Carlos Algara graduated with a B.A. from The Technological Institute of Higher Education of Monterrey, Mexico. His first short film, The Intruder (2010), was released at the 13th Shanghai Int. Film Festival. It was also selected at the 41st Int. Film Festival of India and was awarded the "Silver Goat" at the 6th Monterrey Int. Film Festival. In March of 2011 him and fellow director, Alejandro Martinez-Beltran created the production company The Visualistas, in Los Angeles and Monterrey, Mexico.
