Invisible Journey - Season 1

1x1 - Episode 1

May 6, 2002

LAM LOK YEE teaches music at a primary school. One day on her way to work, she meets a man who feels seriously ill. She offers to send the man to the hospital and therefore fails to return home on time. Being so worried, her mother CHUN and her friend NIN go out to look for her. CHEUNG KA FAT sees a man bending over YEE and fears that she is going to be raped. YEE has found that the Putonghua supply teacher is FAT. CHUN blames her husband FAI for having neglected YEE, which has irked him a bit. CHUN remembers how YEE became blind when she was just a little girl. YEE finds that FAT is a manager of a food wholesaling company. FAT has applied for leave to take a break because he is not happy with his new boss, FUNG NAP YUN, who insists on cutting the staff. FAT goes to Peng Chau to chill out and YEE just shows him around……

FAT’s girlfriend CHING SZE MAN sees FAT and YEE together on the pier and gets so surprised. YEE hopes her leg injury can help patch up her parents’ relationship but she does not succeed. MAN asks FAT about his plan and suggests that he should not be too impetuous. FAI does not come home, which makes YEE very much worry. FAT advises YEE to act sick so as to get attention from her parents. CHUN sees YEE lying on the couch in the living room and feels so shocked. Meanwhile, NIN discloses that FAI is leaving Peng Chau. YEE blames NIN as she thinks he has not done his job well. FAT returns home with MAN. He knows his parents DUNG and FUNG are planning on moving to a bigger house and he therefore feels a bit troubled. MAN is going to dine with her godfather and invites FAT to go with her. Much to FAT’s surprise, MAN’s godfather is YUN. FAT and YUN have a ferocious verbal battle throughout the dinner……

YEE treats FAT to dinner, during which FAT meets SING, his friend and his colleague. FAT notices there is something wrong with SING. YUN needs SING to sell out of a pack of coffee that has been considered unsalable, within a week. This has vexed SING more than anything. FAT asks YUN to give SING one more month but is rejected. YEE knows the coffee problem has bothered FAT for a while. To help FAT out, she has thought of different ways of making coffee and has invited NIN to have a taste test. The result is however not at all encouraging. NIN’s words have given YEE some insight into how to improve the quality of the coffee. She even suggests providing a free trial offer of the coffee in local cafes and has got great feedback from the public. However, the packaging of the coffee is still a puzzling question to FAT. YEE’s words have given him some inspiration – he intends to relate the coffee to the twelve star signs……

1x4 - Episode 4

YEE is going to have a barbecue for celebration. To express thanks to NIN and FAT, she has prepared lots of food for them. FAT goes to MAN’s home straight after he has got a call from her. He does not know that MAN has held a celebration party for him. NIN supposes FAT is not coming but YEE believes that he will show up soon. In the early morning, a large number of customers queue up for the stars coffee, so NIN has to turn to YEE for help. FAT advises YEE to set up a coffee shop of her own in town and YEE seems to have some interest in it. But later she learns that her parents are also planning on setting up a cafe selling the stars coffee. She therefore gets a bit confused about what to do. YEE’s cousin HA KWAI FAN goes back to Peng Chau with her boyfriend to chill out. FAN tells YEE about the recent changes of Lan Kwai Fong, which has obsessed YEE a bit. FAT buys YEE a bicycle and urges her to ride it……

1x5 - Episode 5

May 10, 2002

YEE imagines flying above the urban centre. FAT’s attitude towards YUN has softened, which surprises SING a lot. YEE is so down when she finds that FAI has already paid the deposit on the shop. NIN do not take the chance to leave Peng Chau. YEE thinks he is too complacent. SING has got a commission illegally and YUN urges him to resign. FAT tries, but fails to intercede for SING. YUN has changed his mind and now decides to fire SING. SING is not entitled to get back his pension. He is thus so angry with FAT as he thinks FAT has not helped him much. FAT is of course outraged. A man called MR. TANG has tried the stars coffee and very much appreciates YEE’s talent. He invites YEE to join his cafe but is rejected. CHUN and FAI make a present of YEE’s bike to somebody, which infuriates YEE. Luckily she can get it back at last. NIN reveals to CHUN and FAI that YEE has been longing to leave for the town for better career development……

1x6 - Episode 6

May 13, 2002

NIN escorts YEE to FAN’s home. He is not happy with FAN’s home design as it may pose danger to YEE. FAT and YEE, on the other hand, find it fine. YEE goes to TANG’s cafe to work. NIN and FAT are worried about her and thus accompany her to her place of work without letting her know. NIN works at a French bakery. He claims that he has ample experience in making bread. His boss asks him to make Tiramisu, which has really messed his head up. NIN’s boss does not like NIN’s Tiramisu and has given him loads of negative comments. NIN finds it very insulting and YEE tries to give him encouragement. The next day, NIN decides to consult KOK for some professional advice. FAT recommends SING to MAN and SING is finally offered a post by her company. But MAN does not seem to be very kind to SING, thus making SING a little unhappy. TANG thinks highly of YEE. Her colleagues, BILL and WAH, are therefore very jealous of her……

1x7 - Episode 7

May 14, 2002

FAI and CHUN want to visit the cafe and YEE does not know what to do and how to deal with them. FAT and MAN go to see TANG and ask him to hire YEE for one more day. They threaten to make a complaint to Equal Opportunities Commission if he refuses to do so. YEE shows her parents around the cafe. After CHUN and FAI have left, BILL and WAH ask YEE to stay but YEE turns them down. YEE goes to meet MR. TIN, the person in charge of a centre for the blind. TIN offers to show her around. FAT recommends YEE to his company and YEE is later on offered the post of receptionist. FAT invites YEE to dinner at home. Meanwhile, MAN has come over with her dog Lucky. She can see YEE gets along well with FAT’s parents and is a little envious. FAT and YEE are trapped in a lift. YEE is scared by a cockroach and screams for help. FAT immediately holds her in his arms trying to calm her down……

May 15, 2002

YEE meets HO in the centre and mistakes him for a blind person. She then introduces HO to TIN. HO is in fact an ophthalmologist and, was FAT’s classmate. FUNG is mad about mah-jong, which annoys DUNG a lot. The couple quibble over this very often and YEE just tries to mediate between them. NIN reminds YEE not to become involved in a love triangle with FAT and MAN. FAN encourages NIN to woo YEE. HO asks YEE to feature in a promotional video along with FAT. He invites FAT to play YEE’s boyfriend in the video and FAT does not know how to turn him down. NIN buys YEE a little music box and asks her to give him a chance. HO has finished watching the video and finds YEE very cute and cheerful. FAT has a meeting with HO. He in fact wants to match HO up with his colleague SHAN. HO and FAT go to the centre to pay YEE a visit and SHAN offers to go with them. FAT is so surprised to see MAN there in the centre. He can see that MAN is a bit irked……

May 16, 2002

FAT, YEE and MAN hurry back home and find that FUNG, who has been a heavy gambler, is deeply in debt. FUNG is now too ashamed to see her family. SHAN suggests MAN should marry FAT and MAN wonders if it is a good idea. FAT points out that he has not yet had a successful career and he thinks that it is not the right time to get married. But MAN says she does not care if he has money or not and is always willing to stay with him and help him build a better business. YEE feels down when she knows FAT and MAN are marrying. SING is also upset by the news because he has been attracted to MAN for a long time. FUNG is perplexed because she does not have enough money for FAT’s wedding. She decides to go to Macau to gamble again. MAN sees FAT and YEE together, who are shopping around. She is very unhappy about that but FAT thinks that she is over-sensitive. FAN is dumped by her foreign boyfriend……

FAT offers resignation and YEE decides to quit the job as well. FAT feels a little upset. FAT and YEE cook and watch television together. Both of them can feel their burning affection for each other. YEE is about to receive the operation. Before she is sent to the operation theatre, she asks FAT to wait for her. YUN tells MAN that FAT and YEE have resigned. MAN gets so down. YEE opens her eyes and sees HO. She feels happy yet a bit disappointed. FAT is on his way to the hospital but is stopped by MAN. They have a severe quarrel, during which MAN gives him a shove towards the road. Meanwhile, a car is approaching and it hits FAT within a few seconds. MAN is astonished by the accident. YEE discovers that everything at home is different from what she has imagined and gets slightly unhappy. The doctor explains to MAN that FAT suffers concussion. MAN begs the doctor to try every possible way to rescue FAT……

1x12 - Episode 12

May 21, 2002

NIN and FAN pursue MAN but are discovered at the end. FAN even gets hurt in the confusion. SHAN suggests that MAN should make YEE give up on FAT before FAI regains consciousness. YEE has got an e-mail message from FAT, in which FAT sounds very indifferent to her. YEE feels heartbroken. FAT opens his eyes while MAN is singing him a song. The doctor points out that cerebral concussion has caused FAT problems with his articulation. MAN feels so worried about FAT’s health. YEE is nearly hit by a car when she is crossing the road. Luckily HO is there and he saves YEE just in time. SHAN has come to celebrate the opening of HO’s clinic. She can see that HO is very concerned about YEE and immediately flies into a fury. FAT limps along with a walking stick. All that he wants to do is to give YEE a call. But he just cannot tell YEE how he misses her as he cannot speak……

1x13 - Episode 13

May 22, 2002

The VCDs have turned NIN on. He gets sexually excited by the time FAN comes back. FAN takes NIN to a pub, where he can pick up girls. NIN is asked to play the drum on the stage. He does so and is given a clap. FAN feels proud of him and gives him a kiss. The next morning when he wakes up, NIN finds himself lying naked on FAN’s bed. He supposes he has had sex with FAN. FAT has caused a fire when he is cooking. He then has to put up at MAN’s place. FAT decides to send YEE an e-mail telling her about his situation. But he is not aware that his message has been altered by MAN before it is sent. YEE feels heartbroken when she gets the mail. MAN authorises SHAN to sign documents on behalf of her. SHAN is thrilled to pieces. MAN suggests FAT go to the States to receive medical treatment and to meet her parents. NIN meets MAN and FAT in the street. He guesses FAT has been cheating YEE. SING reveals that HO is already back to Hong Kong……

1x14 - Episode 14

May 23, 2002

HO wants to spend more time with YEE. He then invites YEE to work at his clinic, taking it as a chance to get near her. YEE calls FAT up. But since he cannot speak, he has not said a word, which has really let YEE down. NIN promises FAN that he will be responsible for what he has done and swears that he will be true to her. FAN thinks he is just so stupid. To win GAI’s trust, SHAN has betrayed MAN. HO goes to Peng Chau along with YEE. FAI and CHUN are very happy with him and give him a warm reception. FAN realises there is something wrong with NIN. NIN declares that FAN is his girlfriend, which makes FAN extremely furious. FAT discovers that MAN has been sending fake messages in his name. He is outraged and leaves MAN’s home immediately. FAT sees YEE and HO together, who seem to be very close to each other and sound like a couple. He gets upset and leaves silently……

1x15 - Episode 15

May 24, 2002

FAT is delivering food to a customer and on his way he meets YEE. YEE says it must be fate that draws them together. By then, all sorts of feelings well up in FAT’s mind. MAN comes to realise SHAN has deliberately planned to take over her role only after she gets aware that SHAN is to be in charge of a new project. A woman called IVY comes to visit HO together with her son BILLY. YEE mistakes BILLY for HO’s son and blames HO for his irresponsibility. NIN finds that he has already developed a passion for FAN. When he knows that FAN has been sent to the hospital, he is just so worried and cannot control himself, which has caused immense stress for FAN. FAN’s friends mock NIN saying that he is over-confident and that he has simply overrated his ability and his worth. NIN is offended and hurt by this. FAN finds that NIN has moved already when she is back home. She feels very upset. YEE and FAT are again trapped in the lift……

1x16 - Episode 16

May 27, 2002

The speech therapist explains that it may be only FAT’s imagination that makes him stutter when he speaks. YEE suggests that it may help if FAT can practice the Putonghua song that they used to sing together. MAN and SING discover that FAT can speak more clearly than before and are thrilled. FAN is on her way to the airport, during which she hears that the baker NIN works for is on fire. FAN is very much concerned about NIN’s safety and hurries to see him. NIN gets deeply touched by her care. YUN’s mistress WAI follows PING to HO’s clinic and urges PING to divorce YUN. YEE and HO help PING to move to a new place. YEE discovers that FAT knows of the walnut coffee which is invented by her. She finds FAT’s voice very familiar. MAN has bought a lot of shares for her clients and SING thinks that it is too risky. A great number of clients have made complaints against MAN……

May 28, 2002

FAT accompanies MAN to the place she works. MAN is very pleased with his thoughtfulness. The stock market goes up in a short time. MAN’s clients have therefore made big money from it. They all appreciate MAN’s talent and effort. MAN declares that she has already resigned because she knows she will no longer be trusted by GAI. She also implies that she is getting married but FAT dare not say a word about that. FAT knows that YEE is aware of his true identity. HO suggests FAT should give YEE a reasonable explanation. NIN, YEE and FAN go to watch an opera. NIN is eating his food greedily during the refreshment session. FAN thinks it is a reflection that NIN has no manners, which means a loss of face for her. YEE asks HO why he has to give up going to the States for better career development, and HO explains that he does it all for her. The cake designed by NIN has become very popular. FAN now refers to NIN as her boyfriend……

1x18 - Episode 18

May 29, 2002

FAT tells YEE that he is marrying MAN. YEE is therefore so disappointed. FAT proposes to MAN, which gives her a great surprise. SAM invites FAT back to Shing Cheong Company to work as its Marketing Manager. HO asks FAT why he has chosen MAN. He gives FAT a good telling off and points out that it is too unfair to YEE. FAT, nevertheless, encourages HO to woo YEE. YEE wants to be the sole agent for a Brazilian coffee. NIN goes to Shing Cheong Company to discuss whether there is room for cooperation on behalf of YEE but is rejected. FAT is looking for a residence near his parents’ home so that they can help MAN look after the baby. MAN is full of anxiety. YEE is so surprised to hear that MAN is expecting a baby. YUN blames FAT for helping YEE to bid for the contract. He thinks that it is not fair to other competitors. FAT, on the other hand, points out that forbidding YEE to take part in the open competition is not fair to YEE either……

1x19 - Episode 19

May 30, 2002

MAN is afraid that FAT will sooner or later find out that she is not pregnant. But she dare not tell him the truth because she does not want to lose him. NIN meets FAN and a Brazilian called BRIAN in the airport. BRIAN and FAN seem very close to each other, which makes NIN very envious. FAN, however, ignores him. BRIAN is in fact the representative of the Brazilian coffee. FAN has discovered BRIAN’s real identity and starts dating him. NIN invites FAN to dinner to celebrate his birthday. But in the middle of dinner, FAN gets a call from BRIAN and leaves straightaway. And not long later, NIN sees FAN and BRIAN together. He flies into a fury and gives BRIAN a punch. FAT and YEE have discovered the ways of improving the taste and the quality of the Brazilian coffee. YUN is not glad to see that YEE has won the contract. He knows there is some problem with the coffee but decides to conceal it……

May 31, 2002

YEE intends to close Dream Cafe and leave Hong Kong. NIN is shocked by her plan. FAN and NIN want to have a place of their own and are going to buy a house or flat for themselves. They have visited a number of houses and flats before they make a deal. But NIN is so fussy that he and FAN cannot reach a compromise. Dream Cafe opens again and NIN offers to invest in it. YEE is so surprised yet happy. FAN is shocked to hear that NIN has resigned and is going to invest in Dream Cafe. She complains that NIN has not spent much time with her. NIN and YEE go to the jewellery shop to pick up the wedding rings. Suddenly NIN receives a call telling him that FAN is injured. NIN then hurries to the hospital to visit FAN. When YEE arrives at the hospital, she sees FAN alone. She points out that FAN should not have suspected NIN. Meanwhile NIN appears. His head hurts and is swathed in bandages, which gives FAN a fright. NIN proposes to her again……

1x21 - Episode 21

June 3, 2002

FAT and YEE run Dream Cafe together. MAN is planning on setting up an investment company. To help her out, SING has even quit his job. MAN is thus very grateful to him. YEE has lost her sight for a few seconds. She is afraid that something unpleasant is going to happen. WAI owes a lot of money to banks and gangsters. YUN is then compelled to settle the debts for her. YUN, with PING’s picture in his hand, is going to kill himself. Luckily he is saved in time. When he wakes up, he finds he is in the hospital. PING tells him that she has forgiven him and is willing to stay with him. YUN gets deeply touched. YEE and FAT go shopping and cycling. Suddenly YEE loses her sight again. YEE has a check-up for her eyes and HO states that she may go blind again. FAT gets so down when he hears about that. YEE is learning to adapt to her disability in case she becomes blind again. FAT feels so sorry to see her suffer……
