As the relationship between BILL and KAR turns sour, KAR tries to avoid d him and go out very often. She finds SHAN a good listener to her. TIN is not too happy about the final outcome of SHAN's production. His impression of her turns bad. Besides, CHUEN falls out with TIN saying that he is prejudiced against SHAN. LEUNG again quarrels with his wife and is driven out of the house. CHOI pities him and. allows him to take refuge in his house. After much effort, BILL proves MING's innocence.

KO MAN BILL and YU HON CHUEN are classmates in the police training academy. Their results are comparable. CHU1!:N breeds enmity against BILL and is eager to beat him. Five years later, both CHUEN and BILL become senior inspectors in the same region. Their work often overlaps and conflicts arise between their respective teams. BILL being an upright and. responsible person, works harmoniously with his team while CHUEN, being proud and. arrogant, is not on friendly terms with his team, as he does not respect his subordinates and is often too domineering. Both BILL and CHU8N are recommended to take the assessment examination for the post of Inspector General. CHUEN tries to get himself best prepared arid urges his t earn members to crack more cases in order to increase his possibility of being promoted. However, BILL is newly?wed and. still enjoying his married life. He does not take the examination too serious……

CHUEN's father is a retired Inspector General. He has high expectations of his son and often uses his influence on his former colleagues to help CHUEN in his career. LAM SIU CHEUNG is working under CHUEN. Being efficient and capable, CHEUNG is soon promoted to be a sergeant. However, his relationship with the other team-mates is not that well and it is a great blow to his confidence. One day, he goes to enjoy himself and runs into TSANG YUEN SHAN. SHAH, being lovely and energetic, deeply attracts CHEUNG. A junior police officer CHI CHUI is greatly disturbed emotionally. He goes to seek help from BILL's wife CHING HOI KAR and right away falls in love for her. Later, CHUI discovers her relationship with BILL and stops courting her.

In fact, SRAN is doing her undergraduate studies overseas. She hurries back to Hong Kong on hearing that her father is seriously taken ill. SHAN's father soon recovers but SHAN decides to stay behind in Hong Kong. CHUEN's father TIN has once helped SHAN's family greatly. Feeling deeply indebted to TIN, SHAN's father brings her to visit TIN who praises her highly of her airs and. potential. By chance, CHEUNG and SHAN enter the same competition and bath of them get good results. Meanwhile, their friendship also begins to grow. KWOK YAN MING is the only child in the family brought up by his widowed mother. He is reserved and seld.om mixes with the others. His neighbour and colleagues LAU MAN YIN is his best friend. MING's mother is working in the LO's family. The young mistress there WAI YEE finds MING a curious young man being so shy and reserved while MING is attracted by her open and carefree character.

KAR feels delighted on hearing that her husband is recommended to be promoted. She urges BILL to prepare well for the assessment and this exerts great pressure on BILL. The gap between them gradually widens. YIN also gets psychologically disturbed and seeks help from KAR. Again YIN is attracted by KAR's beauty and airs. However, he keeps secret his affection for KAR. Only to his best friend MING does he reveal his inner feelings. LEUNG CHOI and SHIU LEUNG are working in the same team. Yet their wives often fallout with one another. Hence, while working, they too often tease each other. CHEUNG and SHAN grows deeper in love but SHAN's father is again taken ill seriously. SHAN feels much worried and disturbed.

In the hospital SHAH is walking up and down feeling very worried. TIN and CHUEN comes to see her. It is the first time CHUEN meets SHAN but 'he is attracted to her and starts finding chances to get close to her. BILL is now following a difficult case. Feeling exhausted, he again has to face up to KAR's pressure on him urging to study hard for the promotion assessment. BILL cannot control his temper and the two has a fierce quarre1. YIN starts sending flowers to KAR to show his love for her. However , KM does not realize that YIN is attracted to her. YEE runs into trouble and seeks MING's help. MING feels elated thinking that YEE has some affections for him.

CHEUNG's performance is not that satisfactory since he cannot work harmoniously with his team-mates. CHUEN blames him for not doing well and CHEUNG then decides to devote much effort to cracking down cases in order to prove his efficiency. CHUEN often visits SHAN's father so as to get close to SHAN. TIN notices that and urges CHUEN to devote more time to his career Rather than wasting time on love affair, CHUEN does not take his words and the two fallout with each other. On the other hand, CHUEN's mother who has spoiled him since he is young, renders much support to him. Without realizing YIN's affections for her, KAR's words bring much encouragement to YIN whose love for her grows deeper and deeper.

CHEUNG does prove his capability when he cracks down on a difficult case. This not‧ only serves as a great boost to his self-confidence and. also wins CHUEN's appreciation and trust. Besides, CHEUNG's work also brings much fame to CHUEN since the police crackdown is widely covered by the mass media. SHAN is now pursued by both CHEUNG and CHUEN and she does not know who to choose. BILL feels unhappy about YIN's trying to get close to KAR. Somehow, he wants to reveal their relationship so as to stop him from courting KAR. But KAR insists on keeping that secret.

Though CHEUNG prospers in his career, his team-mates still does not like him. On the surface, they pay him respects but very often does not follow his order. CHUEN tries to warn them and. advise them to pay heed to CHEUNG's command. Instead of helping CHEUNG, this even means the situation worse as the other t e am-mat e s grow to hate CHEUNG more , In order to develop a better relationship with his team-mates, CHEUNG holds a birthday party at home inviting all of them to come. It is then that CHUEN realizes that CHEUNG is the boy-friend of SHAN. That is a great attack on him because all along his pride and arrogance makes him think that he will meet no competitor and SHAN will eventually become his wife. Faced with such a blow to his pride, he feels very depressed and does not feel like working at all. TIN encourages him and CHUEN is now determined both to win SHAN and prosper in his career.

LEUNG has all along feared his wife very much. Often his wire ill-treats him. Once he is scolded by her and CHOI, living next to him, overhears everything. CHOI sympathizes with LEUNG and the two gradually reconcile with each other. CHUEN tries to learn more about SHAN from CHEUNG in order to plan how to win her heart. After much work and effort, BILL finally crack down a case on forging identity cards. He hosts a get-together party the effort .of his team and celebrating his wedding anniversary. KM is unhappy about his deliberate act in disclosing their relationship. YIN is upset to learn that KAR is BILL's wife . But he discovers that the two of them do not get along with each other very well. SO he is still determined to win KAR's affections for him.

SHAN decides to get a job and pursue her career. CHUEN recommends her to work as a news reporter in the television station. Her good performance‧ wins her boss's appreciation and she is soon promoted ~o a senior position. MING learns from his mother that YEE has already got a close boy?friend named GEORGE. The two accidentally run into each other. A quarrel, breaks out between them and they have a fight. CHEUNG discovers that the son of one of his team-mates TUNG is disturbed by some triad members. He follows the case and eventually saves him from becoming a triad member. TUNG feels much indebted to CHEUNG for his great help and from then on respects CHEUNG much. Eager to see" BILL prosper in his career, KM is disappointed to see BILL paying no effort in cramming for the assessment examination. The two drift further apart.

LOK'CHEONG SAN is the head of a gang involving in a. lot of criminal activities. The police is eager to 'gather evidence of his crimes and make him pay for them. However , on the surface, he is a decent successful merchant arid the po1ice have difficulty dealing with him. When YEE learns that MING as fallen out with GEORGE because of her, she frankly tells MING that she has never had any affections for her. This hurts MUTG much. One day, while YEE and GEORGE are going out, they run into MING. However, the hw feel very frightened because they are carrying drugs with them. So they try to run away from MING whose suspicion grows and the two parties give chase , GEORGE's cycle overturns and he is hurt. When MING tries to question them, GEORGE seems to attack him with his gun. To protect himself, MING also fires and kills him. YEE overcome by fear faints.

When YEE recovers her consciousness and learns of GEORGE's death, she grows to hate MING and insists that MING kills GEORGE on purpose. BILL trusts that MING would not have killed C1EOHGEbecause of jealousy and tries to prove his innocence. MING now feels that the whole world has turned against him and. he grows to' be more reserved and tries to avoid others. K.AR does her best to counsel him. On the other hand, KAR and BILL's senior object to BILL's involvement in MING's Case for fear that he cannot remain impartial. Besides, BILL and KAR hold different opinions over the case and conflicts arise between them. SHAN plans to produce a special programme about the police force. She would like TIN to use his influence to bring convenience to her work. In order to please SHAN, CHUEN persuades TIN to offer her his assistance. Though a little reluctant, TIN final1y promises to help.

YEE feels very guilty of wrongly accusing MING for GEORGE's death. She takes the initiative to reconcile with him. Besides, after the whole incident, she grows to be more mature and decides to emigrate overseas to start a new life. MING is really sa.dto see her leave. After along struggle, KAR decides to separate from BILL and moves out of the house. When BILL goes to ask for her forgiveness, he discovers that YIN is madly in love with KAR. He blames YIN for causing their relationship to turn sour and beats him. This news reaches BILL's senior who asks KAR to counsel BILL for fear that leaving that unresolved will affect his chance of getting promoted. KAR shows that she cannot help much in this.

YIN is delighted to learn that KAR is proposing a divorce , Thinking that he now stands a better chance, he shows his affection for her but KAR refuses his love. Feeling sad and disappointed, YIN cannot stand being teased and humiliated by his team-mates. He threatens to kill them with his gun and finally he is sacked. CHEUNG's neighbour, LUK SIU FAN, is raped by SAN's son ROCKY. Besides offering her consolation, CHEUNG also promises to make ROCKY pay for his crime. After a thorough investigation, CHU~N still decides not to charge ROCKY because of insufficient evidence. CHEUNG is unwilling to give up the case and the two have a quarrel. SAN is afraid that ROCKY will get into trouble. So he pays FAN's mother a great sum of money asking not to let FAN appear as witness in the court.
1x16 - Episode 16
March 26, 1990
CHEUNG devotes much time to FAN's case and has little time to spend with SHAN. CHUEN gets hold of this opportunity to reveal his love for SHAN who remains unimpressed. YIN suffers setback both in his love and career. He is taken to drinking and MING is sad to find his best friend like that. MING asks KAR to talk to YIN. KAR encourages YIN to forget the past and start everything all over again. YIN accepts her advice and the two remains to be friends. Both BILL and CHUEN are investigating SAN's involvement in crimes. However, CHUEN succeeds in confiscating a great amount of arms while BILL's effort is in vain.
1x17 - Episode 17
March 27, 1990
Although both BILL and KAR know that they are partly responsible for making their relationship turn sour, they both hold fast to their principle and do not take the initiative to reconcile with each other. After his quarrel with CHUEN, CHEUNG finds him always posing difficulty to his work, CHEUNG is also angry to find that SHAN shares the same opinion with CHUEN over FAN's case saying that he is too emotional and impulsive. Because of this, CHEUNG falls out with SHAN. Seizing this opportunity, CHUEN proposes to SHAN who frankly refuses him and withdraws from the tangle. After much thought, SHAN friends herself deeply in love with CHEUNG. She goes to see CHEUNG and the two make up. After this, they grille de ever in love. CHUEN cannot stand such defeat in love and becomes very depressed. TIN gives him a lesson and CRUEN decides to turn' all his attention to his career.
1x18 - Episode 18
March 28, 1990
BILL asks SIN KA TAK who is a friend of SAN's nephew PING to gather evidence for SAN's crime. To avenge on ROCKY, FAN attempted to murder him. She fails and falls into his hands. ROCKY beats her fiercely and rapes her again. Feeling, hopeless, FAN tries to kill herself. On knowing this, CHEUNG applies to CHUEN for a leave in order to save FAN. CHUEN shows some reluctance as the whole team is busy following SAN's case. CHUEN refuses to grant him the leave. However, CHEUNG is much supported by his team-mates. Only by then does GHUEN' realizes that his influence is weak. To stand a better chance to be promoted, CHUEN knows that he needs to be on friendly terms with his subordinates. Hence, not daring to antagonize them, CHUEN compromises with CHUEN. In the end, ROCKY is arrested and charged on a number of crimes. Knowing that ROCKY cannot avoid paying for his crime, SAN arranges to sneak him out of Hong Kong.

March 29, 1990
TAX finally discovers that the evidence of SAN's crime is recorded in a computer disc. and he tries to steal that from PING. SAN finds out that PING is getting along with members of the police and tries t6 send him away. However, before PING leaves Hong Kong, BILL gets hold of the copy of the disc but PING refuses to offer help and HILL cannot gain access to the information in the disc. To prevent P1NG from disclosing evidence of his crimes, SAN sends someone to kill PING who is then saved by the police. PING now makes up his mind to stan

March 30, 1990
BILL eventually gets SAN arrested and is highly praised by his senior. Feeling now confident of his promotion, BILL earnestly prepares himself better for the assessment hoping that this may bring him and KAR back together. However, KAR has made up her mind of going back to the states. On the other hand, ROCKY on knowing that PING has betrayed his father causing his death, decides to avenge on him. When he meets PING, it just happens that KAR is also around. KAR is then taken hostage by ROCKY who forces BILL to meet him. In the end, BILL saves KAR from ROCKY's hand. CHUEN blames CHEUNG for paying too much attention to FAN's case and let BILL crack down on SAN's case, reducing his chance of getting promoted. Unable to stand CHUEN's criticism, CHEUNG resigns. Nevertheless, after careful consideration, both 'CHUEN and CHEUNG Decide to forget the past and make up again.
