troubles. LIK discovers MONG’s son is actually not his son. MONG loses her temper and threats him to give money for keeping their affair in secret. SHAUN wants to study in the school, MR LU’s son takes this opportunity to make fun of him. He asks SHAUN to go to the mountain to find “the king of the apples” as the gift for the teacher……

1x8 - Episode 8

January 8, 2003

SHAUN has knitted a grasshopper as a gift of apology for FANG. FANG says causally that she will only forgive him if he writes, “I’m sorry” for hundred times and knits a hundred grasshoppers for her. Next morning, SHAUN takes FANG to the pavilion. She is touched when she sees all the notes and grasshoppers are around the pavilion. FANG is surprised to see that KWUN is eating a lot of snacks in the kitchen. KWUN lies to her that this is because her fiance has gone back to the village home to get married. FANG is shocked to see SHAUN’s appearance is exactly the same as KWUN’s fiance after he has worn the uniform. She also sees KWUN has secretly kissed SHAUN, so she decides to be their matchmaker and thus she can leave SHAUN. SHAUN wants FANG to give him massage, FANG asks him to wash his legs first. But FANG is too tired and falls asleep while waiting for him……

FANG is very scared to see KWUN is quietly having a lot of hot pots again and speaking to herself. FANG asks the physician on how to cure her nervosity. Meanwhile, CHUNG meets her and believes she is in love with him. FANG decides to take SHAUN to KWUN’s village in order to check out his identity. When they have arrived the Stone Village, the villagers call SHAUN as LEE. FANG realizes the story when she sees the photo of KWUN and LEE. SHAUN goes to the farm of KUEN, LEE’s mother, and takes away some basil. CHUNG discovers FUNG is the “Steamed Pork Bun Hero”. FUNG tells him the story and handovers Hing Fung Company to him. CHUNG gets drunk when he knows FANG and SHAUN have gone for vacation. When he comes back home, he takes DIP as FANG and they end up having sex. When FANG comes back, she tells KWUN that she knows the reason of her concern. In return, KWUN tells her the doubt……

FANG is shocked to know CHUNG’s birthday is the same as SHAUN. CHUNG secretly makes a gravestone for her deceased mother. When DIP is ordering the stone, she meets FANG and KWUN, and they are shocked to see MRS PAO’s is also called KUEN. KWUN reckons somebody has stolen SHAUN’s identity. She decides to find MRS PAO’s maid, AUNTIE LAN, to answer her queries. SHAUN is learning how to make a cake. But the others didn’t show their support. SHAUN feels hurt. At that night, he creeps into the kitchen secretly to learn how to roll the flour. He later makes chess cakes and basil cakes, everyone says it’s delicious. SHAUN makes FUNG losing his coins, so FUNG asks him to use the chess cakes as compensation. FUNG is excited when he smells the taste of basil cakes. “Hero” steals the basil from the DING family, and breaks the whole plate of basil. SHUAN brings the destroyed herbs to seek FUNG’s help……

CHUNG supports FU to buy large portion of Ceylon tea. CHUNG’s cousin, YING, meets WING one day. WING has torn off her clothes by accident. FANG dates CHUNG at “Nepenthe”, for discussing buying the shop. She also asks him about his past, but he suddenly leaves. FANG thinks he has something that unspeakable. SHUAN shows KWUN his paper-cut, and says she is in his family. KWUN is very impressed. WING meets YING again. YING asks him for compensation and deliberately cheats him. CHUNG goes to the tea house. One of the diners calls him SHENG, so FANG and KWUN chases after that diner to ask about. KWUN later goes to Sanshui for investigation. WING pretends to get sick in order to escape from YING. However, YING goes to his home to find him. She suddenly has a heart attack, but WING thinks she is acting. DIP is worried when she knows CHUNG has dated with FANG. FANG and CHUNG meet at “Nepenthe” again. She wants to know about his childhood……

1x12 - Episode 12

January 14, 2003

FANG slaps at CHUNG when he says he loves her. DIP says she doesn’t want to be the substitute of FANG, she begs CHUNG to divorce. DIP cannot accept CHUNG loving FANG, so SHUI comforts her. FANG tells DIP that she has no feeling towards CHUNG, but DIP blames her that she has been giving chances to him. This makes FANG speechless. SHUAN has handmade the cakes and sent to the LING family. He also shows DIP the shadow puppets in order to make DIP and FANG reconcile again. CHUNG goes to the LING family to find DIP, he wants to have a new start with her, but CHONG declines him. DIP is moved when she knows CHUNG has been waiting for her outside the house in the rain. YING goes to Smiley Cake shop to date WING, but WING rejects her. So YING asks him to deliver the cakes to her house. WING has made a swing for YING. They have crushed on each other. To show his sincerity, CHUNG does whatever DIP wants……

January 15, 2003

Although SHAUN has carelessly overcooked the basil, FUNG can cook his basil soup with green peas again because of the overcooked basil. When KWUN knows it is FUNG’s wife who teaches him how to cook the soup, so she is certain that FUNG is SHAUN’s real father. It is the first time that CHUNG takes DIP with him for meeting the clients, DIP feels so sweet. LU sends the landscape painting to the PAO family. CHI pulls him into her room and gives him a cardigan. Meanwhile, FUNG comes in, fortunately DIP helps them to explain the situation. CHI tells DIP about her love story with LU. She is afraid that others will laugh at them, so they keep it in secret. FANG has heard from YING that FUNG will prove his relationship with CHUNG by using blood test. However, KWUN still believes someone has stolen SHAUN’s identity. SHAUN overhears that CHONG will give FANG the sweetened winter melon, which is her favorite, as the birthday present……

1x14 - Episode 14

January 16, 2003

SHUAN uses smiley cakes to extinguish diners’ rage, and CHONG suddenly thinks of using “One cup with two cakes” as the selling point. KWUN says she has checked out the Encyclopaedia Britannica that the blood test is not reliable. But FANG doesn’t understand. FUNG knows that CHUNG has set the tombstone for KUEN, and he secretly goes there to show his respect. KWUN is certain that KUEN and FUNG are husband and wife. FANG suggests they can find someone to disguise as the ghost of KUEN in order to test him. But their plan has been failed. When FUNG wakes up, he thinks that he has met the ghost. When CHUNG sees that DIP has been searching the umbrella for him in the rain, he is very touched and holding her tight. KWUN says that she will go to the south to find LAN. FANG is so grateful at her concern for SHAUN. LIN has carelessly made LIK’s cricket died. SHAUN volunteers to accompany LIK for finding the cricket again in the graveyard……

1x15 - Episode 15

January 17, 2003

When FANG wakes up, she is shocked that SHAUN has slept by her side. So she warns herself that she shouldn’t have drunk anymore. FUNG has just casually made a statement, but this inspires SHAUN to make “sweetheart cakes” as FANG’s birthday present. CHUNG has discovered FU has been using Hing Fung Company’s cargo fleets for transporting the opium. FU says that CHUNG is not FUNG’s real son, if he discloses the secret, he will lose his identity. CHUNG is shocked to hear this. FU forces CHUNG to sign the agreement which has stated that when CHUNG has succeed the family asset, he has to give him half. SHAUN gives FUNG to taste his handmade “sweetheart cakes”, FUNG says it’s excellent. Suddenly, two men come and grasp them away. Everybody is worried that SHAUN has been late for FANG’s birthday dinner. Meanwhile, CHUNG receives the blackmail letter, which has stated the ransom is ten thousand dollars. FU disagrees to pay the ransom……

1x16 - Episode 16

January 20, 2003

FUNG says he will designate CHUNG to handle his assets, FU is delighted to hear this. SHAUN hasn’t recovered his injury yet, but he still insist to make “sweetheart cakes”, everyone says it is delicious, and launches it with the name “sweetheart cakes”. FUNG is going to sign the authorization, but CHUNG rejects him by saying he doesn’t have enough experience to handle the assets. SHAUN celebrates FANG’s belated birthday. When she sees the lanterns are all hung on the trees, the extra large sweetheart cake and “stars” all over the sky, she is so affected and gives him a kiss. LIN notices that the customers only want sweetheart cakes, but not smiley cakes. She is unhappy about that, but LIK says she is just jealous. Therefore, SHAUN and FANG buy a jade bangle to comfort her. DIP thinks that FANG begins to love SHAUN very much, FANG is scared in her heart. WING wants to marry YING, but worried that FUNG will reject their marriage……

1x17 - Episode 17

January 21, 2003

On the way, YING is sick again. WING promptly carries her back home. YING declares that WING and she both love each other. FUNG finally recognizes their relationship. LU is afraid of the rumors, so he escapes from CHI, but CHI shows her love in front of everyone, hence LU also gives up his slot to love her. When SHAUN is taking photo, the flashlight makes him recalling images. KWUN and LAN come back from the south. LAN says the real CHUNG should have a scar at his back. KWUN is very excited that SHAUN’s back also has a scar, but FANG is puzzled. When LAN sees FU and CHUNG, she suddenly hides up herself. She is so scared and says this is because FU will kill her if she discloses the secret. FUNG is glad that DIP is pregnant, but CHUNG is crestfallen. KWUN is giving SHAUN hypnosis, but FUNG comes in at the moment and wakens SHAUN. KWUN scolds him for that and reveals to him that SHAUN is his real son. FUNG thinks that’s ridiculous……

CHONG and SHUI are delighted to know DIP is pregnant, but FANG is worried. FANG and SHAUN go to watch the stars. FANG tells him sadly that borrowed happiness will be ended one day. KWUN questions FANG whether she is in love with SHAUN or not. FANG admits that but she will keep their promise. FANG deliberately blames SHAUN for making her handmade string torn off. She packs up the things and goes back to her parent’s home. SHAUN blames himself for that and everyone feels pity for him. DIP asks FANG why she has to leave SHAUN if she loves him, FANG only answers she doesn’t want the love grows. SHAUN can’t make the sweetheart cakes anymore. He is depressed and KWUN encourages him by telling him that how she has waited for her fiance. SHAUN has made a special sweetheart cake for FANG, but she refuses to see him. SHAUN wants KWUN to send the cake for him, but FANG blames KWUN that she is giving false hopes to SHAUN……

1x19 - Episode 19

January 23, 2003

FU realizes SHAUN is the real CHUNG, so he forces CHUNG to kill SHAUN. SHAUN remembers he has to date with FANG on the 15th of every month. He wants to sleep earlier for the date. KWUN is sad to hear that. CHONG and SHUI use every method to make FANG going to the date, but FANG doesn’t go. Even though she knows SHAUN has injured his hand when making the cakes. DIP walks with CHUNG as he has been drunk, but she suddenly slips on the ground, CHUNG is terribly worried. SHAUN lights up the lanterns on the trees to wait for FANG, but suddenly comes a rainstorm, so he wants light up again the candles, but he fails to do so and instead, he falls down and breaks the extra large sweetheart cake. SHAUN is very sad and at this moment, two men suddenly come and catch him. DIP’s baby is unhurt, CHUNG is relieved and tells her about his real identity, the wicked plan of FU and they have already asked somebody to sell SHAUN to the south……

When SHAUN sees KWUN, he tells her that he has recovered his past memory and promises that he will marry her after graduation. KWUN is delighted. FU says that CHUNG and DIP have gone to Lin Yin Temple for relaxation. FUNG still hasn’t alerted the danger. Therefore, FANG tells him about how SHAUN has been robbed and advises him to take care of himself. CHI says she will protect FUNG but FU is doubtful. FANG is sad to see SHAUNG and KWUN are hugging together. She tells them that she thinks CHUNG and DIP have been robbed by FU. SHAUN determines to pretend as the foolish SHAUN again in order to make FU falls into their trap. SHAUN forces FUNG to go to the orchard with him. He tells him that he has remembered KUEN’s story and the other name of basil is Chui Law Huang. Until then, FUNG realizes SHAUN is his real son. At this moment, FU, with a gun, comes and says he has been planned for twenty years for the assets of PAO’s family……
