To commemorate the massive changes to the British landscape since the first motorway was opened 50 years ago, actor and comedian Robbie Coltrane travels the length and breadth of Britain in a car of the period, sticking only to the B-roads around in that bygone age. The first leg of his epic journey takes him from London to the village of Hallaton in Leicestershire.

On the final leg of his epic road trip, Robbie visits the Lake District and Northumbria, then continues on to Dumfries and Galloway, before finally reaching his home city of Glasgow. En route he encounters devotees of Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, stops off at Lake Windermere to meet Donald Campbell's daughter Gina and visits England's strangest listed building - a pigeon loft.
