The movie was released on DVD in Italy in early March 2008. Straffi has noted that it was difficult to animate the girls' hair correctly in 3D.

This movie picks up after Season 4 leaves off, with the Wizards of the Black Circle / Fairy Hunters defeated and permanently locked away in the Omega Dimension (frozen) by the Winx. They restored magic on Earth, and Gardenia is now (at the time being) no longer under threat from the Earth's Major Fairies' revenge or from the Wizards. While Roxy went to Alfea to study magic, the Winx Club returned to their respected home worlds.
