Being guest at Kerstin Riek in Ostwürttemberg

A life in nature makes Kerstin Riek happy. With her flock of sheep, she moves through the juniper heathland of the Swabian Alb. With her mother, Kerstin looks after 900 Merinoland sheep and 50 goats. With the animals, they maintain the landscape around their farm in Nattheim and preserve the heath landscape. Kerstin was 15 when her uncle died in a work accident. He was her great role model and so she decided to continue the family tradition as a shepherdess. Kerstin did the apprenticeship, the driver's license and the master. Whether parents, cousins or friend:ing, everyone stands together. The family also grows winter feed for the sheep. Kerstin slaughters once a week for direct marketing in her own slaughterhouse.
