Melanie's parents' wedding anniversary prompts her to reminisce about her mother who died three years ago. Her feelings of loss are exacerbated when she is unable to communicate them to her father. When she discovers Grace, a homeless woman living in the school grounds, Melanie is drawn to her - subconsciously there is a hope that Grace will fill the void left by her mother.
