HO has just returned from his mission to Korea, and the EMPEROR is happy about the fruitful outcomes. This further arouses the jealousy of General GAY, who is already anxious to get rid of HO. He grasps a golden chance to frame HO up. He informs the EMPEROR that HO has kept to himself a book named 'Book from Heaven', which is a guideline for governing the country. The EMPEROR is greatly annoyed and orders for the execution of HO and his family. HO's wife and only daughter FUNG are lucky to have escaped, but HO is captured. FUNG and her mother hide at the house of another mandarin, AN.
