8x1 - Episode 1

October 10, 2005

A preview of things to come this season on Fifth Gear. Tiff drives the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage and tests it out on a race track, sideways as usual. Tom goes to an exclusive auction held by Ferrari where tons of rare and expensive Ferrari related items were sold off. Tiff examines the Mazda SASSOU concept car. Fifth Gear Shootout: Vicki races the Porsche 911 Carrera S against the Lotus Exige 240R. Jason finds out if fighter pilots make good drivers and if drivers make good fighter pilots by going flying in a Harrier and by taking a pilot around the track in a Ford GT.

Tiff driving a Williams FW26 Formula 1 Grand Prix car races Vicki in a BMW M5, Jason tests the Pagani Zonda F and Jon Bentley discovers what it's like to hit a newly designed safe sign post. This episode's shootout is between the Mitsubishi Evo IX and the older Mitsubishi Evo VI.

Tom attends the Goodwood Festival of Speed where he drives the Maserati Birdcage concept car and Ferrari 575 Superamerica, Vicki challenges Michael Schumacher to an fuel economy race and Jason tests the new Mercedes S Class. This episode's shootout is between the Ford Fiesta ST 150 and the Mitsubishi Colt CZT.

Vicki says goodbye to the Honda NSX, Jason reviews the Aston Martin DB9 Volante and the latest report on Fifth Gear's project to build a 200mph car. This episode's shootout is between the Mazda RX-8 and the Alfa GT V6.

Tiff tests the Ferrari F430 Spider, guest host Charley Boorman attends the 2005 Motorcycle and Scooter Show and Vicki drives a BMW M5 with her eyes closed. This episode's shootout is between the Nissan 350Z and the Audi TT.

Tom reviews the Mercedes R Class SUV, Tiff drives the BMW M6, Vicki tests the new Mazda MX-5 and Jason tries his hand as a trader. This episode's shootout is between the Suzuki Swift and the Peugeot Jetforce 125 scooter.

Jason tests the Ford Focus ST, Tiff tackles a would be London Grand Prix circuit in a Studio G 350, Tom reviews the Lexus IS220d and Vicki driving a Dodge RAM SRT-10 races Chris Vermeulen in a 1933 Ford Coupe. This episode's shootout is between the Mercedes CLS 55 AMG and the Jaguar XJR.

Tiff tests the Porsche Cayman S on Britain's most dangerous road, Tom reviews the new Honda Civic and Jason attempts to sell his car for a profit. This episode's shootout is between the Volvo V50 T5 and the Legacy 3.0R Spec B Sports Tourer.

Jason drives the Lamborghini Gallardo SE Tiff speed tests 3 cars: the Nissan Micra C+C, the Seat Leon, and the Mercedes-Benz ML. The Fifth Gear crew tells who’s won the content cars so far this season. Jon Bentley reviews some portable satellite navigation systems. Fifth Gear Shootout: Tiff races two classic 80’s cars, the BMW E30 M3 and the Lancia Delta Integrale. And finally, the annual Fifth Gear Awards where Fifth Gear announces their "Car of the Year".
