It turns out though that Lauren is not dieing, but she does live in Colorado. In the end, Pete is glad that he's been dumped by Lauren because it made him forget about Melissa which means he's ready to start dating again.

Berg throws 24 year-old Pete a fake 30th birthday party so he can meet a woman he's had a thing for years. Meanwhile, Sharon awaits a call back from a guy she really likes, unaware that he already has.
