Volunteers in palliative terminal care: they support their clients until the end. Psychologist Suzanne develops a strong bond with Will, who likes to enjoy life but also needs a listening ear. Finding a balance between her task as a volunteer and building a friendship proves difficult. Corné wonders how he can prepare his client Arie's wife for life without him. And Judy realizes through her client Ayla that life can be unpredictable for someone with a terminal illness.

Volunteer Lex is close to his client Dineke, despite his intention to keep his distance. Dineke has been waiting for her death for years instead of months, which makes the situation complex. Will opens up about the loss of his daughter thirteen years ago. Volunteer Suzanne admires his openness, but struggles with her own feelings about the loss of her mother. In the meantime, Corné tries to deal with the tense situation between his client Arie and his wife Marianne as best as possible.

Jacques, a former soldier, seeks support from his volunteer Franklin, who sees that he is now visibly deteriorating. Marianne discusses with Corné that she can no longer tolerate the tense atmosphere surrounding her husband's care. Client Dineke has already planned the date of her euthanasia. Lex fully supports her, but has doubts about how sure Dineke is about her case. Will has to go to the hospital again for an MRI scan and is afraid of bad news.

Marianne and Corné visit Arie in the hospice. Franklin fulfills the last wish of his client Jacques: together they visit the military grave of a fallen comrade of Jacques. Dineke is in sackcloth, because the date of her euthanasia was canceled. Will's life takes a different turn, and he discusses it with Suzanne.
