Pete Cornelius the 19-year-old son of a wealthy businessman is on his way to college for his first year's studies but when he stops off in New Orleans on the way to the school Pete becomes fascinated with the city. He also becomes interested in a nightclub vocalist, Lou Jansen and decides against catching his train for the University. His disappearance causes his father to send out a nationwide alarm and offers reward for his son's return. When this is announced Lou plays a different part in his life than he had anticipated.

It isn't until the evening is over that she realizes there has been something strange about the place and about Buster. Her thoughts return to the party in the bombed building and she dreads all the future bombing that will come, until Menton convinces her that he knows that she has nothing to worry about in the future.
