1x1 - Episode 1

CHO CHO BAI-YUET and her daughter CHO CHING run a cosmetic business in Mo Tak Town, and their sales promotion wording motivates KAI CHUN, a man with scabies and acne all over his face, to buy their products. The young master of Sum Cho Vinegar, CHIN TUNG, brings along his personal maid SHAN CHA, who disguises herself as a guy, and goes to collect the debt from BOSS PO. While there, BOSS PO's wife bursts into tears and tells him that they were deceived by BAI-YUET and thereby lost fifty silver ingots. It turns out that BAI-YUET and her daughter are swindlers. CHO CHING encounters CHIN TUNG and falls in love with him at first sight; whereas BAI-YUET tries by all means to swindle money from CHIN TUNG. Although CHO CHING intends to find a proper job and settle down, BAI-YUET has no intention to settle down until she finds her husband, CHO TAI-KUNG……

BAI-YUET takes her daughter and goes to CHIN's home, reminding them that her daughter and their son were betrothed. While they are arguing with each other, OFFICER SUN CHING-YI shows up and puts BAI-YUET in jail on the allegation of murdering her husband. LORD CHIU rules that BAI-YUET is not guilty of murder, so CHO CHING asks CHIN TUNG to make offerings of willow branches on her behalf to redeem her vow to GUAN YIN. Seeing that SHAN CHA looks after CHIN TUNG really well, CHO CHING cannot help feeling jealous. CHO CHING coerces KAI CHUN to help bring her and CHIN TUNG together after catching KAI CHUN red-handed trying to pretend to be a ghost to scare people. Looking for an ideal wife for his son CHIN TUNG, CHIN CHONG is eager to find his son a suitable girl to get married so as to help prevent them from having bad luck……

OLD MADAM CHIN goes to the Miu Sum Nunnery to worship GUAN YIN, only to find out that the statue disappeared. According the fortune teller, the statue will appear again if OLD MADAM CHIN helps fulfill the wish of the one who is able to find the statue. CHO CHING manages to find the statue for OLD MADAM CHIN, who finally agrees to the marriage between CHO CHING and CHIN TUNG. KAI CHUN blames BAI-YUET for making him handsome as he has always been surrounded by girls since; whereas BAI-YUET devotes to her business so much that she even forgets to go with her daughter CHO CHING to pick up the wedding gown, so KAI CHUN goes with CHO CHING instead. CHAU LAW files suit against KAI CHUN as KAI CHUN claimed to have an affair with her on her wedding day resulting in her divorce, so LORD CHIU sentences KAI CHUN to a caning for twenty lashes……

The following morning after their wedding, CHIN TUNG and his wife CHO CHING serve tea to CHIN CHONG and CHIN SHEUNG, during which CHIN SHEUNG keeps talking about their household rules. CHO CHING and CHIN TUNG then go to the market where CHIN TUNG inadvertently hurts his hands on some pineapple skin. Suddenly, SHAN CHA jumps out, sucking the blood for CHIN TUNG. With CHIN TUNG showing up with red rashes on his face and sore throat the next day, CHIN SHEUNG blames CHO CHING for getting CHIN TUNG exposed to pineapples; whereas OLD MADAM CHIN orders SHAN CHA to follow CHIN TUNG closely to take care of him, fearing that CHO CHING is incapable of doing so. On top of that, she even punishes CHO CHING by sending her to their vinegar brewery to learn how to brew vinegar. The Shing Wong Temple became run-down over the years, so LORD CHIU appeals to his townsmen to donate money for repairs……

When CHO CHING goes to the Yat Lo Inn to talk to her mother and air her grievance, suddenly, CHIN SHEUNG arrives there too, and the two start picking a quarrel. At that moment, KAI SO indicates that CHIN SHEUNG has wrinkles and black eyes, suggesting that CHIN SHEUNG should try BAI-YUET's cosmetic skincare treatment. Mistaking the one who just sneaks in as BAI-YUET, CHIN SHEUNG completely freaks out after finding out the one turns out to be TAI-LONG instead of BAI-YUET. Above that, she vows to file a lawsuit against CHO CHING as the latter prevented her from chasing after TAI-LONG, which makes CHO CHING the accomplice. After the newly appointed LORD FU SAM-YAN convicts TAI-LONG, CHIN SHEUNG also wants SAM-YAN to punish CHO CHING. OLD MADAM CHIN gives CHIN SHEUNG a stern lecture, nonetheless, she refuses to accept CHO CHING's apology as she has to go to the court in person to deal with the issue due to what CHO CHING has done……

BAI-YUET suggests marrying off SHAN CHA, and she as well as CHO CHING and KAI SO all think that KAI CHUN would make a great husband for SHAN CHA. Naked CHIN CHONG proposes marriage to KAI SO in the bath house. In order to take revenge against CHIN CHONG for having sexually harassed KAI SO, KAI CHUN sneaks into the vinegar brewery in the late of the night to pee in a jar of vinegar. Gathering in front of the shop of Sum Cho Vinegar, a large group of customers complain that they experienced excessive vomiting and diarrhea after consuming their vinegar, so SUM-YAN takes CHIN CHONG into custody and closes down his shop. CHUN CHU and TSUI NGAU hear that someone hid treasure in the Shing Wong Temple. Noticing that three people are acting suspiciously, CHING-YI goes to stop and question them. To his surprise, he discovers a spell casting straw puppet with his name on it while raiding the temple……

CHO CHING proposes inviting KAI CHUN to go out and travel around so as to provide opportunities for him to accompany SHAN CHA. But CHIN TUNG frankly expresses that he is very reluctant to marry off SHAN CHA. SHAN CHA feels very upset after learning that CHIN TUNG is going to marry her off. BUTCHER WING is caught by KAI CHUN in the act of attempting to sexually harass a girl, who turns out to be SHAN CHA. With CHO CHING arranging SHAN CHA to have a dinner with KAI CHUN, BAI-YUET, who wants to bring KAI CHUN and SHAN CHA together, sends them wine with some aphrodisiac she added inside. CHUN CHU needs money to treat his grandmother's illness, so he steals MADAM CHONG's silver ingots and ends up being hunted down by the constables. KAI CHUN tells him to return the silver ingots to MADAM CHONG, which catches the eye of CHING-YI and YING MING. Pleading guilty to stealing, KAI CHUN is sentenced to a three-month jail term……

CHIN CHONG agrees to help KAI SO provided that KAI SO marries him, leaving KAI CHUN no other choice but to ask CHIN CHONG to arrange a formal wedding ceremony, and request SUM-YAN to release CHUN CHU. SHAN CHA wants to be tonsured to become a nun in the Miu Sum Nunnery, but OLD MADAM CHIN doesn't allow her to do so. On top of that, OLD MADAM CHIN even holds CHO CHING accountable for everything that just happened. Going to bathe in the bath house, CHO CHING notices that KAI CHUN is also in the male section, so she bursts into tears and complains that she has been suffering all kinds of hardships after she married CHIN TUNG. And the saddest part is that she feels that CHIN TUNG treats SHAN CHA better than he treats her. With OLD MADAM CHIN bestowing fine clothes on SHAN CHA, CHO CHING believes that OLD MADAM CHIN does this on purpose so as to humiliate her……

Apart from making a pitch for CHIN TUNG, KAI SO also reminds CHO CHING to give birth to a baby as soon as possible so as to secure her status in CHIN's family. Blaming KAI CHUN for not marrying SHAN CHA, CHO CHING cannot help crying out loud. Though KAI CHUN tries to comfort her, he is pushed away by CHIN TUNG. KAI SO reminds KAI CHUN to be cautious as to what he says and does in order to avoid a misunderstanding. CHO CHING relays to KAI CHUN that CHIN CHONG asked them to figure out a creative idea to celebrate OLD MADAM CHIN's birthday as it's around the corner, so KAI CHUN advises that all of the family members could put on a play for her. While KAI SO is checking the account book of the Yat Lo Inn, CHIN SHEUNG says something to interfere with her working……

All the servants in CHIN's family are gossiping about a woman who is in fact CHIN TUNG in disguise, which is overheard by OLD MADAM CHIN. OLD MADAM CHIN reprimands CHO CHING for having CHIN TUNG disguised as a woman, and according to her, CHO CHING's behavior has brought disgrace on her family. CHIN SHEUNG advises CHO CHING not to fight for the luminous pearl that is going to be given out by OLD MADAM CHIN, whereas CHO CHING, who wants to seize the opportunity to reverse the bad impression that OLD MADAM CHIN has on her, claims that she is determined to have the pearl. SHAN CHA buys a turtle as her gift for OLD MADAM CHIN, and CHO CHING helps feed the turtle when SHAN CHA goes to have a meal. On OLD MADAM CHIN's birthday, CHO CHING and CHIN TUNG find favor with OLD MADAM CHIN by making the "Eight Immortal Longevity Noodles". Unexpectedly, the turtle that was given by SHAN CHA is found dead……

Although BAI-YUET counter-argues there are still a few questionable points in the case, SUM-YAN finds her guilty of murder and sentences her to death, and the date of her execution will be in the autumn. By dressing well, TAI-KUNG checks into the Yat Lo Inn under a different name, SUEN WAN-HOK. When TAI-KUNG goes to bathe in the bath house, TSUI NGAU and CHUN CHU take the advantage to sneak into TAI-KUNG's room. Having noticed MR. SUEN, KAI CHUN endeavors to ascertain whether MR. SUEN is BAI-YUET's missing husband. TAI-KUNG shows the badge given by KAU CHIN SHUI, telling SUM-YAN to work for him in private. KAI CHUN learns that CHIN SHEUNG recognizes TAI-KUNG, so he goes to discuss with CHIN SHEUNG about the way to rescue BAI-YUET. However, through their analysis, KAI CHUN is convinced that TAI-KUNG has no intention to save his wife at all……

While the taoist is performing the ritual, KAI CHUN and the others arrive in the nick of time and successfully rescues TSUI NGAU. CHIN TUNG and SHAN CHA inform CHO CHING that BAI-YUET is going to be executed on that same night, so CHO CHING immediately dashes to the execution grounds. In the meantime, TSUI NGAU also leads TAI-KUNG to the execution grounds. Though making a personal appearance there, TAI-KUNG not only denies that he is BAI-YUET's missing husband, but also displays the badge given by KAU CHIN SHUI to order an immediate execution...... CHING-YI is dismissed by SUM-YAN for offending TAI-KUNG, above which he is shut out from his profession by SUM-YAN. Knowing that her elder brother CHIN CHONG is going to reject SHEUNG KWUN MAN, CHIN SHEUNG teaches SHEUNG KWUN MAN how to please her elder brother at first, and then tells him to go to her house to propose marriage to her……

After OLD MADAM CHIN agrees to their marriage, SUM-YAN promises that he is going to marry CHIN SHEUNG as his second wife, and treat her the same as his first wife. BIK-WAN not only books a room in the restaurant to treat CHING-YI to dinner, but also gives him some money. While declining her offer, CHING-YI inadvertently breaks the dishes, so BAI-YUET asks CHING-YI to stay in the Yat Lo Inn and work for her to pay for the damage. YING MING, who now works for TAI-KUNG, reveals that TAI-KUNG becomes a volunteer who teaches the kids in the Mountain Green Villa owned by SUM-YAN. It's said that he has already changed. With KAI CHUN asking YING MING for a favor to stage a fake rescue, YING MING reminds KAI CHUN that CHO CHING is CHIN TUNG's ex-wife. KAI CHUN suspects that TAI-KUNG is scheming to do something about the kids' penises, so he arranges the kids to leave from there……

YING MING, who has been taken advantage of by TAI-KUNG without realizing it, pours the aphrodisiac powder into a bathtub, rendering KAI CHUN blind. Seeing that CHIN TUNG fails to collect the debts, CHIN CHONG teaches him that, in order to run a successful business, he should do anything by hook or by crook, above which he even reveals how he tricked KAI SO into marrying him. CHIN SHEUNG finds her pair of jade earrings have gone missing and suspects that CHOI-TSZ stole them. Unexpectedly, CHOI-TSZ and SUM-YAN come up with a plot to frame PEI PA, who is thereby driven away by CHIN SHEUNG. TAI-KUNG instructs SUM-YAN to let CHIN SHEUNG take some Wushi powder so as to make her lose her mind……

TAI-KUNG tells his men to take some kids back to the capital to serve KAU CHIN SHUI. Having learned of this, YING MING releases the kids, and even informs KAI CHUN about what he just heard. SUM-YAN and CHOI-TSZ not only have someone add the Wushi powder in CHIN SHEUNG's food, but also purposely indicate that she suffers from a memory disorder. Because of their delay in delivering the tribute vinegar to the emperor, Sum Cho Vinegar is disqualified from sending tribute vinegar anymore. Ever since then, the business of Sum Cho Vinegar has taken a nosedive, resulting in economic hardship of CHIN's family, so CHIN CHONG and his son have to find new customers separately……
