A Loving Spirit - Season 1

1x1 - Episode 1

September 9, 1999

People rumour that there is ghost in the Tung Sing Cinema, therefore, the box office is not good. SUK introduces, YING, to work at this cinema. Although YING fears of ghost terribly, she accepts this offer for his boyfriend, KWOK, and his family`s sake. CHAI strongly believes that his ex-wife`s spirit is in the cinema. He always goes to the cinema. This makes his second wife, MUI, very jealous. YING burns incense in the cinema in the female washroom so as to make herself feel better. CHAI meets YING. He asks YING to inform him if she encounters the spirit. There is a white spirit bothering around in the female washroom while CHAI and YING are chatting.

1x2 - Episode 2

September 10, 1999

YING takes LUNG to the cinema to see a movie. When LUNG is watching the movie, a shadow attracts his attention. LUNG follows a person into the washroom. He sees a woman with a long pigtail gone into a closet. YING thinks that it is CHAI`s ex-wife`s spirit. She rings CHAI in the hope of having some reward. Unexpectedly, she offends MUI instead. MUI orders LAI to dismiss YING. YING begs LAI to give her one more chance with the condition that she would be responsible to lock the cinema main entrance every night. The female spirit has already followed YING home. The spirit even incarnates into SHEUNG and KAO`s bodies. Since CHAI has passed the business to TAK, both the cinema and the cotton mill business plummeted. CHAI convinces YIN to return to Hong Kong to look after the family business.

1x3 - Episode 3

September 13, 1999

The spirit, SIN, always incarnates into LUNG`s bodies to watch TV in SHEUNG`s room. SHEUNG is mad. Fortunately, YING mediates between them. YIN promises CHAI that he will return to Hong Kong to look after the family business. LAN is glad. She immediately perks herself up. All laugh at her. LAI becomes very unimportant since YIN has returned. MUI supports LAI. LAI thus always opposes YIN. Though SUK has a lot of boyfriends, KIN still loves SUK a lot and always tries his best to win her heart. SIN incarnates into KAO`s body to watch TV. Till then could YING be aware that there is ghost at home. LAI rejects all YIN`s proposals with the excuse that there is a ghost in the cinema. SIN always incarnates into the bodies of YING`s family members. YING burns incense for the spirit in the hope that it will leave.

1x4 - Episode 4

September 14, 1999

YING asks Aunt ERH KU to drive away the spirit. This act angers SIN. SIN bothers everybody at night. YING is exhausted. YIN is angry with them who always use ghost as an excuse to reject his suggestions. Thus, YIN is very annoyed with the ghost story. YING is not aware of this and even mentions to YIN what has happened at home. YIN scolds YING terribly. YING fears that she would be fired and cries. SIN apologizes to YING. LUNG thinks that he is a member of the paratroops and carelessly falls down from the top of the building. SIN incarnates into a coolie`s body so as to rescue LUNG. YING feels grateful for SIN`s help.

1x5 - Episode 5

September 15, 1999

TAK is born lazy. CHAI sighs. YIN promises to stay in Hong Kong to look after CHAI`s business. LAN begs MUI to let her accompany YIN to Macau for business. SIN appears in front of YING and tells YING her background. SIN was CHAI`s servant. The radio station broadcasts that a ship which KWOK is working at has had gone ashore. YING hurries to the shipping company to check. However, YING cannot speak English and cannot check about KWOK`s status. YING is very anxious. YIN passes by. YIN initiates to help YING and cancels his Macau appointment. KWOK is all right. YING is glad. LAN is very angry at the cancellation of the Macau trip. KIN suspects YING who is bothered by some spirit. They ask YING the truth. SIN appears. All are scared to death.

1x6 - Episode 6

September 16, 1999

SIN scares them terribly. YIN asks the staff to choose some good foreign movies. LAI again teases YIN. SIN explains why she felt guilty to YIN. Twenty years ago, SIN instigated the eight years old YIN to steal three thousand dollars from CHAI in order to help her boyfriend, BO. However, BO fled to Macau soon after he got the money. SIN tried to trace him but was drowned in the sea instead. SIN is determined to find BO before she would start her next life. All are not scared at SIN anymore after listening to her story. YING is glad to know that KWOK will return soon. YING sees the preview. YIN buys foreign films according to YING`s response. LAN is very dissatisfied.

1x7 - Episode 7

September 17, 1999

YIN concerns a lot about YING. LAN is jealous and always finds fault at YING. SIN knows that LAN always humbugs YING, she thus plays trick on LAN. SIN incarnates into LAN`s body and makes her clean the toilet. The foreign film is well received by the audience. YIN thanks YING and invites her to dinner. YIN plans to arrange an English course for the staff. YING is glad. LAN steals some tickets and imputes the fault on YING. YIN sees through LAN`s plot. In order to make LAN not so jealous, YIN arranges all to see the preview. LAI is bribed over by the film owner. LAI is in league with all staff to make YIN buy those poor quality films. SIN discovers their plot and informs YING. YING tells YIN the case. YIN devises to resolve the problem.

1x8 - Episode 8

September 20, 1999

YIN announces that he would not sack anybody. All are more at ease. MUI is very dissatisfied. She swears to take revenge. KIN got two concert tickets for SUK. SUK does not intend to go with KIN. She speaks a few sweet words to get rid of KIN. The Governor intends to see movie at Tung Sing Cinema. YIN arranges YING to welcome the Governor. YING practises hard for her English conversation. SIN again plays tricks on LAN. SIN makes LAN drink the honey water with cathartic which LAN intended to trap YING. SIN even makes LAN to dance on the auditorium and flings her shoes at the Governor. YIN is very angry. He worries that this incident would spoil Tung Sing Cinema`s reputation. YING accompanies YIN to the beach. YIN starts to develop special feelings towards YING.

1x9 - Episode 9

September 21, 1999

LAN strongly believes that she was bothered by spirit. Hence, she dares not return to the cinema. YIN suspects the spirit is his mother. MUI asks a Taoist to drive the spirit away. CHAI scolds MUI angrily. YING brings CHAI and YIN to see SIN. CHAI is very disappointed that it is not his wife. SIN lies to CHAI that his wife has already started a new life. MUI and LAI are secret lovers. MUI is very dissatisfied with CHAI who had scolded her. The typhoon signal is hoisted. YING is sick. She still goes to the Telegraph Office to answer KWOK`s call. YIN worries a lot for YING. He goes to the Telegraph Office to take her home. SIN knows that YIN does love YING but it is too late. YIN delivers a bonus to all staff. YING spends all her bonus to buy KWOK a bed. KWOK eventually returns. YING is very excited.

1x10 - Episode 10

September 22, 1999

KWOK dresses well. It seems that he has become very rich. KWOK conceals the truth that he was sacked. He claims that he would develop his business in Hong Kong. All believe his words. YING talks a lot. KWOK shows no interests on her at all. KWOK takes YING to a high-class restaurant. They meet YIN. KWOK shows off in front of YIN. YIN helps SIN to find BO. He goes to Macau with SIN. However, they cannot find BO. YIN meets the staff, MARGARET, of the Fox`s Corporation. YIN attempts to arrange a meeting with Fox. KWOK instigates YING to borrow one thousand dollars from YIN. YING is glad that she can help KWOK.

1x11 - Episode 11

September 23, 1999

YIN lends money to YING. All are jealous. YING brings an umbrella to KWOK. Unexpectedly, she finds a girl photo in KWOK`s wallet. KWOK even scolds YING. YING is heart-broken. KWOK easily re-wins YING`s trust with a few sweet words. MAGARET comes to Hong Kong to discuss with YIN regarding their contract. YIN goes sightseeing with MARGARET. MUI and CHAI find that the contract terms are not fair. In order to help YIN, SIN again incarnates into LAN`s body and bargains with MARGARET. YIN insists to sign the contract and guarantees that he would resign if the outcome is not good. In order to help YING, YIN finds an inexpensive office for KWOK. However, KWOK does not thank YIN at all. KWOK meets the girl, KWAN. KWOK has kept her photo in his wallet. In order to win KWAN`s favour, KWOK claims that he is a businessman. The new film attracts a lot of attention and there is long queue in the cinema. It seems that YIN is very successful……

1x12 - Episode 12

September 24, 1999

There is a fire in the cinema warehouse. Two reels of the new film are burnt. SIN devises to help but is in vain. There are too many audiences. It is out of control. Fortunately, MARGARET got two copies in time. KWOK rents an office in Central despite the fact that he does not have enough money. The landlord breaks his promise and rents to another tenant. SIN sees that YING is very upset. She thus goes to the office to scare the potential tenant away. KWAN buys KWOK a gold watch. The relation between KWAN and KWOK improves. KWOK treats YING coldly. SIN thinks that YIN and MARGARET are dating. SIN changes YIN`s gift to a white jade bracelet. White jade bracelet means love. MAGARET is glad. YIN knows that it is SIN`s deed. YIN immediately explains to MARGARET. MARGARET is very disappointed.

1x13 - Episode 13

September 27, 1999

MARGARET knows that YIN has no affections for her. She decides to return to Singapore. SIN discovers that KWOK has bought a wedding ring. KWOK even tells CHEONG that he would move out soon. SIN tells YING and her family. All are glad. Unexpectedly, KWOK expresses that he is not moving out together with YING. YING is heart-broken. KAO discovers KWAN in KWOK`s new home. KWOK and KWAN are very intimate. KWOK frankly tells KAO that he does not love YING anymore. KAO is in a dilemma. She keeps her mouth shut. SIN knows that there is something wrong. SIN attempts to incarnate into KWOK`s body but is in vain. KAO gives KWOK a spell so as to avoid SIN from bothering KWOK. TAK tries to win KWAN's heart but TAK and KWAN are very intimate. KWOK is very angry.

1x14 - Episode 14

September 28, 1999

In order to win KWAN`s heart, KWOK agrees to participate in car racing with TAK. However, KWOK does not have a nice car. He lies to YING. YING then asks YIN to lend KWOK his car. TAK recognizes that the car belongs to the CHING`s family. TAK takes the chance to insult KWOK. YIN tells YING the case. YING questions KWOK. KWOK proposes to break up with YING. YING is very upset. SIN is angry to see KWOK humbug YING, she incarnates into KAO`s body to beat KWOK. KWAN`s father is in great debt. KWAN seduces both KWOK and TAK to make them help her father. KWOK borrows money from the bank so as to help KWAN. However, KWAN follows an old man over fifty at the end.

1x15 - Episode 15

September 29, 1999

SIN instigates YIN to chase YING. However, YING still cannot forget KWOK. KWOK strongly believes that YIN has had ruined his business for the sake of taking revenge for YING. He hits YIN. Both TAK and KWOK are sufferers and pity each other. Both regard YIN as their enemy. They join together to smuggle illegal drugs so as to make big money. KWOK buys a luxurious flat. He shows off by giving everybody money. He even treats YING badly. YING is heart-broken. KAO and LUNG move to KWOK`s new flat. YING misses them. YIN admits that he is very fond of YING. He even expresses his love to YING. YING is so embarrassed that she resigns. YIN discovers that TAK is smuggling illegal drugs. CHAI throws away all illegal goods angrily. TAK shouts at CHAI. CHAI is so irritated that he faints.

1x16 - Episode 16

September 30, 1999

CHAI drives TAK away. YING has set up a flower shop. KIN and SUK always go there to console YING. In fact, KIN takes the chance to get close to SUK. YING encourages KIN to charm SUK. KIN eventually wins SUK`s heart. TAK and KWOK borrow money from HUNG to buy goods. Unfortunately, their goods were discovered by the police and were confiscated. KWOK sells his new flat to repay the debt. KWOK and his parents then move to live in a stone house. KWOK hates YIN more. CHAI changes his will. When MUI finds out, she persuades TAK to apologize to his father. YIN is glad to see YING again in NGOR`s wedding. SIN encourages YIN to see YING at her flower shop. YIN twists his ankle. YING takes very good care of him. YING finds that YIN still loves her. She tells YIN that she still cannot accept his love. YIN is very upset.

1x17 - Episode 17

October 1, 1999

YIN goes to U.S. for a business trip. MUI takes the chance to seize CHING`s wealth. KWOK has no alternatives. He needs to work at the gum plant in Borneo. He goes back to YING`s place to get his gold bracelet. However, the bracelet was put up in pawn. KWOK goes mad. SIN scares him away. KAO tells KWOK SIN`s story. KWOK finds out that the gum plant owner is BO, who SIN dreams to see. KWOK, TAK and MUI threaten SIN to help them with BO`s trace as exchange. They eventually seize Tung Sing Cinema and CHAI`s other properties. MUI gives part of her shares to LAI. KWOK asks a Taoist to lock SIN in a wind-bell. YIN comes back home and knows about MUI`s bad deeds. He leaves home together with CHAI. YIN hurts LAI unintentionally. MUI sues YIN. KWOK knows about MUI and LAI`s subtle relations.

1x18 - Episode 18

October 4, 1999

SIN has disappeared. YING worries a lot for her. YIN is being detained. YING takes care of CHAI. KWOK gets evidence regarding MUI and LAI`s secret relations. He tells TAK the case. TAK scolds them. KWOK takes the chance to instigate TAK to seize the authority. KWOK then devises to buy LAI`s share and become the biggest shareholder. KWOK eventually seized Tung Sing Cinema. MUI and TAK eventually awake. YIN is released. He swears to get back Tung Sing Cinema. CHAI persuades YING and YIN to become friends. YING agrees. KWOK is determined to ruin YIN`s future by all means, including losing money. He even dismantles the Tung Sing Cinema signboard. CHAI is so irritated that he faints. BO suddenly appears in Tung Sing Cinema.

1x19 - Episode 19

October 5, 1999

SUK takes BO to see CHAI. They suspect that SIN`s disappearance is related to KWOK. MARGARET proposes a plan in movie co-production. KWOK wins the contract with very unfavourable terms. YIN is very upset. YING consoles YIN. KWOK orders the Taoist to exterminate SIN. LUNG mistakenly takes the wind-bell away. LUNG finds out that SIN is being locked in the wind-bell. YING asks Aunt ERH KU to save SIN. SIN is happy to see BO again. SIN swears to take revenge. She scares the audience in the Tung Sing Cinema. The box office of Tung Sing is very bad. KWOK sells the cinema. With BO`s help, CHAI gets back Tung Sing Cinema. YIN shows ghost films and the box office becomes very good. TAK is so depressed that he crashes his car. TAK is sent to the hospital. CHAI and YIN worry a lot for TAK.
