1x1 - Episode 1

April 9, 2007

Following the death of Sheung Wan’s abalone tycoon TONG YAN-KAI, his descendants are to launch a legal battle for an estimated fortune of HK million. TONG CHI-YAT is on the side of his stepmother WONG SAU-KAM, who is against his siblings CHI-ON, CHI-FOON and CHI-YAN. The story goes back a few years, when KAI was still alive… KAI has got two wives, namely LING HAU and WONG SAU-KAM. Despite the complex relationships among them, the TONGS have been living together in harmony and their business has expanded from a small sea-products retailer to a portfolio of assets worth more than HK million. LING LEI, the younger sister of HAU, is in charge of the daily management of Tong Ki Sea-products. She is furious to discover that her brother LING PO has purchased a consignment of poor-quality mushrooms. A customer called SHEUNG TSOI-SUM has just bought some mushrooms at Tong Ki.… ...

The whole family has held a dinner for HAU to celebrate her birthday and her recovery, during which everyone has got a chance to try the “double head abalones”. Now that KAI has a bite of the “double head abalones”, his lifelong dream is finally fulfilled. YAN has a crush on a shoe salesman named HO SIU-KEI and is amazed to find out that he is going to take part in a cross-harbor swimming race. She tries to persuade ON to buy her a set of fitness equipment so that she can keep herself in shape and show her best face to KEI. ON comes to discover that SUM is actually a good friend of YAN. Following her defeat in her legal action against her husband’s mistress, Mrs. WONG comes to Tong Ki with her son to cause trouble. ON gets injured in the confusion and is sent to hospital for treatment. HAU goes to the hospital to see ON, during which she manages to have a talk with Mrs. WONG.… ...

KAI has won a voucher for a free tour in the lucky draw. To enjoy a holiday with KAM, KAI offers to pay top-up fees for a cruise to Dubai, in the hope that HAU, who is prone to seasickness, will choose not to join them. KAM has changed her mind and would like to go on a shopping trip to Europe. KAM and KAI bump into YAN when they are shopping around. KAI is shocked to discover that YAN has started dating (which is a breach of the family rule as children of the TONGS are not allowed to go out with members of the opposite sex until they get into university) while YAN and her friends have noticed that KAI and KAM have bought two sets of ski gear. YAN and KAI have then made a pact to keep each other’s secrets. To make his plan work, KAI even tries to enlist the help of YAT and FOON. KAI and HAU’s 35th wedding anniversary is coming, so ON plans to arrange a family tour to Dubai for a celebration.… ...

In an attempt to approach KEI, YAN decides to take part in the cross-harbor swimming competition. Unfortunately she is injured by a jellyfish midway through the race and needs to be sent to hospital for treatment at once. KAI tries to get KAM to apologize to HAU, but in vain. KAM thinks that she has been ill-treated by the TONGS over the years. Fearing that her biological son FOON will only get a small share of the family fortune, KAM remains in a bad mood and is getting more and more sensitive. HA has split up with her boyfriend. To cheer the girl up, YAN lures ON to HA’s flat in the name of his biological father, hoping that he will bring a bit of fun and laughter. She forces ON to play mahjong with her friends, making him an object of ridicule all through the night. On their way home, SUM gives ON a few words of consolation and ON is so impressed by her thoughtfulness.… ...

HAU decides to hold her 35th wedding anniversary celebration in Hong Kong. The family of nine have a buffet dinner, following which ON and his siblings present HAU with a specially made music video. HAU gets so surprised and is deeply moved by her children’s thoughtfulness. HAU and YAN head for the United Kingdom to look for information on universities. Before she goes, HAU reminds KAI to put KAM’s name on the title deeds of two shop premises. KAM wants to have a site visit and needs KAI to look around the shop premises with her. SUM wants to borrow HK,000 from ON and ON, without much consideration, agrees to her request. ON is shocked to discover that SUM has spent all the money on football betting. He feels cheated and tells KAI and PO about the whole incident. KAM has picked out her favorite shop premises and proposes to increase the rent from HK,000 to HK,000 per month.… ...

SUM is devastated by the insults flung at her. To prove her integrity, she not only pawns everything she has to repay part of the loan but also writes ON an IOU. KAM and LEI have hardly been on speaking terms since the dispute over the shop rentals. KAI would like to put KAM’s name on the title deeds of two bigger shop premises but offers it as a suggestion from LEI. KAM reveals during the dinner that the two shop premises recommended by LEI are found to be full of problems. She believes that it is all a plot by LEI and is so angry with her. KAI tries to prevent LEI from showing up, but in vain. LEI and KAM pick a quarrel as soon as they meet in the restaurant. LEI can no longer put up with KAM’s verbal insults and decides to move away. HA asks ON out for SUM’s sake. She reveals to ON that SUM’s brother TAK had run up debts and SUM, as his guarantor, was being threatened by the loan sharks.… ...

KAI wants to settle the argument between KAM and LEI through the help of PO but ends up offending him unwittingly. PO gets so angry with KAI that he decides to resign. PO is going to work for another sea-products shop and has successfully convinced his colleague KAT to join him in making a career move. ON tries his best to make it up to SUM and is surprised to discover that she is planning to sell her cat via the Internet. With the help of YAT, ON manages to win the bid at a high price. ON does not want SUM to find out too soon that it is he who has been helping behind. To keep the truth from her, ON has been hiding his identity. But no secret can be kept forever and SUM is really furious when she finally finds out the truth. She assumes that ON is only playing a trick on her.… ...

The goods left by TAK do not sell well, and to lend a hand to SUM, ON tries to learn some simple Filipino words from his Filipino friends so that he can help promote the sale among the Filipino community. HAU learns from her maid and the restaurant staff that the TONGS were caught up in a series of family conflicts while she was away. YAT and her girlfriend CHEUK MAN-LAI go on a date together but they get hounded by the paparazzi all through the day. LAI is in fact a married woman. YAT wants to terminate their adulterous relationship but LAI is so unwilling to break up with YAT. YAT suddenly gets attacked when he is walking along with ON in the street. ON happens to meet SUM’s father and offers to help him with different types of household repairs. PO reveals to the TONGS that he has approached certain travel agencies and that the people in charge have agreed to bring their tour groups to Tong Ki.… ...

PO asks KAM, who was not around when he was told off by HAU, out for tea. During their tea gathering, PO distorts what HAU says by claiming that she is going to give KAM a lesson. The Charity Race Walking Cup is approaching, so ON offers to be the trainer for the whole family, during which he happens to discover the secret relationship between YAT and LAI. YAT gets a call from LAI and is shocked to hear that someone has got their intimate photos. The pair are being blackmailed for HK,000. ON invites SUM to join Tong Ki, which causes KAI and others to speculate about his relationship with the girl. ON’s family believe that he must be in love. ON is surprised to learn that YAT is being blackmailed. To help him out of the predicament, he decides to embezzle money from Tong Ki, which is later discovered by LEI. Assuming that it is PO who has embezzled the money, LEI gives PO a severe telling-off during the dinner.… ...

KAI has written a letter to ON describing how sad he is about the embezzlement. PO keeps on attacking ON for what he has done, thus adversely affecting the domestic harmony. YAN is busy preparing for her A-level examinations but is so deeply disturbed by the recent family conflict that she suffers from insomnia almost every day. To help relieve her pressure, the TONGS decide to play a few games of table tennis with the girl. KAI manages to get SUM’s phone number and calls her up to give her a dressing-down, which shocks ON to the core. ON offers to apologize to SUM at once but SUM says she takes no offence at all at KAI’s remarks. YAT urges LAI to get a divorce from her husband but LAI rejects his request with a list of excuses. PO continues to attack ON and the verbal insults thrown at ON are getting more and more serious with each passing day. HAU can no longer put up with PO and orders him to shut up.… ...

PO attacks ON again, which irks YAT no end. YAT cannot bear to see ON suffer and eventually reveals that it is he who has taken HK,000 and that the money is used to help a female friend of his who is in financial need. Although ON has proved his innocence, he still gets blamed by HAU. ON wants to say sorry to HAU asking SUM for help to finish an apology letter. ON drives YAN to the examination centre and passes her a red packet as a token of support. During the dinner, YAN expresses her gratitude to ON for all he has done for the family. Having heard what YAN says, HAU offers to apologize to ON. ON treats SUM to a meal, after which SUM runs into her one-time senior schoolmate CHING LEUNG, who has now become a solicitor. From LEUNG, she has got an interview opportunity unexpectedly. KAI notices that ON has been behaving strangely of late.… ...

KAM goes to confide in PO, during which they bump into YAT and LAI. LAI looks very familiar to KAM. Out of curiosity, KAM decides to take a photo of LAI with her mobile phone. Later KAM finds out that LAI is the wife of a local business tycoon. In an attempt to sow discord, she reveals to the TONGS the adulterous relationship between YAT and LAI. HAU asks YAT for an explanation and YAT admits that he has been dating LAI for quite a while. YAT goes on to reveal the truth behind the embezzlement of HK,000, which enrages HAU even further. HAU gets so worked up that she falls down in a faint and is sent to hospital right away. KAI and YAT go to see HAU in the hospital. KAI urges YAT not to provoke HAU in any way. Despite KAI’s warning, YAT presents HAU with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of LAI. KAI and YAT have once again got into a quarrel.… ...

KAI asks YAT to put his wedding on hold but YAT insists on marrying LAI without any delay. YAT reveals his plan to hold a marriage ceremony in the United States, which irks KAI beyond measure. Filled with anger, KAI gives YAT a severe dressing-down and kicks him out of the family home. Tong Ki’s abalones have been illegally replaced. Believing that there must be some strange goings-on behind the scenes, LEI decides to raise her concerns during the family dinner. In an attempt to distract others, PO means to speak ill of YAT. KAI asks PO not to comment further on the affair between YAT and LAI but the guys end up in a terrible fight. YAT and LAI go to visit HAU in the hospital. YAT reveals to HAU that LAI is found to be pregnant with his baby and that he is resolved to marry her no matter what. HAU flies into a rage and throws the pair out of the ward. LEI discovers that PO has run an abalone farm in mainland China.… ...

ON seizes every opportunity to eat with SUM. He believes that his relationship with SUM is going really well. In order to punish KAM, HAU puts her at the far end of the dining table and deters her from taking part in all kinds of family activities. ON comes to discover that it is not he but LEUNG who is SUM’s real Prince Charming. Desperate to regain his place in SUM’s heart, ON sends her a bouquet of thirteen classic roses as an expression of love. Not knowing how to react, SUM starts to avoid ON. KAM writes PO a check for HK,000 hoping that he will take full responsibility for running the abalone farm. PO agrees to her request without much hesitation. HAU has decided to evict PO from TONG’s Mansion. Shocked and embarrassed, PO packs up his things and goes off right away. ON has finally come face to face with SUM.… ...

The TONGS are about to meet LAI’s family but HAU has decided to exclude KAM from the dinner and needs her to stay at home. The two families have had a nice chat and the dinner ends in a very good atmosphere. Filled with nostalgia, KAM asks KAI to have a tram ride with her, during which she blames KAI for not having stood by her when she is in need. KAI plucks up his courage and tries to intercede with HAU for KAM. HAU promises to forgive KAM and the family is back in harmony again. LAI’s mother LAI-MEI requests four shop premises as LEI’s betrothal gifts, which shocks the TONGS to the core. SUM’s friend MING-HA holds a birthday party at a pub. As she is celebrating with her friends, the wife of her boyfriend suddenly turns up and gives her a severe telling-off. YAT’s wedding is approaching but the TONGS have already lost contact with PO. PO who is dressed in ragged clothes walks past the entrance of Tong Ki.… ...

KAI offers to give MEI over HK,000,000 as LAI’s betrothal gifts but MEI refuses to give in. MEI asks for three shop premises from the TONGS and emphasizes that she will not attend LAI’s wedding if her request is not granted. The TONGS and the CHEUKS have got into a serious argument. HAU asks MEI out and brings her to a shop premises owned by the TONGS. HAU would like to give the shop premises to the CHEUKS as LAI’s betrothal gifts, which gives MEI a great thrill. MEI is so happy with the offer and finally promises to attend the wedding. In fact the shop premises has already been passed to KAM. Now that MEI has taken the property, KAM will have to pick another shop premises. KAM is so unhappy about HAU’s decision. To seek revenge, KAM decides to approach the media and get them to cover YAT’s wedding. Dozens of journalists come to the wedding of YAT and LAI.… ...

YAT and LAI make a formal apology to PO. PO accepts their explanation and finally offers forgiveness to the couple. KAI and HAU go out for tea together, during which KAI suddenly claims that he has a terrible stomachache and asks to leave at once. KAI is in fact pretending to be sick so as to avoid a woman called UT-YING. ON bumps into SUM’s father FUNG again in the street. ON brings FUNG back to his home in the Sai Wan Estate, and to avoid any possible accidents, he decides to put labels on various household items for FUNG. ON goes to visit SUM later in the night but is shocked to learn that the building she lives is on fire. ON feels a huge sense of relief when he knows that SUM and FUNG are safe and sound. Knowing that SUM’s beloved cat has gone missing, ON decides to wait until the building is reopened so that he can help with the search later on. ON manages to find the cat and returns it to SUM anonymously.… ...

The wealthy tycoon from South Africa CHAN KWOK-LIT decides to come to Hong Kong to see ON. KAI and LEI are so disturbed by the sudden appearance of UT-YING. After some consideration, they decide to have a talk with the woman. The TONGS are going to have dinner with LIT but KAI refuses to join them. KAI turns up suddenly midway through the dinner and asks LIT to provide evidence to prove his relationship with ON. SUM realizes that LEUNG has been trying to keep away from her in front of others in spite of their intimate relationship. This has upset her slightly. KAM goes to see LIT and reveals to him when and where ON was discovered as an abandoned baby. LIT is so grateful to KAM for the information and gives her HK,000 as a token of thanks. He promises to further reward her with HK,000,000 if he can be reunited with ON eventually.… ...

PO keeps pestering KAI for an explanation. KAI cannot put up with his endless questioning and finally reveals the truth – KAI is in fact ON’s biological father. PO tries to approach UT-YING, who actually wants nothing but a chance to see ON face to face. Knowing that UT-YING has not come for money, PO decides to grab this opportunity and swindle KAI out of HK,000. By stratagem, ON manages to make KAI tell the truth – ON’s biological mother UT-YING used to fancy KAI and had been wooing him for quite a while. After knowing that HAU was diagnosed with cancer, KAI sank into despair and meant to drink himself into oblivion. Drunk as a skunk, KAI had sex with UT-YING and made her pregnant. Three months following the birth of ON, UT-YING got married and moved to Malaysia. She did not take baby ON with her and left him alone at the nursery instead without paying the fees.… ...

The disclosure of ON’s identity has enraged KAM beyond all belief. KAM asks to split up with KAI but is stopped by HAU. HAU announces to the TONGS that she is heading for the United Kingdom to take a rest and that she will leave all the family issues with KAM in the coming days. SUM and LEUNG have a gathering with their friends at a pub, during which SUM gets to realize that ON has been very down and depressed. SUM wants to leave for a while so that she can accompany ON and gives him a few words of comfort, which is not opposed by LEUNG. SUM can finally get in touch with ON. As SUM is consoling ON, HA, who is in the pub too, goes to chat LEUNG up and manages to have a dance with him. LEUNG would like to go on a trip to Maldives with SUM but the plan has to be cancelled soon after due to some reason. The pair have a terrible quarrel over this subsequently. It seems that no one except KAM can get in touch with HAU.… ...

SUM is worried that LEUNG may go to see his ex-girlfriend in secret. Later SUM finds out that it is just a misunderstanding and LEUNG has made his apology by sending her a bouquet of flowers. HAU reveals to KAM that her cancer is found to have recurred. KAM tells KAI about HAU’s situation and claims that it is HAU’s wish to sell all the shop premises so that YAT will have enough capital to establish his own business. KAI is astonished to hear the news. To give LEUNG a birthday surprise, SUM has been learning saxophone in secret. The saxophone teacher is very negative about SUM’s progress and states that she has absolutely no talent for playing this musical instrument. Despite such harsh comments, SUM has no intention of giving up. YAT and LAI are returning from their honeymoon. KAM offers to pick them up at the airport and reveals everything that has happened to the family recently.… ...

Although SUM has been trying hard to catch up in each of her saxophone lessons, she is advised to withdraw due to her lack of talent. ON reveals that he is an expert at playing the saxophone, so SUM asks to be his apprentice at once hoping that she can manage to play a song for LEUNG on his birthday. SUM’s brother SHEUNG TSOI-TAK comes back home suddenly. He claims that he is no longer interested in doing business and will look for a steady job as soon as possible. LEUNG warns SUM not to expect too much of TAK. What he says has made SUM very unhappy, which soon leads to a bitter row between the pair. HAU is about to undergo the first course of chemotherapy. ON needs all members of the TONGS to stay optimistic and to support HAU with smiles and laughs during her fight against the disease. LEUNG suggests that HA may try to look for her Mr. Right through cold calling.… ...

HAU has completed the initial course of chemotherapy and is sent back home for recuperation. The CHEUKS have come to pay HAU a visit, during which MEI secretly urges LAI to move back with her. MEI points out that HAU has been suffering from a serious disease, which is believed to be a bad omen for the rest of the family and is very likely to constitute a threat to the health of LAI’s baby. LAI, however, does not believe in superstition and insists on staying at TONG’s Mansion. LEUNG apologizes to SUM but SUM is determined to split up with him. LEUNG is so depressed that he means to drink himself into oblivion, during which he happens to bump into HA. YAT and LAI start to quarrel again – LAI’s ex-father-in-law is dying in the hospital and LAI is desperate to pay him a visit, with which YAT is very unhappy. YAT refuses to let her go but HAU finally agrees to LAI’s request under her persistent persuasion.… ...

LAI would like to attend the funeral of her ex-father-in-law but is stopped by HAU. HAU points out to LAI that she should recognize and respect the feelings of everyone in the family. HA realizes that she has fallen in love with LEUNG but her dream is soon shattered when she hears that he has already made up with SUM. HAU falls down in a faint suddenly. Thinking that she is about to die, HAU, after waking from her coma, asks ON to help gather the family around every time she falls unconscious so that she can say a last farewell to everyone. And ON, with tears in his eyes, agrees to her request without hesitation. ON manages to get TAK a job but TAK is sacked shortly afterwards. LAI has promised to model for her ex-husband and is still worried about how to convince YAT. She turns to HAU for help but is rejected right away. LAI who insists on modeling in the fashion show accidentally slips off the chair in the changing room.… ...

YAT brings HAU to a shop premise, which is the proposed location of the to-be-established Tong Ki Abalone Restaurant. YAT has complete confidence in running the restaurant. KAI and FOON are told by their family doctor that KAM is found to have symptoms of depression. HAU loses consciousness again. ON manages to gather the family around so that HAU can say goodbye to them one by one. LEUNG offers to take FUNG to see the doctor but FUNG later goes missing along the way. SUM puts the blame on LEUNG and once again asks to break up with him. LEUNG is so unhappy that he decides to confide in HA. HA gives LEUNG a few words of consolation. Filled with warmth and thankfulness, LEUNG leans forward and kisses HA passionately. HAU wakes up from the coma and is out of danger. KAI brings KAM to see HAU. KAM kneels down before HAU to make her apology but HAU does not show any response.… ...

The abalone restaurant is unlikely to be ready for opening on HAU’s birthday, which irks YAT a bit. PO tells YAT that LAI has met her ex-husband in secret. YAT goes to ask LAI for an explanation, which causes her to pick a quarrel with PO afterwards. HAU calls LEI up asking her to dismiss PO from his posts at both Tong Ki and the abalone restaurant. PO is resolved to find out who has been keeping HAU informed of the family’s situation. ON admits that he is the one who has provided HAU with the latest family updates. PO goes to confide in KAM and an idea suddenly occurs to KAM during their conversation. KAM keeps talking about the affair between LAI and her ex-husband while dining with KAI. Fearing that LAI will cheat on YAT, KAI warns YAT to keep a close eye on his wife. Desperate to fan the flames of conflict, KAM gets KAI to go and hassle LAI’s ex-husband at his office.… ...

TAK reveals to ON that he has been hired as a ballroom dancing teacher. He asks ON for some pocket money, but is rejected. LEUNG brings HA to his new home to have a look. Having noticed SUM’s message on the wall, HA decides to leave a few words on the wall too. KAM who has been learning ballroom dancing is one of TAK’s students. The two of them have soon become friends. TAK has heard from KAM about the current situation of the TONGS. TAK sides with KAM and promises to help her claim a half share of the family fortune. LEUNG holds a housewarming party at his new apartment, during which SUM is addressed by her colleagues as “Mrs. CHING”. SUM seems very happy to be identified as LEUNG’s other half. LEUNG wants to terminate his relationship with HA but cannot stand the pain of separation from her. He is so obsessed with HA that he finally chooses to continue the affair.… ...

ON asks after LEUNG but SUM reveals that LEUNG has been so busy with work and that they have not seen each other for quite a while. SUM’s reply has shocked and worried ON deeply. HAU is sent to hospital again. PO informs KAM of HAU’s latest situation and KAM is over the moon to hear that HAU is already on the verge of death. TAK reminds KAM that she will need HAU’s forgiveness and permission to be allowed back to the family. KAM hurries to the hospital and falls to her knees to beg for HAU’s forgiveness. HAU gets to whisper to FOON before she draws her last breath. FOON points out that HAU has granted KAM forgiveness in her last words. Three months after HAU’s death, Dr. TSU passes an audio tape of HAU to the TONGS. The TONGS are sad yet moved to hear HAU’s voice again. SUM and LEUNG finally find out that it is ON who has been helping TAK in secret. LEUNG, however, is very unhappy about ON’s constant assistance.… ...

SUM is shocked to discover that LEUNG is not at home. She calls LEUNG up and cannot help crying when speaking to him. But LEUNG is too busy flirting with HA that he does not realize that there is anything wrong with SUM. In order to keep his secret, LEUNG goes on to lie to SUM. KAI brings KAM to HAU’s tomb on her birthday to pay her respect, to which ON and his siblings are not opposed. KAM reveals to TAK that her relationship with the TONGS seems to have improved a lot. KAM and TAK are in fact having an affair. SUM has found some evidence at LEUNG’s home which indicates that he has been lying. LEUNG goes on a business trip and manages to squeeze in a short stay at Taiwan with HA after finishing the work. KAI takes KAM back to TONG’s Mansion, to which LEI and ON are strongly opposed. After a serious argument with LEI and ON, KAI finally decides to put KAM up in the guest chamber.… ...

Under the influence of SUM, LEUNG has sought to improve his relationship with his mother. HA asks LEUNG out for a chat, during which she reveals that she has already got into a new relationship. LEUNG is so pleased for HA and extends his most sincere greetings to her. KAI realizes that there is something wrong with his health, which bothers him hugely. KAM tells KAI that she has made a mistake and that she is not expecting a baby. To make his apology, KAI would like to treat the family to a nice meal. But in a split second, KAI falls into a dead faint and is later diagnosed as having a stroke. He is very worried about his health even though he has only suffered a mild stroke. LEI has arranged for ON to go on a blind date with a Canadian-born Chinese girl named CHERRY. Knowing that ON will start dating very soon, KAI feels so happy and the whole family is once again filled with joy and life.… ...

The death of LEUNG’s mother has unwittingly brought about the reconciliation between LEUNG and SUM. With SUM by his side, LEUNG has calmed down a bit and begins to fall asleep. After saying goodbye to LEUNG, SUM gets into a taxi. SUM learns from the taxi driver that there is a horrific collision between a car and a taxi somewhere nearby. Fearing that LEUNG is involved in the crash, SUM hurries to the scene of the accident to see what is going on. LEUNG, on the other hand, is also worried about SUM and decides to make his way to the scene of the collision at once. Among the things left behind by LEUNG, SUM has found a sea shell, on which the words “Please Forgive Me” are carved. SUM breaks down again as she catches sight of the sea shell. KAI, who is lying on his bed in the hospital, explains to his children that it was HAU’s decision to pass the four remaining “double head abalones” to KAM. He hopes that KAM will have a change of heart after receiving this precious present from the TONGS. SUM is still suffering from the pain of losing LEUNG. ON do nothing but keep her company day in and day out. To make SUM feel better, ON decides to bribe the taxi driver who knocked LEUNG down. KAI wakes up suddenly and agrees to revise his will to offer KAM a half share of the family fortune on condition that his children and granddaughter are allowed to stay. KAM agrees to his request. KAI has a nice chat with his children, during which he has not mentioned a word about his will. KAI finally passes away without having his will revised, which irks KAM no end. ON has taken full control of the family finances, about which YAT is very unhappy. LEI tries to defend ON and gives YAT a good telling-off. ON responds that he will leave for South Africa and stay with LIT when the proceedings are over. SUM is a bit upset to hear that ON will be leaving Hong Kong soon. According to YAT, KAI had mixed up two traditional Chinese festivals and asked to have a bite of a mooncake during the Dragon Boat Festival. To satisfy KAI, YAT was left with no choice but to turn to the CHEUKS, who run a Chinese tea restaurant, for help. One of LAI’s family members testifies for YAT and emphasizes that what he says in his statement is absolutely true. SUM blames YAT and the CHEUKS for providing false statements. She goes on to point out that, according to the records provided by Hong Kong’s Immigration Department, YAT was in Australia for about ten days around the Dragon Boat Festival and that what he said in his previous statement is just a pack of lies.
