Parents of the Band - S1 - E1
Phil Parker takes a huge interest in son Jack's band - much to Jack's dismay. Phil may be a cabinet-maker now, but no one can take his silver disc away from him. Phil is later unprepared for Granville and Eddie's parents, pompous lawyer Ashton, Carmen and Sandy being equally passionate about having a say in the future of the band. On the plus side for Phil, Eddie's mum, Sandy is very attractive and he wastes no time in asking her out. Concerned about how Jack is coping since he and Jack's mum, Marketa, separated, Phil decides a bit of quality father-and-son time will do the trick. When he hears Radiohead are playing locally, he asks his ex-roadie and work colleague, Kipper, if he can score some tickets. Kipper promises to sort it, but what Kipper says and what Kipper does are two entirely different things.

The band lands their first official gig playing at Adi's birthday party. But will they finally settle on a band name before the gig? The band decides to rehearse at Eddie's house, for a change. And, for Jack, it's a chance to be near Eddie's gorgeous big sister, Lucy - not that she would even notice him. Phil, Jack's dad, is a bit miffed at first but, on the plus side, he gets to flirt with Sandy. Phil asks Sandy (Eddie's mum) out for a drink, but is surprised to learn that she has been invited over to Ashton and Carmen's place for dinner. Phil is suspicious that he has not been invited, too - could they be having a meeting about the band without him? Meanwhile, Jack is horrified when his dad tells him he loves him, twice, in the space of 24 hours, especially as he's not sure what has prompted it. Maybe he banged his head? Elsewhere, rehearsals at Eddie's turn out to be a bit more eventful than expected when some local hoodies appear on the doorstep. Luckily for the band, the hoodies' appearance coincides with the impromptu arrival of Phil and Ashton, and Phil immediately sends the hoodies packing. At the birthday party, Adi is ecstatic that the audience is full of girls. The gig goes well until the hoodies from earlier show up - it seems they saw the invite on the internet. Will Phil's heroics backfire?

Jack, Granville and Eddie are on work experience. Their parents want to 'keep an eye on them' during their work experience, so they are all working with each other's parents. Jack is at the law firm run by Granville's dad, Ashton. Phil, however, is appalled by the idea of raising a lawyer in his own home. He thinks Jack should concentrate on being a rock star instead. Granville is overjoyed at the prospect of his placement at Sandy's salon, where he is convinced there will be lots of 'fine ladies'. And Eddie will be working with Phil, who plans for him to make his own guitar. Phil is hoping for another date with Sandy, so sending Eddie home with his fingers intact is probably a pre-requisite. Later, Phil is horrified to find a packet of cigarettes in Jack's room. He confronts his son and makes a deal - if Jack packs in the cigarettes, he'll pack in his coffee. Unsurprisingly, Phil finds that cranberry juice just isn't the same as a good, strong coffee, and it's not long before his caffeine withdrawal starts to take effect...

Phil is in a good mood when he receives a royalty check for his Eighties hit. It may be only for £72.50 but, hey, it's a night out. All being well it should be a night out with Sandy... Jack, meanwhile, is smitten when he meets Inge, a girl from Denmark, in the park. When Jack learns that Inge sings, he is convinced she would be a great addition to the band, but Granville and Eddie aren't so keen - Adi is already their lead singer and they don't want to stab him in the back. Phil is especially concerned at the prospect. As far as he is concerned, having a woman in a band only leads to strife and heartache, and that's the last thing he wants for Jack. However, when Phil sees how hard Jack has fallen for Inge, he decides it wouldn't hurt to at least have some rehearsals with her. When Sandy, Ashton and Carmen learn that Phil has made a decision about the band without them, it doesn't go down well. But when Phil plays them the track he's recorded with Inge and the band, they see that maybe he was right after all. And, luckily for Phil, this also means that his date with Sandy is still on. But how will Adi and his father, Daneesh, take the news?
