A tycoon, Man is murdered. His son Fung is determined to find out who did it. Who is the real killer in this mysterious case? The night when Man was killed, Shan, who has been working in his company for years, found out that she is his illegitimate daughter. She worries that she may have killed Man while sleepwalking. Meanwhile, Fung and Shan find out that Man was behaving abnormally that night and wanted to rape Fung's cousin, Tung. Tung, who has congenitally impaired hearing, is suspected of killing Man out of self-defence.

In the press conference for a new cosmetic product, Director of a famous cosmetics company KO CHEUK MAN is going to announce his plan to entrust his business to his son KO FUNG. Before the press conference, FUNG asks to break up with LOK PUI PUI, a renowned model and the face of MAN’s cosmetics company. Just then, PUI, who wears a piece of red cheongsam, gets onto the stage and starts talking nonsense. She calls herself LAM MAN, which surprises everyone there. FUNG discovers that what PUI has said on the stage is what the late actress LAM MAN said in her last film. LAM MAN was once famous but she killed herself in the 1960s. FUNG’s good friend CHUNG CHI KIN is a police officer and he is currently engaged in the investigation into a suicide case. The female victim also called herself LAM MAN before she took her life. Looking at the photos of the scene, FUNG discovers a few questionable points in the case.… ...

PUI, who wants to commit suicide, gets ready to jump off the building, and for a split second FUNG pulls her back and saves her life. FUNG accuses SHAN, who is next to him, of bearing ill will, and poor SHAN does not even have a chance to defend herself. When SHAN knows that FUNG and TUNG broke into her home when she was out, she gets furious and gives them a severe telling-off. FUNG gets annoyed with SHAN’s strange behavior and wants to dismiss her. But to his surprise, MAN comes to intercede for SHAN. FUNG follows SHAN to the hospital. He presumes that SHAN is going to harm PUI but SHAN has actually come to talk to PUI about SHIM. FUNG goes to PUI’s home to do some cleaning up for her. Just then he decides to marry PUI, despite his family’s opposition. FUNG and PUI go to the beach where they declared their love for each other. Since then, SHAN and FUNG have become very good friends. PUI tries to escape from the police, but her car has caught fire. For a split second it loses control and crashes into the sea. Finally SHIM promises to reveal the truth. The workers responsible for the repair and renovation works try to break into MAN’s secret chamber, which infuriates MAN beyond measure. Nobody knows why MAN gets so angry about it. SHAN’s uncle SZE-TO PAK NIN decides to come back to Hong Kong with his family. NIN and his whole family plan to live with SHAN, which may cause a financial burden on her. Luckily she has successfully completed the probationary period and is relieved to know that her salary will be increased and that she is entitled to housing allowance. NIN and MAN are long-term friends. NIN and his family are therefore invited to MAN’s house for dinner. But soon after their arrival, MAN claims that something in the house is lost.… ...

FUNG ignores housekeeper CHAN LAI WAN’s warning and carries on with his investigation. To inhibit FUNG from carrying out further investigation, MAN claims that what he has lost is just a jewelry box for his first girlfriend. But FUNG believes that the case is not as simple as it seems. He and TUNG therefore go to the library to look for some information. FUNG notices the birthmark on NIN’s arm and comes to know that NIN is one of the people in the photo. He tries to find out more facts from NIN, but in vain. FUNG tricks NIN into going into the secret chamber. There NIN finally reveals the truth of what happened in the cloth factory many years ago. The press have reported that MAN has made a lot of money out of smuggling. Feeling ashamed, MAN puts the blame on FUNG and gives him a slap.… ...

FUNG asks whose ashes have been kept inside the jar. NIN has no choice but to tell the truth, and FUNG comes to understand why MAN has been trying to keep the whole thing secret. SIU LAM reveals how TAK has stolen the jar, and asks FUNG to intercede for TAK with MAN. FUNG, however, turns her down. SHAN has bought MAN some candies hoping to cheer him up, and MAN seems quite fond of her. MAN is found to be affected by an inherited disease, and immediately FUNG goes to have a medical check to see if he can donate his bone marrow to his father. FUNG discovers that TAK has embezzled a great deal of money from the company. He forces TAK to resign, but all of a sudden, MAN turns up and advises FUNG to take leave. SHAN is then appointed to take charge of the company temporarily.… ...

TAK denies that he killed MAN but he fails to provide an alibi for himself. Since there is sufficient evidence, KIN decides to prosecute TAK. SIU LAM blames FUNG and insists that it is an unfair accusation. She is in such a fit of rage that she faints. KIN has some special feelings towards SIU LAM but he just cannot work out why it is like that. FUNG senses that there is something wrong with SHAN and needs her to explain. But SHAN simply ignores him. KIN goes to the pub again to look for clues. Try as he may, he cannot help TAK prove his innocence, which disappoints SIU LAM greatly. FUNG tries to steal a bracelet which SHAN’s late mother has left behind. SHAN discovers this and gives him a terrible telling-off. SHAN finally reveals the truth of why she went on a cruise with MAN, why she was appointed as the Acting Executive Director, and how she got aware that MAN was actually her father on the night he was murdered.… ...

TUNG explains to FUNG why she had to kill MAN and how she tried to destroy the evidence, but FUNG just cannot believe it. FUNG wonders if he should call the police and get TUNG arrested. But when he hears that TUNG is ready to leave Hong Kong, he manages to stop her. FUNG’s uncle CHEUNG HON MING fears that the incident will humiliate and shame MAN, which may in turn affect the reputation of the company. For this reason, MING begs FUNG to let TUNG off, but FUNG hesitates. MING takes leave suddenly, which makes SHAN suspect that TUNG has absconded to avoid accusation. SHAN thus blames FUNG for letting TUNG get away. SHAN tries in vain to stop TUNG leaving Hong Kong. For a split second FUNG and KIN turn up, and TUNG has to follow KIN back to the police station. There is sufficient evidence to charge TUNG but FUNG believes that she will be found not guilty.… ...

SHAN wonders why FUNG has to take risk to help TUNG. FUNG explains that he feels so guilty for making TUNG suffer and that he really wants to make it up to her. TUNG leaves a suicide note and tries to take her life. She is rescued but remains in a vegetative state. FUNG has strong feelings of guilt and decides to go overseas to look for those world-renowned brain surgeons so that TUNG may have a chance to recover. SHAN is going to meet a very important client and is therefore under tremendous stress. FUNG understands her situation and promises to help her out. Being tormented by a nightmare, SHAN cannot concentrate while driving and almost runs over a guy called AU MAN WAI. At the recruitment fair, SHAN sees WAI who comes to apply for the post of Sales Executive. WAI is offered the post and everybody thinks highly of him because of his profound knowledge of cosmetic products. WAI is explaining to his colleagues the theory of dreams.… ...

SHAN is so perplexed by what she has said while under hypnosis. MING points out that everybody is influenced by his subconscious and can erase part of his memory, and SHAN believes so. SHAN goes to see KIN and turns herself in. She takes KIN to see Dr. LAM and KIN is also hypnotized. KIN claims that he needs to do a follow-up report but he is actually going to see SIU LAM. He is not aware that he is already in love with her. Following the clues in her dream, SHAN can finally find the murder weapon – a knife. She believes she is the murderer, and feels extremely guilty and sad. She buys her family some nice presents, and asks NIN to keep her passbook for her. Although the blood on the knife belongs to MAN, FUNG refuses to believe that SHAN is the murderer. WAI introduces FUNG to the world-renowned psychologist CHI. At first FUNG does not really trust CHI but later on he is totally convinced of CHI’s ability.… ...

As MING is trying to kill SHAN, he discovers that she has got a tapping device on her. Immediately he realizes it is a trap. A great chance is then lost and KIN is therefore very disappointed. From the conversation with CHI, FUNG has learnt more about MING’s background and his past. FUNG notices that MING has got a perfume bottle, which makes him believe that MING is involved in PUI’s case. FUNG tries but fails to persuade WEI, MING’s wife, to testify against MING. MING believes that TUNG will testify against him and thus goes to the hospital. On his way he meets CHI and he mocks CHI intentionally. MING has killed TUNG. He has no place to hide and finally agrees to reveal the truth. But soon afterwards, he finds that he was being hypnotized and he insists that what has been said while under hypnosis should not be taken as formal statements. Having heard MING’s words, WEI decides to testify against him.… ...

SHAN asks FUNG to stay because she is afraid that she is not yet qualified to be the Director of the company. FUNG says preparations have been made for the transition and advises her not to be so worried. FUNG remembers MAN had a medical check just a week before his death. He suspects that it has something to do with MAN’s decision to change his will. NIN and his family move into MAN’s house. NIN’s wife CHING YUEN MEI is not happy with the furnishings of the house. WAN reminds MEI that the design and the internal arrangement of the house cannot be altered, as instructed by MAN before he died. MEI, however, ignores WAN’s warning. SHAN is strongly opposed to TAK’s policy on human resources. She explains her views as to how to reduce production costs but has offended MAN’s cousin CHEUNG HOI LUN. MING is shot to death while SHAN is rescued. FUNG is badly injured and he needs a blood transfusion so that he can have the operation. NIN finds an excuse to make SHAN exempt from blood testing. KIN pays FUNG a visit. He notices that FUNG and SHAN talk like lovers and thus laugh at them. KIN knows that SIU LAM is afraid of the curse and he tries his best to console her. A small accident makes KIN remember that he was once rescued by SIU LAM. Unfortunately SIU LAM has already forgotten it. FUNG shows great loving care to SHAN, and SHAN is deeply touched. NIN suspects that SHAN has fallen in love with FUNG, but SHAN denies this. FUNG and SHAN go to the cinema, where they meet KIN and SIU LAM. KIN admits that he is in love with SIU LAM. FUNG is shocked to know that SHAN falls for him. He points out that it is totally impossible for them to get together and SHAN explains that she is not his real sister.… ...

The next day, everyone tries to get SHAN out of the secret chamber. They later even call CHI for help. CHI discovers that the mark of the curse has become more apparent. That night, SHAN faints, and everybody panics. They are all afraid of the curse and are unwilling to go on the business trip to Europe. Feeling so helpless and hopeless, they finally agree to ask FUNG to come back. FUNG has found some sedative drugs among the rubbish, and suspects that SIU LAM is involved in the strange goings-on. He decides to put her to the test. With TUNG’s help, FUNG has found a way to break the curse. After discussion with CHI, FUNG goes to the library, where he meets WAN. FUNG thinks that WAN means to create trouble and tries to make money out of it. He is therefore very angry with her. WAN offers her resignation but everybody asks her to stay. SHAN decides to transfer all of her shares to FUNG so that he can return to the Board of Directors.… ...

KIN meets the robber who has injured WAI. They start firing and KIN is shot. This, however, has helped SIU LAM get her memory back. The bullet hits KIN’s pendant which he intends to give SIU LAM. KIN is saved from death, but has lost the chance to express his love for SIU LAM. WAI has a bullet in his brain but the surgeon is not confident in carrying out the operation to take it out. SHAN therefore feels so guilty. Since then, NIN has hired a bodyguard for SHAN. SHAN, nonetheless, manages to shake off her bodyguard and goes car racing with FUNG. FUNG and SHAN follow KIN and SIU LAM. KIN takes SIU LAM to MAN’s tomb and honestly expresses his love for her. SIU LAM gets deeply touched and finally accepts KIN as her lover. Like what KIN did to SIU LAM, FUNG declares his love for SHAN, and SHAN is thrilled to bits. Since the robber is dead, SHAN asks NIN to dismiss the bodyguard. WAI has recovered but has lost his memory.… ...

FUNG finally gets aware of his true relationship with WAN. WAN tells him what happened all those years ago, and reminds him to keep it secret. SHAN and WAI go to Lantau Island to find out more about WAI’s background. From the conversation with his wife, WAI knows what kind of person he has been. He feels guilty and wants to make it up to everyone. From that day on, a lot of people come to ask him to return the money he owes them. Those who live in MAN’s house give WAN a hard time. FUNG cannot bear to see WAN suffer and persuades her to resign. WAI knows that his wife is being bullied by her current boyfriend HO, and immediately goes with SHAN to help her out. WAI has saved her wife’s illegitimate son, and has successfully driven HO away. He is highly appreciated for his courage and heroism. A crazy man comes to WAI’s home and throws some false paper money for the dead onto the floor. WAI and SHAN follow that man to a place.… ...

FUNG wonders where WAN has got the wool from and he begins to suspect her. FUNG asks NIN why he has been concealing WAN’s true identity, and NIN gives his reasons. Having heard what NIN said, FUNG believes that WAN means to take revenge on MAN’s family by using him strategically. SHAN, WAI and FUNG are attacked by a hit man. WAI injures his head while trying to lure the hit man away. FUNG supposes SHAN is the hit man’s target and he believes that the hit man is sent by WAN. WAN denies that she has plotted to kill SHAN but FUNG does not believe her. It is FUNG’s birthday but WAN is absent from work. FUNG goes to WAN’s home at once and finds her lying half-dead. FUNG discovers a bloody handkerchief and a suicide note left by WAN. He blames himself for pushing WAN to the verge of death, and breaks down crying in TUNG’s arms. SHAN has made some soup for FUNG, but FUNG, who is not in a good mood, refuses to try the soup.… ...

WAI is desperate to get his memory back and decides to have the operation even though there is only a 50-50 chance of success. The operation is successful and SHAN is thrilled to bits. FUNG takes SHAN’s advice and stops fooling around. WAI is discharged from hospital. He takes SHAN to where he got injured, and expresses his love for her. SHAN, however, turns him down. A car passes and deliberately runs over WAI and SHAN. TUNG believes that SHAN is the target of attack and NIN is suspected of being involved in the plot. FUNG discovers that NIN is holding the money that is allocated to the fund. This makes FUNG even more suspicious of NIN. SHAN is kidnapped from the hospital. WAI blames himself for having not protected SHAN and letting her suffer. FUNG, however, believes that SHAN is not taken away by force. NIN goes to pay the ransom but on the way he has carelessly dropped his radio.… ...

NIN tries to escape by using a stratagem. He almost succeeds but at the last moment, he is discovered by FUNG and gets arrested. From the very beginning WAI has noticed some goings-on, and with SHAN’s help, he has successfully set a trap for NIN. FUNG and SHAN go to see NIN who has been taken into custody. After serious consideration, NIN decides to reveal the truth – he first persuaded MAN to change the will by making up stories. Then he killed MAN and tried to shift the blame onto WAN. Later he even plotted to kill SHAN so that he could inherit all of her property. Having heard what NIN said, FUNG feels extremely shocked. Now that the truth has come out, FUNG is reconciled with SHAN. SHAN and WAI seem to get on well, which makes FUNG a little upset. FUNG discovers the cassette tape recorded by WAI, on which WAI expresses his love and affection for SHAN.… ...

Having heard SHAN confide in WAN who is still in a coma, FUNG can now put all his doubts aside. He decides to get back with SHAN, which breaks TUNG’s heart. WAN wakes up from coma and everybody is thrilled to bits. The Youth Entrepreneur Fund is going well, and SHAN appoints WAI to monitor the allocation of funds. FUNG keeps on getting messages from PUI. At first he thinks someone is joking, but later he becomes more and more worried believing that something must have gone wrong. WAN is discharged from hospital and she urges FUNG and SHAN to get married as soon as possible. FUNG and SHAN go to the bridal wear shop to try on wedding dresses. A girl who very much looks like PUI passes by. FUNG is so surprised and immediately goes to look for the girl. But in just seconds, the girl is gone. FUNG tells SHAN that he is very perplexed by PUI’s sudden appearance but SHAN does not make allowances for him.… ...

SHAN trusts WAI and agrees to add money to the fund. WAI knows FUNG still loves SHAN and tries his best to stop them from getting back together, but in vain. FUNG goes to meet PUI after getting a call from her. But PUI, who has been badly disfigured, is unwilling to see him. FUNG then gets back to the bridal wear shop and waits for SHAN. Almost immediately comes the news that PUI has had an accident. FUNG rushes to PUI’s home to see what is going on. FUNG is shocked to see WAI at PUI’s home. He comes to know that WAI and PUI are the same person. PUI explains to him what has happened but FUNG just finds it so unbelievable. KIN, TUNG and SHAN have found PUI’s diary, in which she reveals her determination to seek revenge on FUNG. They are all very worried about him. FUNG is aware of the truth. But he wonders why PUI does not leave Hong Kong now that she has got what she wants.… ...

Her brother, Chow Chi-Jim (David Lui), and sister-in-law, Shui Tin-Lan (Margie Tsang) opened a pet shop to earn money for the family.

Upon returning from a trip with her husband NG MAN TAK (Chung King Fai), cookery teacher LO SIU LAI (Lee Sze Kei, Louise) is shocked to find that her little daughter NG CHOI NI (Chen Fala) has started cohabiting with a homosexually inclined colleague LAU TAT YAN (Hung Tin Ming) while her divorced sister LO SIU MEI (Ng Wing Mei) is seemingly caught up in a love triangle between tenant YAU KAI (Mak Cheung Ching) and her ex-husband. By and by TAK is forced to retire early and stays at home all day with nothing to do. LAI, on the other hand, is lucky enough to have the opportunity to host a culinary show on TV. Everything seems to have happened too fast but this does not leave LAI frustrated and accursed. Instead she tries to get round every problem with even more patience and dedication, which however is not appreciated by TAK. The bickering continues until LAI eventually thinks of a good way to tackle TAK…
