His mother in a mental facility of some sort, and his best friend has an incurable disease which weakens his body. But Zed longs for freedom, and has been having strange dreams of a mysterious spirit, which leads him away from his hometown of Calm, and into another world.

Zed finds himself in the country of Tenpura, where he meets the sage Zico and his apprentice Roia. There, he learns about Shard Casters, and witnesses the strength of the Spirit that he's been seeing in his dreams.

Intent on learning more about his spirit and his own strength, Zed goes with Roia to see Dumas, a powerful Shard Caster, and the current Shard Champion to learn how to become stronger, and to control his strength. Zedd also meets Miki, Dumas' apprentice, and Robes, a local aristocrat who is also a Shard Caster.

Robes is sent to gaurd Zed because of a note that says that No-Face is planning to steal Zed's Spirit Shard. When Zed gets away from Robes but is caught by him moments later. Why they are talking No-Face appears and knocks out Zed and takes his Spirit Shard. Robes fights him but loses and is framed as No-Face. Now the city is under attack and Zed must face Dumas who is behind Zed's stolen Spirit Shard. Can Zed defeat his own Spirit with only a sword?

On their way to Neotopia they go off course and end up on Task. Can Zed get them outta of Tash alive?

Noah tells Zed he will have Roia treated at their best hospital but he asks that Zed meet with Hiram. What does Hiram want with Zed and what will happen to Roia?

As the Neotopian guards take Roia away Zed and Noah square off outside the room. Zed get's tired of fighting Noa and tackles him then runs by to go after Roia and the gaurds. After making sure Roia is alright Zed heads back to the Joust. Before he gets there he meets up with Noah and the two start arguing abot what makes a person strong. Now that Noah has defeated Zed he can advance to the next round. Since Robes didn't show up to fight Noah, Noah gets to go on to the next round and fight Raja, who defeated Herik to advance. As the fight goes on Noah knocks off Raja's mask to reveal that he is Hugh. With his identity revealed Hugh Summons his Key Spirit Puromino and Amil Gaul, whom he stole from Zed, after Noah summons Sachura. Resulting in the defeat of Noah. But when Hugh tries to take Sachura he falls writhing in pain as Amil Gaul falls out of Hugh. Meanwhile Zed is off to fight to get Roia back after Sagiri wakes him up telling him Roia is in trouble. Will Zed be able to save Roia without his spirit?

Zed and Roia get back from Neotopia and they wait the council's decision on what will happen to them because of what they did in Neotopia. Jiko shows up and tells the council he will go talk to Hiram. In Neotopia Jiko and Hiram talk and Jiko tries to persuade Hiram to let Zed and Roia go. Hiram refuses saying Zed needs to be controled. Meanwhile Herik and some other Ulbalkians watch from above. Can Jiko find a way to get Hiram to lift Zed's punishment? And what is Heirk and the other Ulbakians planning?

Later on Jiko tells Roia that she and Zed have nothing to worry about since he talked to Hiram about their punishment. When Roia finds Zed she arrives just in time to see Zed and 5 Neotopian soldiers Shard Shift away. What does Neotopia want with Zed?

Herik talks to Zed about joining the Ulbakians in fighting against Harim. Meanwhile Hiram sends Noah and Kiira out to find Zed and the Ulbakians and execute them. On the way the notice a large number of Beastmen flying overhead and Noah sends Kiira back to the city to warn everyone while he goes and deals with Zed and the Ulbakians. Meanwhile Roia tries to get the council to let her go after Zed, but they refuse. She then tries to go see Jiko but is told she cannot. Will Noah really kill Zed, has Jiimot and Task officialy declared war on Neotopia, and why has Jiko been imprisoned?

Since Amil Gaoul is defeating Sachira with ease, Jimu steps in and releases Pronimo and Monardi to make the battle go in the favor of Doruga. With no choice Zed releases Shadin. Becoming impatient Jimu begins to attack Zed while he fights Doruga(Noa). With Zed defeated Jimu takes his Key Spirits. Now with 4 of the Key spirits all Jimu has to do now is get Sachira from Doruga and find Mirette. Can Zed stop him?

The episode starts with Zed getting enveloped in Tusker's power; Tusker releases himself and uses Zed's body and spread his wings to reveal his true form. While Zed is inside the endless abyss in Tusker getting lectured about how humans are bad because they want power, all the spirits get released. In the end Tusker is defeated, spirits go back to where they came from, Zed tries to attack Amil Gaoul but ends up shifting and merging with Amil Gaoul and teleports to Calm where the city's wind has returned.
