To the stockholders, He announces that all of the members of the board will resign as of this day, and the company will be turned over to the young staff. After the meeting, Kintaro tries to get Yamato to go to the hospital, but he refuses and goes to his office instead...

Kintaro, Ryuta and Masumi visit Kintaro's mother's grave. There, they run into Kintaro's father, who had vanished years ago after being released from prison. Soon, Kintaro becomes the father of a baby girl. He is overjoyed, but when he goes to work, he discovers there's a new company president, and he has received a promotion!

Kintaro finds out that Tonichi Construction had cut corners in the construction of a hotel built before the merger with Yamato. Now, Yamato must take the responsibility for making any required corrections. Kintaro is fired when he insists on taking an inspection team in.

The decision is made for Yamato to make the necessary corrections to the hotel structure. Kintaro works on the site as a laborer. Yamato stock values drop. One day Kintaro receives the shocking news that President Maruyama has committed suicide.

Maruyama has left a note strongly recommending Yajima Kintaro be promoted to president of Yamato! Meanwhile, Masumi discovers that Kintaro has been visiting Fuyumi at her bar, and she walks out on him.

Ryunosuke informs Kintaro that the late president, Maruyama, had recommended him for the next president and he awaits Kintaro's decision. Finally home, Kintaro cautiously enters the door and receives an enthusiastic welcome from Ryuta.

Masumi leaves home again, and this time, she asks Fuyumi to look after Kintaro! Kintaro is perplexed, but Ryuta loves his new friend. One day, Kintaro gets a visit from Osuga, who offers to help Yamato in their bid to get proper permits for a big new project.

Masumi returns home and their peaceful family life returns. Meanwhile, Osuga begins his attack on the credibility of Yamato after a man claiming to have killed the chairman of Hirao Construction surrenders to the police.

After Yamato makes an announcement that it is cutting all ties with yakuza and politicians, its site office is attacked. Yamato is now completely isolated and Takatsukasa's Aqualine project is their last hope.

Yamato's shareholders' meeting will be held soon. While checking out the site, Kintaro gets shot at by someone. Meanwhile, Takatsukasa notices that the residents opposed to the Aqualine project seem to have grown nastier.

Kintaro falls into a great depression after the death of his friend and mentor, Ryunosuke Yamato. Meanwhile, his life is being threatened by hired killer, Otake, but Kintaro's father, Teruo, thwarts the killers attempt on his life. Then, newly promoted president Takatsukasa receives a letter of resignation from Kintaro. One day, Kayo brings Kintaro a letter written by the late CEO.
