1x1 - Episode 1

August 7, 2000

DIK is a young inspector. His superior has arranged for him a casting for the host of a programme called “Police Report”. He, however, prefers to join the frontier team. With his mother’s help, he succeeds in changing his post. Unfortunately, DIK cannot get on with his fellow officers KEI, CHEUNG, TAK and LOK. DIK has had some misunderstandings with PO, who is quite renowned in Temple Street, over which he still feels angry. DIK’s girlfriend, GRACE, finds it boring being with DIK anymore and splits up with him in front of everybody. YING has a long-lost son, ON, who DIK has no memory of at all. DIK leads his team for the first time on a mission, but is somehow carsick and throws up on the way. All his men laugh. PO, HEI, CHUN, FAI, LILY, WAI and NAM grew up in Temple Street together and are very good friends. They all treat PO as their leader. YING meets PO and thinks he is ON……

1x2 - Episode 2

August 8, 2000

DIK handcuffs PO immediately. YING dose not want to make any troubles so PO leaves arrogantly. KEI and the others have some after work activities with DIK. Yet DIK feels that he is excluded and that nobody obeys him. YING meets PO again at her restaurant and cannot help following him. PO falls over and without delay, YING runs up to help him. YING feels especially closed to PO when she smells his body scent. PO does not know how to react and rushes off. CHUN owes money to some loan sharks. PO and the others try hard to gather money for CHUN. HEI’s grandmother, BAAT, however, uses the money in buying HEI a very expensive watch. So PO turns to YIK, his adopted father, for help. DIK collides with PO while chasing after a thief. KEI suspects PO and insists on handcuffing him. They verify later that PO is innocent. DIK admits this as his own fault and reports to his boss. His act impresses his team members……

1x3 - Episode 3

August 9, 2000

As YING insists that PO is ON, DIK takes her to clarify things with PO. YING is afraid that this is too sudden an act and asks PO whether he is DIK’s cousin instead. DIK is confused. Shocked, PO denies it and leaves quickly. HEI is unemployed and thinking of running a stall with BO and the others. Later HEI’s friend, CHEN, reminds her to be realistic so she starts looking for a job. However, PO supports her business plan. He takes care of her stall when it is raining hard one day. It makes YING’s heart ache seeing this. YING wants to move into Temple Street and get closer to PO. DIK disagrees but eventually softens his stand. YING is happy living close to PO and introduces herself to him. But PO does not take much interest. She makes some sesame sweet-soup as night snacks for PO. CHUN takes a taste quickly before anyone else. PO enjoys the soup very much and finds the taste of the soup familiar……

August 10, 2000

PO is very upset to know that his mother abandoned him for money years back. HEI has not settled with her new job. Luckily she has PO to talk to. YING makes fresh sesame sweet-soup for PO regularly now. PO in return takes the initiative to start a conversation with her. YING knows that PO is very fond of Chinese barbecued pork, so she starts to grill some in her own kitchen. DIK is jealous when he sees this. HEI’s boss, LEUNG, admires her a lot. HEI, her colleagues and PO’s gang go to Karaoke after work. LEUNG appreciates HEI even more seeing her stirring up the atmosphere. PO learns computer skills from HEI and finds that HEI is much more mature than before. HEI’s home is flooded. Her grandmother insists on taking PO’s bed, so PO and HEI have to share one bed. PO has some strange feelings watching HEI sleep. DIK’s ex-girlfriend, KI, joins his team……

1x5 - Episode 5

August 11, 2000

CHUN, WAI and the others are discussing about how PO is fond of HEI; they dismiss when PO shows up and tries to join in. PO wakes up in the middle of a dream and rushes to walk HEI to work. HEI takes PO’s arm as usual, but PO’s heart beats rapidly this time and he excuses himself. KEI fights for a chance to patrol with KI. However, he ends up getting warned by KI for his flirtatious behaviour. PO goes to ask HEI out for lunch but sees her going to a high-class club with LEUNG. So PO follows them but is not welcomed. PO tries to start a wholesale business on the Internet but is cheated with some fake goods. KI reports him without consulting DIK. PO assumes DIK victimising him again. YING has the idea to start a sweet-soup business in Temple Street. This irritates DIK as he knows she is doing this for PO. CHUN and the others read PO’s thoughts and encourage him to give up the brother and sister relationship with HEI and date her.

1x6 - Episode 6

August 14, 2000

PO denies his special feelings about HEI even under CHUN and the others’ questioning. YING teaches PO her sesame sweet-soup recipe and offers to give him money to open a shop. PO declines her kind offer. YING hopes to re-awake PO’s childhood memories when she teaches him how to make sesame sweet-soup but fails. DIK teaches HEI a lot about computers and she starts to like him. YING manages cunningly to open a sweet-soup shop with PO. DIK does not feel right about this and asks KEI and the others to join the business. PO and DIK argue about how the shop should be renovated and fight for the control right in a ball game. PO is distracted seeing HEI there and DIK wins the game. HEI is thrilled to receive a love email message, thinking that it is from DIK. Yet the fact is CHUN and the others have written the message for PO’s sake. The sweet-soup shop, named Miu Do, opens……

1x7 - Episode 7

August 15, 2000

HEI happily tells PO about the email from DIK. PO is relieved but dares not tell her the truth. PO and the others are at work punctually and this surprises DIK. PO cannot bear seeing HEI loving DIK and lies to her that the email was his practical joke. HEI is outraged and disappointed. Everyone is having a meeting at Miu Do when they hear a robbery going on outside. DIK orders KI to stay and call for backup, but KI does not follow his instruction and takes action without permission. During the chaos, KI knocks BAAT down with her car. BAAT thinks she can get a lot of compensation and pretends she is seriously hurt. KI apologies to DIK and HEI overhears their past relationship and feels sour. PO, CHUN and the others are absent from work. Angry, YING goes to PO’s place to wake him up. PO accidentally pushes YING when he is half-asleep and wakes up immediately. He then carries her home on his back……

1x8 - Episode 8

August 16, 2000

YING tries to stop PO and DIK from fighting each other. The relationship between PO and DIK is deteriorating. PO develops a high fever and feels very grateful for YING’s intensive care. HEI asks DIK to teach her computer skills again. DIK brings KI along and she laughs at HEI’s education level. DIK finds KI’s behaviour unkind and invites HEI to his place to teach her. CHEN arranges a quiet day for just HEI and DIK on HEI’s birthday. DIK then realizes HEI loves him and starts to worry. PO is deeply disappointed when he finds out HEI and DIK celebrated HEI’s birthday together. YING realizes that PO loves HEI. KI uses KEI to irritate DIK and KEI takes the chance to get close to KI. BAAT steals money from Miu Do. PO defends BAAT and lies that he has stolen the money. YING slaps him on the face for his bad nature. PO, CHUN and the others mess things up after getting drunk. In the chaos, DIK grabs HEI’s hand and leads her outside……

1x9 - Episode 9

August 17, 2000

YING cannot wait to ask YIK about PO’s identity. YIK sees her crying in desperation, so he promises to find out the truth for her. YIK finds the drug addict who sold him PO years ago. She tells him she kidnapped PO in Temple Street and she is not his biological mother. YIK suggests YING take a DNA test to prove she is PO’s mother. KI is jealous when HEI comes to pick up DIK after work. KEI tries to have sex with KI when she is unaware. Fortunately KI realizes his intention early enough and leaves in time. DIK tells HEI that he has no feeling for her at all and breaks HEI’s heart. PO learns about this and goes to takes revenge on DIK. YING finally tells PO and DIK that they are brothers. PO cannot accept the news. YING is shocked to find out through her DNA test that she has blood cancer. DIK starts to like HEI for she comforts him all the time. He dates her and HEI’s dream is finally fulfilled.

1x10 - Episode 10

August 18, 2000

PO cannot believe his own identity. Neither does he believe YING has terminal cancer. So he asks YIK for proof. YING and PO avoid each other at Miu Do. YIK cannot bear seeing this so asks them to face the reality. HEI tries to comfort PO but PO pretends it is nothing, although deep inside he is very upset. YING wants to move back to her old house, so she hands Miu Do over to PO. PO is very touched. PO and the others help YING moving home and PO sighs wistfully when he sees his old toys and family pictures. YING suddenly faints. DIK sends YING to the hospital and is late to meet his team. DIK proposes his resignation when KWONG blames him for being late. Luckily KI stops him in time. PO makes some Chinese tea for YING and she is cheered up. PO decides to live with YING. Find it difficult to part, CHUN and the others cry when sending PO off.

1x11 - Episode 11

August 21, 2000

PO feels uncomfortable living with YING and DIK. DIK always picks on PO’s bad habits. They put YING into a very difficult position every time they argue. YONG is another leading old gang member in Temple Street. His son, KIT, grows in ambition knowing PO is not around Temple Street anymore. He tries to please CHUN, WAI and the others. KI is invited to have dinner at YING’s place and starts to talk about happy past memories with DIK in his room. HEI finds it embarrassing and luckily PO takes her out straight away. PO misses Temple Street and often finds an excuse to go back there, but HEI persuades him to adapt himself to his new life. PO is accused of shoplifting at a supermarket. Fortunately, YING passes by and helps him out. YING introduces PO to her neighbours. PO is deeply touched. KIT tries to expand his control over Temple Street by framing up YONG’s man, KEUNG. LILY is molested by CHEUNG. She tells CHUN and the others about this……

1x12 - Episode 12

August 22, 2000

PO gathers CHUN, NAM and the others to understand the whole thing but the meeting ends unhappily. KIT is hypocritical and stirs up more misunderstandings between PO and his friends. KWONG orders DIK to stop going to both Miu Do and Temple Street. PO wants to buy DIK, KEI and the others’ share for CHUN and his friends. KIT somehow does this before PO to buy the others’ supports. YING is taken to the police station for not carrying her ID card with her. She calls PO for help. When the police ask about their relationship, PO pauses and eventually tells them that YING is his mother. YING is overjoyed hearing that PO recognized her as his mother.

1x13 - Episode 13

August 23, 2000

Having been turned down by KI for so many times, KEI is disappointed and wants to go back to his former girlfriend, YEE. Both YING and PO think that DIK is being too passive with HEI. KI forces DIK to admit his feelings for her out of desperation and kisses him. HEI sees everything as she is driving by. DIK pushes KI off and chases after HEI. DIK spends a huge effort to calm HEI down. He even takes HEI to see KI to clarify the misunderstanding. KI feels humiliated and slaps DIK. Learning that YEE is pregnant, KEI withdraws the idea of going back to her, fearing she will force him to marry her. CHEN is a materialistic girl and spends crazily with CHUN’s money. CHUN asks KIT to buy some shares for him, hoping to earn more. KIT cheats him and forces CHUN to work for him to pay off his debt.

1x14 - Episode 14

August 24, 2000

A wall has been built up between HEI and DIK over KI’s existence. PO and YING make up a plan to pull them back together. DIK kindly advises PO to keep his distance from HEI. PO understands his good intention and becomes closer to DIK. CHUN discovers that KIT is using him to smuggle untaxed cigarettes, yet he has no choice but to carry on. KIT is after CHEN, and strikes CHUN when he tries to argue with him. CHUN is threatened by KIT but he has no one to tell. PO suggests opening a second shop for ‘Seven Sisters’. The idea wins everyone’s support. HEI drags PO to a community centre to make friends with girls. PO finds this uninteresting and leaves. TAK and CHEUNG laugh at KEI because he is suffering from ‘Fake pregnancy’ which makes him nauseous and dizzy all the time. KEI goes to the Family Planning Association to seek help and unexpectedly meets YEE there……

1x15 - Episode 15

August 25, 2000

KIT cheats his neighbours of money using the name of NAM’s community centre. CHUN knows that NAM is being used but he dare not tell him. LILY senses something wrong with CHUN and finds out about the smuggling deal. CHUN does not want to get her involved so he does not let LILY know that KIT is the man behind the curtain. LILY hangs around CHUN and even helps him to smuggle. CHUN is deeply touched. PO catalyses the business of ‘Seven Sisters’, so everyone relies on him a lot. YING is relieved to see this. KIT uses NAM, WAI and FAI to fight for more control over Temple Street. YIK senses something wrong and tells YONG. KIT overhears this and starts to on his guard against YONG. KI is injured during work. She pretends that she has a broken leg to get DIK to stay with her. PO sees through KI’s trick and takes care of her for DIK……

1x16 - Episode 16

August 28, 2000

KIT forces CHUN to lie that PANG is the smuggler. YONG believes his words and sees PANG as his enemy from then on. KIT asks WAI to recruit teenage girls for his new movie. But in fact KIT is starting up a prostitution racket. FAI accidentally discovers KIT’s dirty trick and is planning to tell everyone. Nonetheless WAI and NAM do not believe him. FAI wants to uncover KIT’s crime with PO in front of all their friends, but PO stands them up to stay with YING. KI thinks of PO when she is bored. She realizes now she has already been in love with him. YING’s condition is deteriorating. PO and DIK support each other and become closer to each other.

1x17 - Episode 17

August 29, 2000

DIK asks HEI to marry him in order to fulfill YING’s wish. HEI accepts happily. YIK realizes that KIT is using CHUN, NAM and WAI and orders them to leave KIT. YIK is upset that NAM and WAI do not listen to him. YONG knows that KIT is avoiding him, so he pretends that he has twisted his foot and forces KIT to show up. KI tries every way to please YING and PO. She ends up getting scolded by PO. KI thinks and thinks again about the whole thing. YIK discovers that KIT is forcing girls into prostitution under the cover of signing them as actresses. This wakes NAM and the others up. YONG keeps KIT in Mainland China but end up being locked up by KIT. Soon after, KIT kidnaps YIK and as well, unifying his control over Temple Street.

1x18 - Episode 18

August 30, 2000

YIK stands YING up for a meeting. YING looks for YIK at his place. KIT lies to YING and convinces her that YIK and YONG have gone away for travelling. KI cannot win PO’s love even though she has discarded her wild characters for him. Although KIT gets control over Temple Street, he still feels empty inside. CHEN feels sorry for him and decides to go out with him. PO scolds KI for taking YING away without telling anyone. YING explains to PO and he apologizes to KI. KI takes the chance to ask him for a date. DIK and HEI are very busy preparing for their wedding. Unfortunately they are wondering too much about arrangements and have to ask YING all the time. This makes it too obvious that they are getting married just for YING. BAAT exposes the dirty trick that KI has with the community centre. She hopes to stop him by group pressure. KIT calls the police and exposes NAM, WAI and FAI for smuggling……

1x19 - Episode 19

August 31, 2000

KWONG scolds DIK for not being able to solve the case. DIK does not want to reveal PO, thus his whole team is suspended from duty. KEI and the others find this unfair and fall out with DIK. Without letting DIK know, PO and HEI are looking for CHUN and the others. DIK assumes PO and HEI have an affair and gets mad. DIK even says that PO still loves HEI. HEI walks away angrily. PO moves back to his old house and is planning to tackle KIT. He asks CHUN to be KIT’s man again to gather evidence of his crimes but CHUN refuses to do so. PO meets KIT in Temple Street. He cannot hold his temper and beats KIT up. CHUN somehow helps KIT to fight PO back and makes himself PO’s enemy. HEI is bothered about what DIK said and hides away from PO. This makes the situation even more embarrassing. HEI wants to split up with DIK as she wrongly assumes that DIK has sent KEI to ask her about where WAI and the others are……

1x20 - Episode 20

September 1, 2000

CHUN flees to PO’s home and PO rushes out to save him. KIT takes KWONG up to PO’s home hoping to catch CHUN but cannot find them there. KIT accuses KWONG of being useless and infuriates him. PO leads CHUN and the others to YING’s home. YING persuades them to trust the police. In the meantime DIK walks in and PO lets him take his friends to the police station and bails them out later. YONG and YIK suddenly come back to Hong Kong and co-operate with the others to fight KIT. DIK and KEI also work hard to deal KIT’s illegal business a blow. Cannot bear seeing KIT keep on doing wrong, CHEN records the process of KIT committing crime and hands the cassette tape to PO. Unfortunately, cassette tapes cannot be used as valid court evidence. HEI is confused about her feelings about PO. PO uses KI to clarify HEI’s confusion. DIK understands how hard it is for KI. YONG has no mercy over KIT anymore and this forces KIT to hide himself……

1x21 - Episode 21

September 4, 2000

Everyone knows that YING is dying but dares not tell her. KIT fails to get money out of YONG. To threaten YONG, KIT decides to put a bomb in Temple Street. KIT takes HEI and BAAT as hostages. DIK goes up to HEI’s place and ends up taken as hostage as well. CHEN reaches HEI’s home hoping that she can convince KIT to drop out. KIT does not see YONG bringing him any money after a long wait, so he intends to kill himself and everyone. Thinking that he is dying, DIK tells HEI about his love for her. The two of them reconcile.

1x22 - Episode 22

September 5, 2000

YONG convinces KIT to give himself up to the police. YING is seized with a sudden impulse and goes to see PO. PO finds the car in where the bomb is wired and tries to deactivate it. Unfortunately, he is trapped under the car. YING somehow manages to lift up the car with all her effort and saves PO. While PO is driving the car away, the bomb goes off and injures him. DIK feels very sour seeing how worried HEI is about PO’s injuries. KI decides to study in the States and writes a letter to PO before she leaves. Although it is almost time for DIK and HEI’s wedding day, DIK is worried that HEI is not going to show up…
