1x1 - Episode 1

January 13, 1992

YEUNG KUO HAI has to help his mother LAI HAN to clean the pig farm every morning. This causes him to be late for class. Due to being often scolded by teachers together with his poor family background, he is expelled by most of his classmates. LAI HAN's father is originally a big landlord and she lives leisurely since birth. After liberation, she is arranged to work in a pig farm near the countryside of Guangdong. As she cannot tolerate the hard life, she keeps on recalling her past luxurious lifestyle. LAI HAN often persuades her husband SHU KEN to apply to move to Hong Kong. She even wants to corrupt the officials so that they could have the chance to move to Hong Kong but is finally in vain. SHU KEN's point of view on this is very different from HAN and he concurs to work obediently in China.… ...

January 14, 1992

SHU KEN follows one lorry driver to reach the Seven Best restaurant in Sheung Wan unintentionally. He feels so hungry that he eats the food waste in a barrel. Auntie CHEUNG sees this and instructs him to clean the dishes for compensation. When he is washing dishes, he faints due to over-exhausted. Uncle SEVEN rescues him and also arranges him to work in the restaurant. This provides SHU KEN a stable living. SHU KEN follows Uncle SEVEN to go to KAN's house to help decorating a gathering. When he sees WAI CHUNG playing piano, he recalls the scene of LAI HAN teaching in the primary school. He again feels very sad about the fate of his family. WAI HO strongly persuades CHUNG's father to redevelop the restaturant building. CHUNG's father refuses this proposal for he does not want to give up his many years of endeavours.… ...

January 15, 1992

CHUNG's father notices that WAI CHUNG has not backed for the whole night. When he sees her and SHU KEN together in the morning, he misunderstands that they have some subtle relationship. After CHUNG's explanation and also due to his trust for SHU KEN's frankliness, he believes that they are unspotted. SHU KEN is troubled by his colleagues' rumour and understands that it will ruin CHUNG's reputation. He arranges to meet her and requests her to ask her father to break the rumour in public. But WAI HO just passes by and presumes that KEN wants to steal his love. He becomes very angry and gives SHU KEN a strong hit. WAI CHUNG takes care of SHU KEN's wounds. With extremely bad mood, they comfort and fall in love with each other. CHUNG's father being old and weak realizes their love affairs and suddenly initiates to marry CHUNG to KEN.… ...

1x4 - Episode 4

January 16, 1992

When LAI HAN arrives at the hospital, she sees WAI CHUNG has borne a baby for SHU KEN. She runs away hopelessly and cries. LAI HAN feels so regret of the past act of smuggling which breaks their family. With sorrow and shame, she goes back to Guangdong with KUO HAI. CHUN CHUEN who his mother with his son, KEI PO, and the family of four has a very happy gathering. When SHU KEN knows that LAI HAN and their son are still alive, he feels very ashamed. He wants to confess but does not have any news about them. He cannot face himself. WAI CHUNG understands and forgives him. This makes him feel more ashamed. During the three years time, SHU KEN keeps on searching for LAI HAN and their son through different channels but not successful. He feels very regretful. CHUN CHUEN has long been without a stable job. He does not give family expenses to MEI OI regularly and she has to borrow a lot of money from the neighbouring stores.… ...

January 17, 1992

In order to raise the standard of catering services, the hotel has planned to send a group of staff to Hong Kong for training. KUO HAI is being selected but is jealous by others. KUO HAI's girlfriend YUEN LEE understands his situation. She encourages him to hauedo his own way and disregards others' scandals. KUO HAI goes to Hong Kong for the first time and is not influenced by the capitalized wonderful world. In contrast, due to his hardworking and willingness to learn, he is greatly appreciate by his supervisor. KUO HAI goes to find LAI YIN but cannot find him. In fact, LAI YIN indulges in gambling and becomes very poor. Also he is illtreated and being looked down upon by YEE, he has no motivation for work. After several years of tough business, SHU KEN expands his business from Seven Best to several more restaurants and becomes very famous in the restaurant business.… ...

January 20, 1992

MAN HAI knows very well that WENDY does not love him with the whole heart and only treats him as part-time lover. He does not want to be WENDY's plaything, so he makes fool of her. KUO HAI meets MAN HAI and CHUK NAM who have met once in Guangdong, they become good friends. But MAN and KUO still do not know that both are actually brothers from the same father and different mother. KUO and MAN are waiting in the taxi-stand and it so happens that AH WUN is also in a hurry. She lies to KUO HAI so as to get KUO's turn for the taxi. Being attracted by her beauty, he believes her and lets her get the taxi first. Due to poverty, LAI YIN often immitates LAI HAN's handwriting to cheat money from SHU KEN but is finally discovered. SHU KEN refuses to give him money anymore and this makes him feel very angry. Seeing her old-lover KIN KWOK closely entice the married woman EMILY, PO SHAN speaks ill of KIN KWOK intentionally.… ...

January 21, 1992

CHUN CHUEN is a speculator. He comes across lots of failure and often in debt for high interest loan. Poor KEI LOO has to do three or four part-time jobs to pay for his debt. CHUN CHUEN knows that he troubles KEI LOO a lot but due to his handicapped leg, he has no motivation for work. In fact, twenty years ago, CHUN CHUEN who does not want CHUK KEI to seize his wife and daughter, therefore, he has smuggled into Hong Kong aiming to get back KEI LOO. His legs are hurt by CHUK KEI during a fight and he later becomes handicapped. This intensifies his hatred for CHUK KEI and MEI OI. When KIN KWOK gets back to Taiwan, he keeps on searching for a suitable girl and would give her high pay for having 'false' marriage with him.… ...

January 22, 1992

SHU KEN reaches KUO's home and sees LAI HAN. He has complex feeling in his heart and he wants to disclose their relationship. But LAI HAN still hates KEN very much, she suppresses her emotion in front of KUO HAI and treats SHU KEN as a stranger. SHU KEN does not disclose the truth either after seeing her reaction. SHU KEN takes a chance to arrange a meeting with LAI HAN alone and explains to her that his re-marriage is due to his belief of LAI YIN's saying that they are dead. However, LAI HAN does not accept his explanation and insists on the belief that he abandons her because of money. SHU KEN wants to compensate for LAI HAN and their son. He uses YOR CHUN's name to buy them a new flat. But this is discovered by LAI HAN and she refuses to accept this. When KUO HAI knows that SHU KEN buys them a flat in secret, he is suspicious of his identity and asks his mother about this. LAI HAN tells him that SHU KEN is his father.… ...

January 23, 1992

MAN HAI hopes to make use of the close working relationship of PO SHAN with the Mainland officials so as to let KUO HAI to work in Hong Kong. But PO SHAN does not want to help SHU KEN and so refuses to act as referee. AH WUN insults MAN HAI in public due to little quarrel. This makes him lose face and cherish hatred. So he makes a trick to fool AH WUN but is fooled by her instead. WAI CHUNG meets MEI OI again. Just when they are recalling the event they gave birth to their babies at the same day, MAN HAI and AH WUN appear. WAI CHUNG presumes AH WUN is KEI LOO and this embarasses MEI OI. It seems to AH WUN that there must be some secret after she has listened to the conversation between CHUNG and OI. So she asks CHUK KEI about this, he tells her the story frankly. She now understands that MEI OI feels very upset for missing KEI LOO during the past years.… ...

January 24, 1992

When KUO HAI sees SHU KEN, he clearly remembers his mother's hatred to SHU KEN and this strongly obstructs his impression on SHU KEN. In contrast, SHU KEN has long been wishing to compensate for KUO HAI, so he makes a lot of compromises to him in every aspect but this is hard to be accepted by KUO HAI in such a short time. MAN HAI has a frank character and he treats KUO HAI as his brother. He often takes care of KUO and their brother's love grows very quickly. MAN HAI brings KUO HAI to meet some friends. However, due to the difference in academic and living standard, KUO is often joked by others and this makes him feel very unhappy. KUO HAI often gets along with MAN HAI and feels that MAN has a lot of talents. Gradually, he becomes more self-abased. SHU KEN brings KUO HAI along to go and look around the business.… ...

KIN KWOK, resorting his in-name relation with LOO, wants to rape her. Due to self-defence, she hurts him. At the same time, PO SHAN goes to the police station to accuse KIN KWOK for blackmail and urges the police, to arrest him in the hotel. Due to insufficient evidence, PO SHAN fails to accuse KIN KWOK. Being very conceited, he accuses KEI LOO for intenting to hurt him instead. She feels helpless and disclose her relationship of `false' marriage with KIN KWOK in public. This makes him lose face before PO SHAN. KEI LOO, being afraid of attack by KIN KWOK, does not dare to go back to the hotel and wanders around in the street for the whole night. For the next day, she thinks KIN KWOK has been out and goes to get back her passport in the hotel. However, KIN KWOK aims at LOO and has plot a trap for her. He is determined to have her. KEI LOO struggles hard with KIN KWOK and she finally manages to escape away.… ...

January 28, 1992

SAI KIT pursues PO SHAN for many years and has requested to marry her for many times but has all been rejected by her. Once PO SHAN has to ask for his help, she promises to marry him. MEI OI's friend comes from Tai Wan and MEI OI asks her about the status of CHUN CHUEN and their daughter. After she knows that CHUN CHUEN lives in poverty with KEI LOO, she feels very sad. KUO HAI cannot understand the orders from customers who speaks in English, KUO HAI has made a lot of mistakes and is being complained. This motivates him to improve his English. MAN HAI brings KUO HAI to attend a barbecue organized by his schoolmates. He meets AH WUN and they become opponents again. KEI NAM and KUO HAI want to settle their dispute. AH WUN finds KUO HAI very mature and develops friendly relationship with him. CHUN CHUEN has nothing to do and is notorious for often cheating his neighbours.… ...

January 29, 1992

KUO HAI knows that SHU KEN has forgotten to bring his pills and so he brings it to the wedding scene to SHU KEN immediately. Due to his poor dressing, PO SHAN mistakenly treats him as cheats and requests to check his identity. This greatly hurts KUO's dignity. MAN HAI feels very annoying about what PO SHAN has just done. MAN HAI uses KUO HAI's name to arrange a meeting with AH WUN aiming to fool her. It happens that there is a fight in their meeting place. KUO HAI rushes to the scene as he fears that AH WUN might get hurt. However, he has got into a traffic accident and is being sent to the hospital. AH WUN feels regretful after she realizes KUO HAI is hurt for her, she goes to see him immediately. MAN HAI exaggerates that KUO HAI has been seriously wounded. This makes AH WUN feel even more sorry. AH WUN goes to the hospital to see KUO HAI the next day and feels relieved when she finds him in very good condition.… ...

January 30, 1992

KEI NAM feels that KEI LOO is lonely and persuades her to reunite with MEI OI. As KEI LOO has been influenced by CHUN CHUEN since birth and has deep hatred to MEI OI, she refuses to go home with KEI NAM. KEI NAM brings MEI OI to see KEI LOO but she refuses to see her mother and this breaks MEI OI's heart. The debtor thinks that CHUN CHUEN has died and so they force KEI LOO to pay the debt for him. She has to find a stable job to get the money and she once goes to find a job in PO SHAN's company unintentionally. After seeing KEI LOO, PO SHAN feels sympathetic to her and initiates to lend her money. As KEI LOO likes her, she accepts PO SHAN's help. MEI OI worries that KEI LOO will be troubled by the debtors. She sells a new taxi and lends her the money.… ...

1x15 - Episode 15

January 31, 1992

KEI NAM feels very dissatisfied after knowing that AH WUN criticizes KEI LOO in public. This makes AH WUN lose her temper before her parents. Being dissatisifed MAN HAI who has left her alone in the peak last time and has accompanied KEI LOO to see the doctor. AH WUN feels annoying. He obviously knows her jealous feeling and so he tries to cheer her up. Finally he gets her love with fast progress in their love affairs. KUO HAI decides to reorganize the Seven Best restaurant but SHU KEN is afraid that the employee will have a misunderstanding of the shut-down of business. KUO HAI suggests that SHU KEN should make use of the chance of holding the birthday party in Seven Best to redecorate the restaurant. SHU KEN greatly appraises KUO's idea. Being worried about KEI LOO, MEI OI often follows her. Although KEI LOO realizes this, she still treats her as a stranger.

1x16 - Episode 16

February 3, 1992

AH WUN hires a taxi which has been delegated to KEI LOO only for return by uncle MING. She misunderstands LOO refuses to service her intentionally, she shouts and alarms the police. KEI LOO drives her without choice but is still troubled by her on the way. KEI LOO drives AH WUN to the New Territories but the taxi has got into trouble. She requests AH WUN to help pushing the taxi but she refuses and she phones to get help from MAN HAI instead. After a short while, KEI LOO has successfully repaired the taxi but AH WUN refuses to get into her taxi. She rather stays there to wait for MAN HAI but he doesn't appear after her lonely long waiting. KEI LOO's taxi gets into trouble again but she meets MAN HAI luckily this time. They repair the taxi co-operatively. But MAN HAI faints due to over-exhausted. KEI LOO does the artificial repiration for him but is seen by AH WUN from far away.… ...

1x17 - Episode 17

February 4, 1992

SHU KEN ships a refrigerator to LAI HAN. She first misunderstands that KUO HAI has become rich and buys her this present. After he realizes that this is bought by SHU KEN, she feels so disappointed that she gives this to YOR CHUN immediately. KOO KEUNG goes to the hotel to show off before YUEN LEE. YUEN SUN feels annoying that he delegates somebody to hit him. KOO KEUNG is so angry that he swears to disclose the smuggling event of YUEN LEE. Seeing SHU KEN and KUO HAI reunite and manage the business together, LAI YIN wants to maintain close relationship with them so as to get benefits. But SHU KEN has already a very poor impression on him. PO SHAN expands her business to Taiwan market. As KEI LOO has deep knowledge on the taste of Taiwanese, she helps PO SHAN a lot and has become her right hand man. KEI LOO, being too exhausted for her work, is sick and has to receive prolonged treatment.… ...

February 5, 1992

KEI LOO has fainted for several days. After she wakes up, she feels astonishing that she is in CHUK's house. She goes away immediately though being still sick. She meets MAN HAI and CHUK KEI in downstairs. MAN and CHUK scold her for being too stubborn. Although KEI LOO knows about their concern, she does not want to go back to CHUK's house again. After MEI OI is back home and finds KEI LOO has already gone away, she feels extremely sad and hopes she will come back later. The endeavours of KUO HAI contributes a lot to the business of YEUNG's conglomerate and this cheers SHU KEN up. He decides to promote KUO HAI to be the general manager and KUO HAI feels very excited. LAI HAN visits KUO HAI in Hong Kong suddenly. After she has seen KUO HAI being very intimate with SHU KEN and WAI CHUNG, she is so angry that she refuses to live in YEUNG's house.… ...

February 6, 1992

As LAI HAN has drunk some wine during the dinner and has felt sick, WAI CHUNG initiates to stay with her in the hotel. She wants to take this opportunity to explain to her about the regret of SHU KEN and hopes to get her forgiveness. But LAI HAN has already deep hatred for them and requests her to go away. WAI CHUNG feels disappointed. Also she is afraid that SHU KEN will feel more regretful after he has realized LAI HAN's reaction, she doesn't go home and rather spends the night in the hotel lobby. LAI HAN misunderstands WAI CHUNG pretends to be broad-minded and magnanimous before SHU KEN, she often says some unpleasant words before WAI CHUNG but WAI CHUNG tolerates her. Knowing WAI CHUNG's character well, KUO HAI explains to LAI HAN but she refuses to listen to him as she has already deep misunderstanding with CHUNG. AH WUN accepts MAN HAI's advice that she decides to reconcile with KEI LOO.… ...

LAI HAN worries that SHU KEN will get KUO HAI away from her, she does not want him to be too close to his father. So she arranges a high position for KUO HAI in a Mainland restaurant through special channel, she has requested him to go back to China. KUO HAI faces a dilemma. On the day that LAI HAN leaves Hong Kong, KUO HAI accompanies her to the railway station. He pretends to lose his certification and requests her to go back to China first. She knows that he doesn't want to go back and she goes away alone with anger and sorrow. Knowing that this will break his mother's heart, KUO HAI feels very sorry. LAI YIN thinks that he can make use of the chance of LAI HAN's stay in Hong Kong to get some benefits. But as LAI HAN leaves without acknowledging him, he feels very disappointed and being very angry with KUO HAI. PO SHAN has an overseas trip. She claims to have urgent matter and requests KEI LOO to stay in her house to standby.… ...

As MAN HAI's car has been damaged, AH WUN thinks that he has been hurt and so she goes to find him in various hospitals. But actually, he has gone to other place. Being teased by MAN as over-worried, she goes away with anger. Though he knows AH WUN's concern for him, he is unwilling to appologize for being too self-respect. As a result, they have a deadlock in their love affairs. KUO HAI services the members of a Kwongzhou Representative Committee in Ah Yuen Restaurant. They all appraises KUO's management skills and they also propose the possibility of cooperation. Foreseeing the penetration into the China market, SHU KEN greatly agrees with the proposal. AH WUN has a trip in Kwongzhou and meets KUO HAI having a business meeting there. They have an intimate conversation. Being too concentrated in his work, KUO HAI does not intend to visit YUEN LEE and his mother.… ...

February 11, 1992

Seeing KUO HAI and YUEN LEE become more distant away, MAN HAI creates a chance for them to get close together intentionally. However, KUO HAI feels that their different living style is a great barrier in their relationship. MAN HAI requests AH WUN to go back to Hong Kong first where he will stay behind to partner with KUO HAI in attending the business meeting. Due to MAN's carelessness in driving, they once have come across a traffic accident. Both have been fainted. When KUO HAI awakes in the scene, MAN HAI is still fainted. In order to escape from danger, KUO HAI intends to drive the car to a safer place with the help of a pedestrian. However, he wrongly pushes the handbrake and knocks the pedestrian down to death. KUO has been so nervous that he faints again. When KUO HAI and MAN HAI awake, they are both in the hospital. KUO HAI is more seriously hurt than MAN HAI. MAN HAI informs LAI HAN and requests her to take care of KUO.… ...

February 12, 1992

MAN's family members rush to see MAN after being informed. As he has been in detention custody, no visiting is allowed. WAI CHUNG begs LAI HAN to request the help of the officials in withdrawing the charge on MAN HAI. However, she has no way to arrange this. LAI HAN has managed to arrange WAI CHUNG to see MAN HAI. Seeing her lovely son's poor status, she feels very sad and comforts him for having invited a lawyer to fight for minimizing the charge on him. Seeing that LAI HAN becomes friendly to WAI CHUNG due to the misfortune, SHU KEN intends to take this chance to request her to reunite with him. But HAN refuses to talk about this any further as claiming that everyone is in a bad mood. As YUEN SUN and KUO HAI have got into conflict, SUN has hatred for KUO. After he realizes that KUO HAI has been involved in knocking down the dead, he blackmails him.… ...

February 13, 1992

MAN HAI has become the scapegoat of KUO HAI. KUO is so selfish that he intends to hide the truth forever. AH WUN is very sad for the imprisonment of MAN HAI. Fortunately with the comforts of KEI LOO, she can suppress her bad emotion gradually. Their sister love grows tremendously. With much regrets for MAN HAI, KUO HAI takes great care of SHU KEN and WAI CHUNG for him. WAI CHUNG often cries for the whole day long. LAI HAN is very sympathetic and comforts her. Due to this, their misunderstanding has been resolved finally. When PO SHAN comes back to Hong Kong and realizes the imprisonment of MAN HAI, she blames KUO HAI for not giving MAN help. She also claims to find out the responsibility and this scares KUO HAI. KIT's sister goes to discuss with PO SHAN about the inheritance of SAI KIT. Knowing PO SHAN's husband has died, KEI LOO appreciates her a lot for her extreme calmness.

1x25 - Episode 25

February 14, 1992

MAN HAI thinks that his family will keep on seeking the legal advice for withdrawing his charge. But after realizing that WAI CHUNG and others have actually no way to change anything, he is very disappointed and feels being given up by his family. In the prison camp, MAN HAI is often punished by the officials with different means for not recognizing his fault. He finally listens to his room-mate AH FEI's advice and accepts the irrational rules in the prison camp. As MAN HAI has to receive disciplinary training and insults from other prisoners, he begins to treasure everything in the past. He has become to be more hardworking and honest. He is no longer the playboy of the old days. Under the pressure of SAI KIT's family, PO SHAN feels very tough for taking up SAI KIT's position.… ...

February 17, 1992

Hai does not want his family worrying for him after seeing his haggard appearance, MAN HAI refuses their visit. He only allows AH WUN to visit him. However, AH WUN has been sick and fainted. So KEI LOO visits him instead. As he doesn't want to implicate AH WUN anymore, MAN HAI requests KEI LOO to advise AH WUN to forget him. However, as she doesn't want to irritate AH WUN, she keeps silence for this. Fei observes that MAN HAI is becoming more depressed day after day, he then encourages Hai and advises him to express his feelings in the letters to his family. With FEI's encouragement, he manages to lift up his spirit. After PO SHAN discovers the unexpected huge loss in SAI KIT's business, she is so suspicious that she decides to find out the reason. KEI LOO meets MEI OI in the street where OI has just hurt her legs. KEI LOO finds that OI is very painful and brings her to see the doctor.… ...

February 18, 1992

As AH WUN miss MAN HAI very much, she goes to visit him to Guangzhou, she feels very sad after finding him having changed a lot. In order to get close to her, KUO HAI comforts her and gives her great concern. After YUEN LEE knows her pregnancy, she tells KUO HAI about this happily. However, KUO HAI requests her to do the aborption with the excuse of not having a firm foundation in career. YUEN LEE faces a dilemma. KUO HAI accompanies YUEN LEE to do the aborption with persuasion and force. However, at the last moment, YUEN LEE has given up to do the aborption and goes away with cries. KUO HAI misunderstands that she is sad due to the loss of their baby, he feels rather relieved. Knowing that KUO HAI has become rich in Hong Kong, YUEN SUN blackmails him again. Hai afraids that Sun will disclose his crime, he kills Sun under great panic. After this, KUO HAI feels that he can control his fate.… ...

As KUO HAI has grasped the weaknesses in AH WUN's emotion, he knows how to cheer her and manages to make her fall in love with him. KEI LOO observes this and advises AH WUN to be cautious of KUO HAI. But AH WUN teases her to be over-worrying instead. KUO HAI tries to flatter PO SHAN intending to get advantage from her. But PO SHAN doesn't accept him and treats him with indifference. TAI YEUNG decides to stay in Hong Kong hoping to have more chances to get along with KEI LOO. However, she treats him as her brother only. Realizing that KIN KWOK is KING-FAI's assistant, KUO HAI makes friend with him and they take advantages from each other. As FAI's ex-wife is angry of being abandoned, she often appears destructively whenever FAI has a close girl-friend by his side. This creates a lot of psychological pressure on FAI. He tells his grievance to PO SHAN.… ...

February 20, 1992

At first, SHU KEN is dissatisfied with KUO HAI of not informing him about the investment in the yacht business. But after he finds KUO being so confident, he can no longer objects. PO SHAN is cautious of KUO HAI and does not want to cooperate with him. However, as KING FAI highly appreciates KUO's capability, she has to respect his opinion. KUO HAI intends to celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival with his family. When SHU KEN and others remember this day being MAN HAI's birthday, they are all in very bad mood and do not want to celebrate. KUO HAI feels disappointed. On the other hand, MAN HAI has a fever in his birthday. He has a sudden home-sickness and decides to ask his family to visit him. WAI CHUNG and SHU KEN are very excited and impressed for being able to see their son soon. As KUO HAI knows that KIN KWOK looks down upon him, he bears this in heart.… ...

February 21, 1992

In order to get advantages from KING FAI, KUO HAI often flatters him with over-humble attitude. PO SHAN feels shamed on his behaviour and often ridicules him. As KUO HAI courts AH WUN with various means, she intends to hide herself up. But KUO HAI knows how to toady MEI OI and her family, AH WUN has to get along with him without alternative. After YOR CHUN knows that YUEN LEE has already gone to Shanghai, he tells KUO HAI immediately.
